Politico: Trying to Get Candidates Killed

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 8:30 pm

Have you ever seen anything so irresponsible as this candidate target map? (I’m breaking the boycott to provide a link so you can see it with your own eyes.)

Thanks to jimboster.

  1. Why Patterico! That’s different, of course!

  2. Actually it is different, and worse. this is doing its best to tell you where they are in the near future, if i understand it. If a person wanted to kill several politicians, this would be valuable information. So rather than this hallucinated incitement, this actually is facilitation.

  3. But Aaron! Only people on the Right are violent! MSNBC said so! It’s different!

  4. Why does Politico want these candidates/politicians to be harmed?

    Have they no shame?

  6. Like a lot of good things Politico has became a pitiful organization.

  7. Hypocrits ‘R Us. Just like all of the liberal loving allies like MediaMatters, ThinkProgress, GreenPeace, etc., are all 501(3)(c)’s, that pay ZERO Federal Income Tax. You pay, so we don’t have to? I am sick of these rat bastards.

  8. Those aren’t bullseyes, silly! They’re smooth cooktop burners.

  9. They look like bullseyes or bomb craters to me. And I’ll tell you, I went there to the link–and then tried to get out. It scrambled my ‘puker for 15 minutes or so–must have been blast radiation or something.

  10. But you’re missing the obvious point, there are no crosshairs!!!!

So, they may be targets, but there is no gun sight aiming at them. Duh!!! [sarc]

The scary thing is, these kind of folk seem to win the public opinion most of the time.

  11. no, see these are earthquake epicenters.

and given that we have an earthquake generating machine…

    (yes, that is a joke)

  13. I’m shocked, SHOCKED, to find out that there’s hypocrisy going on here.

    Comment by Kevin M (298030) — 1/31/2011 @ 7:53 am

  14. Sure would be embarrassing if they found that map page in Loughner’s web history. Surely, Sheriff Lobo would rant about Politico if that happened.

    Comment by Kevin M (298030) — 1/31/2011 @ 8:00 am

  15. I see they used to “target” both parties. Now the only people on the map from today forward as far as it goes are Republicans. Scroom!

    {^_^}

  16. Where can I find a calendar that gives all known events per candidate for a month or more, rather than just for a day at a time? I have no interest in most of these people, but if Sarah Palin comes to NYC I want to go see her. The America By Heart book tour didn’t include NYC as far as I could tell.

And yes, I know she’s coming to Long Island, and I’m on that very island, but only geographically. Culturally, “Lawn Guyland” means only the part of the island where people drive cars, not the part that’s in NYC, where people depend on the subway and rarely venture where it doesn’t go. It is a very long island.

  17. Good thing you did a screen cap on it; at least one of us thinks that it might disappear from the original.

  18. Those are EPICENTERS!!!11!!1 They’re calling in earthquakes on those poor people…

With Nevada outlined like that, it reminded me of the map of the apocolyptic version of America in Ferrigno’s Assasin trilogy.

    Comment by carlitos (a3d259) — 1/31/2011 @ 9:09 am

  20. Actually Nevada, Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina are all outlined, though the other three are for the large part obscured by the targeting symbols. New Hampshire, Iowa and SC all make sense from an early primary view but does Nevada do an early one?

    Comment by Have Blue (854a6e) — 1/31/2011 @ 9:30 am

  21. Went to the site and checked about a dozen of the symbols. Only one of the ones I checked was a Dem and that was an Obama appearance in the midwest, the rest were all Republicans. However that would be what you would expect if this is a tracking of potential presidential candidates in 2012. Most of the appearances will be of putative or potential Republican contenders and a few will be of Obama. Politicao is not likely to highlight the possibility of a Democratic challenger. When Hillary’s speeches start sowing up call me.

  24. Where do I find the coverage on Tom Delay? It seems to be lacking. Just saying…

  25. You’re a straight-shooter! This information is right on target. You can’t beat it with a stick. To be honest, it’s a hit!

Ooops. Oh my. Did I write that? I’m acting like a Democrat. Slap me.

  27. I feel threatened and terrified to the point of incontinence.

Politico is trying to kill me!!

    Comment by Jones (72b0ed) — 1/31/2011 @ 11:40 pm

  28. Those aren’t targets–they’re Ground Zero markers, with blast range and fatality range shown. Politico is suggesting that entire districts be slated for nuclear annihilation, and showing that such bombing will also eliminate the troublesome Republican voters all around the districts.

    Comment by d1st (c45d1c) — 2/1/2011 @ 5:42 am

  29. They’ve been outed, and have changed the targets to little black squares. Some of their information is deliberately misleading as well. The Sarah Palin event in the heart of California wasn’t a fundraiser
for SP, but was a fundraiser for the CSUS foundation.
