The Latest O’Keefe Sting

This is highly questionable ethically. You see apparently Obama is actually an employee of O’Keefe’s and the entire Obama administration is an O’Keefe prank that just went too far:
[Press Secretary Jay] Carney said the scam entailed pulling together demographic, social, cultural, and policy characteristics to create the most exaggerated Democratic candidate possible without stepping over the line into caricature.
“By combining empty, touchy-feely slogans like ‘hope’ and ‘change’ with far-left-wing policy planks and presenting them in the person of a racial minority from a major Midwest city with an Ivy League background, we thought we might be able to make a good showing in Iowa and New Hampshire, maybe even capture the Democratic nomination,” Carney told reporters. “But the entire country? No. We never, ever for even a second imagined the American people would elect someone who had served only half a term in the U.S. Senate to be the leader of the entire free world.”
Obama won the presidency with 52.9 percent of the popular vote, defeating Republican nominee John McCain, who received 45.7 percent.
“All you guys in the press were so giddy about it,” Carney continued, “we couldn’t really just announce that the whole thing was a big fat joke, you know? I mean, how would that look?”
Contacted by phone, O’Keefe said he, too, was surprised the hoax had lasted as long as it did.
Now there are some people who have suggested that this Reason piece is itself just satire, that in reality Obama was a genuine liberal candidate and not at all a parody of liberalism. But I ask you, can you point to any clear evidence that the Obama presidency is not just an elaborate joke? I mean come on. He bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia and his handlers attempted to deny it (okay, in truth, he bent his knee so technically that was a curtsy). British Prime Minister Brown gave him a penholder carved from the wood of a ship used to stop slave ships, a priceless historical artifact. Obama gave him a collection of DVD. And they were region locked—so literally Brown couldn’t even watch the movies at home. And then he gave the Queen of England an Ipod. And he filled it with his own speeches. And the two books he wrote about himself, the racist preacher, the beer summit and so on.
I mean come on, if they were serious about this what evidence can you show to prove it?

Barack Obama’s election has substantially lowered the bar with respect to who is now a plausible candidate and this is something what deserves to be counted among the more profoundly damaging of his contributions I think.

i will point out that saying palin is better than obama is not the same as saying she is ready to be president. i have been on record saying that she was the most qualified of her, biden, obama and even mccain. but on the other hand, i really do prefer to have a person complete a term as governor before becoming president. and we can talk about why she resigned and all that, but the fact is she didn’t complete her term. which is really minimum in my book.

if anything, i say it demonstrates that the person in question is willing to make hard decisions based upon the over all good of the people she represents rather than on what is best for themselves politically.

I agree strongly that it shows character.
And yet, Palin doesn’t have enough experience to be qualified for the oval office, IMO. If it comes down to her vs Obama, or her vs a field with no character, I will support her, but Romney doesn’t have enough experience, IMO, and he’s got more than Palin does.
We have a few people like Rubio and Christie and Palin, who are a breath of fresh air in many ways, but need more years in high office before I’m comfortable turning the free world over to them.
And I keep seeing their resumes compared with Obama, as though he’s the new standard, and I think that shows that happyfeet is correct that Obama has greatly reduced the notion of what is presidential.
Don’t get me wrong… I think Palin’s one of the good guys and would give my right arm to trade Obama for her. I’d support her over most of the 2012 GOP field. But we need someone with a) focus on the debt and b) plenty of experience. How many candidates have both?

Hey, have you seen the piece in the National Enquirer, claiming that the President and Mrs. Obama are outraged and not being invited to the upcoming royal wedding? Don’t trust the story, coming from the Enquirer and all (though they were darn good with their John Edwards reporting!), but certainly if it’s true, I’d like to sit down with Michelle and walk her through ALL of the reasons why Ronald Reagan was invited to the last royal wedding, but the current President of the United States is not being invited to this one.

I guess she wanted to be a queen for a day. Personally, I think the royal couple is not fit to carry Michelle Obama’s garish belt collection. She’s a first lady, they are monarch crap that should be ridiculed at best.
But Obama does her best to bring us down to their level.

What our current First Occupant has done is prove not only that there *are* understood and accepted notions and expectations of what it takes to *be* Presidential, but that Mr Obama continues to be an ongoing abject failure to achieve even the minima of those notions and expectations …
