“All of You Are White. Go to Hell;” Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price Must Go (Update: More Video)

Update (II): See below for an video AP report showing his outburst.

————-

That quote is what Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price said to a group of people complaining about the recent departure of an elections administrator.  It is a classic example of a person claiming to be opposed to racism, but in fact proving to be a racist himself.

But let me back up and set the scene.  Several people came to complain about the departure of an official, including a man named Jeff Turner.  Turner began to refer to Price as “the Chief Mullah of Dallas County.”  According to Price, he believed the man called him “Chief Moolah” which he alleges in a prepared statement is a term that

has its roots in a slang that was used against Italian immigrants and was later used by the same to defame or discredit African Americans. The speaker continued to use terms like “tribal” and his intent to make race an issue was obvious. “Nigger” is “Nigger,” spoken overtly or incognito.

Which is funny, because googling around, no one seems to have heard of the term “moolah” except as a slang for money.  But don’t you know that this CBS affiliate does its best to try to support Price’s wolf-cry of racism?  As indicated by an update, they originally claimed that Turner called him “Chief Moolah.”  Then later, when they updated the article, they added in this explanation of what a Mullah is: “The New Oxford American Dictionary defines “mullah” as “a Muslim learned in Islamic theology and sacred law.”  I am sure it does, but we also know that in this modern context, Mullahs are also political leaders in theocratic societies, a fact that Turner himself explains in a clip.  For instance, in Iran, the Mullahs run the place.

And it is worth noting that this is not the first time when Price claimed to hear racism when there was no evidence of it, when he objected to someone calling a collections department a “black hole:”

And in this clip, Price demonstrates his aggressive stupidity and scientific illiteracy, by asserting that the offending person could have just as easily said a white hole. Yes, really.

Any person basically literate in science understands that a black hole is a mass in space so dense that nothing can escape the gravity of it, including light itself.  That is why it is literally black—because no light escapes at all.  So Mr. Price, it is not equally valid to call it a white hole, you moron.

Of course by now the average reader might suspect that Price just race-baits in an attempt to win his arguments.  I tend to agree, but let’s say for the sake of argument that he sincerely believed he was being attacked in a racist way.  Even if he believed that, nothing could justify his reaction.

First, according to the Houston Chronicle, he asked “Why are all the speakers white?”  Then as the meeting adjourned, he says (and you can see the video here) “All of you are white.  Go to hell!”  One white man in the clip who hadn’t spoken was asking why he insulted him, since he was just sitting and observing.

If Price legitimately felt he was the victim of racism, why not say, “all of you are racist.  Go to hell!”  The best you could say about him is that in his mind the term “white racist” is redundant.  Which doesn’t exactly exonerate him.

And of course neither the Houston Chronicle nor this CBS affiliate puts Mr. Price’s racist comment in its headline. CBS pretended he merely said “go to hell” in the headline, and waited ten paragraphs before mentioning the reference to their skin color.  The Houston Chronicle doesn’t mention the words “all of you are white” at all.

Price pretends he is the victim of racism, but there is only one person at that meeting that was clearly a racist: him.

As a racist, he should immediately step down and his party should denounce him. But I ain’t holding my breath waiting for it to happen.

Hat tip to Bryan Preston on the black holes stupidity.

Update: This AP report has a lot to criticize, not the least of which is the repetition of the false claim that the man called him “Chief Moolah” and the unverified claim that that was a racial slur. But still you can listen to the schmuck for yourself.

Also we get this old footage of the man acting like an idiot at another meeting. Nothing racial about it, but it gives you an insight into his character (or lack thereof):

  7. Raaaaaaaaaaacissssssssst…Isn’t this the most useless and overly abused term in this country presently? I am so fed up with it! What do black people want? After all, they are already near totally subsidized by the productive members of our failing society. Hi, Kilgore Trout!

I know a lot of white bums, and I know a couple of black bums, and I know plenty of white and black people who are damn good Americans. I knew one black man who didn’t make it home from Iraq.

It’s almost as though being black or white has absolutely nothing to do with anything, except for those who make it matter. Those people are no friend to the Republic.

There is a crisis in the black community, and it’s hard to describe it as anything but a crisis of a black community existing at all, trying to distinguish itself culturally, from the melting pot… from being ‘like whites’ when it comes to education, or culture. And of course, fatherhood. These bastards who speak about white oppression *such as Price* , instead of fatherhood, are hustlers who exploit a miserable situation.

Actually, to those who are exceptionally learned in the techniques used to prove AGW, you are incorrect, sir.

That is to say, glory be — if AGW is “given as valid” then yes, by all means, it is equally valid (using this new standard for “validity”) to call it a “white hole”.

