Site Migration Today: Comment at Your Own Risk

Filed under: Uncategorized — Patterico @ 8:14 am

I said it was going to happen the other night but it didn’t. The new plan is today. I am told that the site should stay up, but anyone who comments during the migration of the data risks having their thoughts lost to posterity.

Fairly warned be thee.

By the way, Dan Collins’s brother Enoch Root has been helping out with technical issues and hosting the site for the last several months, working (and hosting) largely for free. I will soon have more to say about his company and the things he has done, but I did want to mention all the hard work put in by him and his team. The site ultimately proved to be overwhelming for their servers, which is why we are moving today, but they have gone the extra mile time and time gain. It is much appreciated.

  35. I’m so relieved. After being locked out of the site for what feels like ages, eons, almost an eternity—-Patterico’s back in business! Now we’ll see if the comments are working.

usually it would time out with about 25 comments – on a long thread it would take two or three refreshes to fully load.

I’m happy to report this is the third Patterico post that has resolved fully and completely on the first try.

Whatever you did works for me.

  42. Btw, at my blog i wrote:

But of course Murphy’s Law says that this is exactly when a story will break that Patterico will feel the need to comment on and then won’t be able to. And I was wondering, what would count as a perfect Patterico story?

Well, how is this for a headline? “L.A. Times suppresses story about Roman Polanskiy raping Christine O’Donnell when she was a teenager!”

    Heh.

So, now that the site has propagated, can we expect to see a lot of little Patterico’s Pontifications running around?

  46. The Jury is down for me (I’m using Firefox), but the main website is really humming.
