Obama to Congress: Send Money
[Guest post by DRJ]
Last night, President Obama asked Congressional leaders to fund another $50 billion in emergency spending funds to help cash-strapped States balance their budgets and save jobs in heavily unionized professions. Interestingly, the letter doesn’t actually mention the $50 billion figure. Perhaps that enables the President to “transparently” post his request at the White House website while making his request sound like business instead of like begging.
This Jake Tapper interview suggests Congressional leaders on both sides are reluctant to spend new funds:
The President reminds me of all those fun-loving, free-spending college students who spend their last dimes by the middle of the month and immediately call home begging for more money. We’ve all been there at some point in our lives. Obama is still there.

ALSO: Adjective Dana has related thoughts on Obama’s easy-going attitude toward America’s ballooning deficit.

Hey look this 50 billion fits in the same rat hole that the last trillion idd. Do you see the folly of Obama’s policies? Look to his oil spill management skills, it tells you all you need know about all his policies…. brain dead.

Drunken sailors only spend their own money, and stop spending when they run out of money.

How many times is Obama going to ask us to save the same (union) jobs?
Weren’t the states supposed to find ways to fix their budgets between last year and this year so we would not have to do this again?

Obama’s solution to every problem is to give away other people’s money. That’s his only tool. It is all he’s ever done.

We all know that all money only goes to supprot unions. With the loss of halter in Arkansas proved that 10 mil was squandered for the unions effort to buy there candidate. Big FAIL, and hopefully people will see more clearly that Unions are the reason we lost manufacturing jobs in this country. Unions are too expensive to the bottom line that this country cannot afford to enlist unions services any longer.

I’m shaking. SPQR, do you remember what happened to the thread the last time drunken sailors were mentioned? It started with the hilarious comment by a “formerly drunken sailor” who took offense that Obama was said to “spend like a drunken sailor”, and he gave the reason you site, that drunken sailors knew enough to stop when they ran out of money.

Spending money is the one good thing Congress and Obama can do. As a matter of fact, it is what they are best at. Almost as good as politicians in Greece, Zimbabwe, Italy…….

I’ll say it again – we’ve been told that deficits don’t matter. Move along. There’s nothing to see here.

I am sick and tired of being told I have to bail out the unions and union workers. They joined the unions, they made the lousy choices, they made their own bed. And so did I, I planned for the future based on my own abilities and income. Now I am losing my future to people who kiss the pols ass by no fault of my own. I am being robbed and raped and can’t do a damn thing about it.

One wonders if Teh One has ever actually balanced a budget in his entire life. Or, let’s start with something really small – how about his farcking checkbook? Lots of overdraft fees I’m thinking.

Adjective Dana,
I love your Playing the Public for Fools category. It’s much more creative than just labeling it Politics As Usual.
The clip above left me wondering why on earth Boehner didn’t bring up the fact that it’s directly because of the union stranglehold and unsustainable pensions that has gotten us into this position – and then point out that it was these same unions that got our president elected, hence his residency in their back pocket.
The Jones Act suspicion is becoming more and more credible…this president clearly knows who he is beholden to.