Now THERE’s a nice knock-down argument for you!

An NAACP official took to the airwaves to call the black holes reference demeaning to African American women. i will say this, though. when i lived in the DFW area, for the most part race relations was really good. as in respectful, people mixed company freely, dated anyone of any color without anyone noticing or caring. compared to charlotte, n.c. it was really liberating. but i mean just one on one dealing with each other, it was really just cool.

    It stems from hatred.

How can you reach a community that believes that, “They don’t say ‘spic” or ‘nigger’ anymore, they just say let’s cut taxes.”

Good for Dallas! They didn’t elect the jackass fake-mayor anyway.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  34. How can you reach a community that believes that, “They don’t say ‘spic” or ‘nigger’ anymore, they just say let’s cut taxes.”

Patiently. Poorly. I think we live in an age where people can learn for themselves, and I am optimistic that this is going to make it harder to fool people.

One positive is that once you realize you’ve been fooled by propaganda, you insulate yourself from that in the future.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  35. Aaron – I will second your comment on race relations being generally good in the Dallas metroplex.

J Wiley Price however is well known to be antagonistic, confrontational, volatile and racist. There are probably 20-30 incidents in Dallas over the last 30 years where he has been involved in creating volatile racially charged incident.

True, not all black people, or even a majority, hold on to hatred. But enough of them do that it has a significant political influence.

Thank you, I thought the kerfuffleling over ‘black hole’ was a reprise. Perhaps that should be part of high school curriculum and on the GED exam.

Comment by Relay- True, but the OT also speaks of “sin as scarlet”

27.I guess the “Heisenberg uncertainty principle” is the likelihood that Heisenberg will get a date for Friday night
No, it has to do with Heisenberg’s uncertainty over whether he was indecisive or simply couldn’t make up his mind. I’ve at times been afflicted with it as well.

yeah, there are a number of terms that are kind of similar, but none of them are what he claimed they said.

i think if you want to pretend this guy, Price, was being honest (and i don’t think he was), then he just assumes that if a white person calls a black person a name, it must be racist, somehow.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  41. md agreed. when i first thought they were mentioning the black hole thing, i thought it was that stupid controversy over the card, claiming that hallmark was making a card denouncing “black wh-res.” hallmark immediately pulled it anywawy, because they saw no benefit to this controversy. can’t blame them, but really the NAACP et al are showing their irrelevance.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  42. After several minutes of googling, I believe that the word Price had in mind was “moolie”, an obscure slur in Italian slang.

  45. Greetings from Dallas county.

The issue from this perspective isn’t about racism. Don’t let that get in the way. This is about vote fraud. The “problem” commissioner Price sees is that Dallas county’s ratio of registered voters to residents is the lowest of any major city in Texas. Given recent exposure of fraudulent registration in Houston (bing “King Street Patriots” and “VOTING”) the Dallas ration would, to an honest politician, seem to be a feature rather than a bug. The decades-long tenure of elections officer Bruce Sherbet was acclaimed by Tea Partiers, Democrats, and Republicans alike — after Price fired Sherbet. (Like air, nobody noticed his importance ’til he was gone.) The state legislature is now considering bills that will (a) require photo ID to vote and (b) invest new and greater powers to county officials to implement whatever new rules are passed. Price appears to want his team in charge of the new process for this county.

Well, “facepalm” wouldn’t have been my first choice of words, but it’s more civil than the one which sprang to mind.

Let me put it this way: you don’t spend much time around African-Americans, I’m guessing.

i think there is an age limit on how long a person can wear cornrows, though, and he is waaaaay past it. 🙂

Some hair styles are only for the young.

    Aaron Worthing (73a7ea)

  48. Noyk – I took my then 4 year old to a college basketball practice, and was introducing her to some of the players. She was talking to one young man, when she asked him,”why do you have lines on your head?”

Seriously, I saw a like 50 yr old woman in a tollbooth in rows and she looked great. But you’re right, it’s a harder hairstyle to pull off.

Prefer dreads myself. But then I like longer hair on any person, male or female actually.
    /preemptive self-facepalm 😉

    no one you know (325a59)

  50. Whoops, JD, that was for Aaron.
What did the young man reply, JD? Was he amused?

    no one you know (325a59)

  51. Yes, everyone laughed. The innocence of a child is usually quite entertaining.

    JD (d56362)

  52. JD,
I love four year olds’ comments. My niece is six right now and still manages to be adorable on a regular basis.

Your daughter’s question reminded me of that scene in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves when the little girl came up to Morgan Freeman and asked shyly “Why did God paint you?” And he gave the most delightful laugh and said, Because Allah loves wondrous variety.

    no one you know (325a59)

  53. Never saw that movie, but that is a great answer.

    JD (d56362)

  54. While we do not owe Black Americans reparations for slavery, it becomes clearer and clearer to me with every passing day that we owe them vast reparations for allowing the parasitic white (self-styled) intellectual class to fasten onto them and turn their subculture into a sinkhole of sloth, idiocy, and derangement.

