Looking the Reaper Right in the Eye…

Check out this chilling photograph:

Reynaldo Dagsa, a Philippine politician, was taking a photograph of his family right at the moment that a man came out from behind a car and aimed a gun at him.  No, that is not the muzzle flash in the photo; it’s a reflection from the camera’s flash.  Still, seconds later the gunman shot and killed Dagsa, so we are literally seeing the last thing he saw on this Earth.

  1. this is creepy, but I’d hope that my family is the last thing I see when I die.

  2. If there’s a bright side, it’s that the shooter missed the young girl by a foot or two.

  3. The other good news is, if they ever catch the bastard, there won’t be much question during his trial about his guilt. In fact, chances are he’s already been killed by whoever ordered the hit because of this publicity.

Killing someone in front of his family. Even the mafia at its worst wouldn’t go that far.

read the article. they got the guy and his lookout. we are only seeing this pic now because we do have the bastard.

  6. So the man on the right was his lookout. The shooter’s name is Michael Gonzales, “also known by the underworld name of Fubo of Fish Pond Area 1.”

Dagsa, the victim, was only 35 years old and killed in front of his little girl. You can see his picture at the bottom of Aaron’s link. He looks like a nice guy.

The shooter, Gonzales got him in the arm then the chest, which might imply that Dagsa defensively shielded himself. Apparently he died en route to the hospital.

Dagsa was a ‘District Counselor’ (a prosecutor) and ordered the arrest of the shooter, who was out on bail when he murdered Dagsa in front of his own family.

  7. ordered the arrest of the shooter, who was out on bail

The judge and defense lawyer responsible should be named accessories in the crime and ordered to pay monthly support to the family.

  8. I hope they get this son of a pig. I know from experience whats it like to lose a love one for stupid reasons. My homie Casper died on my arms. A car drove up to us and they started blasting,I got hit twice but I survived my friend Casper had his freakin head blown off. Killing for political reasons of because of turf makes no sense. I feel for the family and I pray for Dagsa.

  9. El Cholo, the arrested Gonzalez already. He’s caught, dead to rights.

Sadly, someone’s gunned down every day in Manila.

  10. Too bad the Philippines abolished capital punishment in 2006.

  11. I lived in the PI for three years as a member of the USAF and it was not unusual for several hundred people to be killed each election cycle. Now even children are enlisted to kill.

  12. The gun rules in most Philippines cities and not a day goes by without someone being shot dead.

Huge numbers of cheap firearms are easily available on the legal and black markets.

Hired assassins are also on the loose, usually riding as pillion riders on motor bikes, their faces covered by visors.

They pull alongside a victim’s car, shoot him – and then ride off into the thick traffic.

I’m inclined to wonder why Dagsa did not have bodyguards or some sort of security detail given the dangers he faced? Given his profession, it would seem when out in public, he would be an easy target for those with an axe to grind.