And this fool could almost be exhibit A.

    C. S. P. Schofield (71781e)

  55. I don’t live on Dallas, but I do live close enough to be extremely aware of Price.

First, he is extremely smart. He essentially runs Dallas County and he has managed to do it efficiently and cleverly.
He has a deep understanding of how the county operates. He is no fool.

He is a bully and he knows how to use his political power to get what he wants. Dallas County is overwhelmingly Democrat and he has no fear of losing an election.

Although he is getting along in years, for most of his tenure he was an avid body-builder. He is a very intimidating man.

Any time he is confronted with opposition, he plays the race card.

Honestly, he is an extremely skilled local politician and know one can challenge him in his knowledge of county government. He has consolidated his power in a remarkable manner. Quite simply, he is the King of Dallas County and nothing in near future will usurp him.

I disagree with his politics and his infamous temper, but I do admire how he has managed to win local power to the point he is unassailable.

Nonetheless, he is what is wrong in politics. He has followed a very familiar path to achieve his goals. And, short of an unlikely human failing, he is essentially the Dallas equivalent of whichever Daley is currently ruling Chicago (or Rahm). That’s just the way it is.

    Ag80 (7a9f97)

  56. Price is hardly intelligent…he’s simply a thug. He uses threats, intimidation and lies to achieve his power. I’ve watched it for years. He used to have his wacky sidekick Diane Ragsdale as his partnering bully. A sweet young black girl I worked with Got involved in our discussions about him and commented that his part of Dallas is armed and dangerous…and that was 20 years ago.

    Whippet (0c910c)

  57. Sorry, whippet, he may be a thug, but he knows county government. I may not like him, but he knows how things work.

Dimishing his skills and smarts by calling him a name plays into his power and base. He knows how to deflect any criticism of his actions and owns a willing local media to assure his power.

No one, right or left, gives Steve Blow any credence as a legitimate purveyor of cred.

    Ag80 (7a9f97)

  58. Ragsdale is known by another nickname. Something along the lines of useful idiot. Clay Jenkins is the new puppet, regardless of his unfortunate ice injury.

    Ag80 (7a9f97)

  59. Price knows how to manipulate media and county government to his advantage for his own benefit. He got his power through intimidation and keeps it by using the same tactics. I don’t consider that a sign of intelligence in the same way I don’t consider the mobs use of the same tactics as a sign of intelligence.

    Whippet (0c910c)

  60. Well, we will have to disagree then. I certainly meant no disrespect to you, whippet.

    Ag80 (7a9f97)

  61. The Fabulous Moolah was the star of the earliest TV rasslin extravaganzas. You can look it up.

    Vnjagvet (ee0543)

  62. To clarify. Moolah was the premier female star of those shows. BTW, she was white.

    Vnjagvet (ee0543)

  63. You weren’t disrespectful at all, AG80. Disagree we shall!

    Whippet (0c910c)

  64. BTW, “white hole” is already a real term, for a hypothesized opposite of a black hole, a point in space that emits matter and energy rather than sucking it up.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  65. Milhouse,
Ironic how a black hole in space absorbs matter while a white hole emits it. Kind of like how taxes and government programs work here.

    kansas (1fc602)

  66. kansas = moby

you’re not going to get people to agree with your racist comments, except your fellow mobies.

that being said, why don’t we call them Richard Warman’s instead? That guy not only went and posted bigoted things on stormfront, but then prosecuted them for posting his own message in the canadian human rights council.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  67. Uh, Aaron? He’s got a point.

Government is to the Private Sector as black holes are to white holes.

    Scott Jacobs (d027b8)

  68. scott

but kansas is clearly saying that black people contribute nothing and are supported entirely by white people. he’s a moby.

mark my words, he will tell his liberal buddies he got you to agree with him. only of course you didn’t agree with that part.

of course the recipients of aid are leeching off the most productive members of society. but the two are not delineated by color. Some of the laziest bums i have ever met were white and some of the most industrious people i have met were black, asian, etc.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  69. Exactly. “Kansas” is neither black nor white but completely transparent. And for the record, no, it’s not ironic. Absorbing and emitting light is literally what defines black and white respectively, and makes them be those colours.

    Milhouse (de2658)
