Rossi Enters Washington Senate Race
[Guest post by DRJ]
The Seattle Times reports two-time Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi will announce for the GOP Senate race against Democratic Senator Patty Murray:
“A person with direct knowledge of Rossi’s plans said he’s expected to make his entry official Wednesday. Pat Shortridge, senior strategist for Florida Republican Senate candidate Marco Rubio, has signed on to help run the campaign, said another person close to Rossi. The sources spoke on the condition that they not be identified. Shortridge, a political consultant based in Minnesota, was an aide to former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, a Texas Republican.”
The filing deadline is June 11 and the primary is August 11.

Yay for Rossi. I think he can beat Murray, IF he gets all of his votes counted this time around.
LASue (9c0ff6) — 5/26/2010 @ 12:07 pmHe who counts the votes wins the race. Just ask Cantwell.

AD - RtR/OS! (39b1d4) — 5/26/2010 @ 12:25 pmI’m delighted Dino Rossi will run against Patty Murray, she’s a thoroughly substandard representative for the great State of Washington.
For far too long the citizens of the Evergreen State have suffered under the obsessively partisan and shortsighted incompetence of Patty Murray. She gives women in politics a bad name.
ropelight (9cdba2) — 5/26/2010 @ 12:59 pmMaybe so, but no one’s been able to tap Pat Schroder’s pathetic excuse for a women in a top political position.
Dmac (3d61d9) — 5/26/2010 @ 2:04 pmDmac, I think Cantwell and Murray both have made Schroeder look learned and sincere by comparison.
While even a blind squirrel would be an improvement over Murray, best of luck to Rossi…and may he get an honest vote count, or at least a facsimile thereof.
EW1(SG) (edc268) — 5/26/2010 @ 2:37 pmmore power to him but why anyone with any self-respect would want to be a U.S. senator escapes me

As Dino knows from experience,
AD - RtR/OS! (39b1d4) — 5/26/2010 @ 7:03 pm“If it’s not close, they can’t cheat!”
Even that didn’t stop ’em last time.

This country still produces patriotic nephews of Uncle Sam who consider it an honor and a duty to serve the nation, some in the armed forces, some in elected office, and many others in their own way. We are fortunate to have such men among us.
ropelight (9cdba2) — 5/26/2010 @ 8:17 pmWasn’t Murray the super-genius who explained that the Islamic world supported Osama bin Laden because he was out building daycare centers?
Have Blue (854a6e) — 5/26/2010 @ 9:57 pmBingo! H’Blue, that’s exactly how Senator Patty Murray explained Osama bin Laden’s popularity. However, man-on-the-street interviews, as well as conversations with leading Islamic clerics, have failed to find a scintilla of corroboration for Murray’s conclusions.
Without exception, both official and lay opinion in the Middle East equates high regard for bin Laden with his obedience to the commands of Allah expressed in the holy Koran.
ropelight (9df278) — 5/27/2010 @ 6:02 amropelight – That statement just proves to me the absolute incompetence of the press. I can not imagine a clearer illustration of a case of psychological projection.
She flat out assumes that a radical Muslim terrorist would be motivated by the same impulses she feels and that his popularity is based on that.
If a Tea Party supporter stated that Osama is supported because he for advocates for lower taxes, I don’t think the press would ignore it.
Have Blue (854a6e) — 5/27/2010 @ 7:55 amH’Blue, Muslims don’t make distinctions like “radical, mainstream, or moderate.” We invent those artificial categories to reassure ourselves that only a few bad apples are causing all the trouble.
Allah makes the same demands on all the faithful, some respond immediately and with enthusiasm, while others wait for the fullness of time to take up their burden. However, the Koran is unambiguous, jihad is the essence of Islam, and an unshakable command issued directly from Allah and incumbent on all Muslims without exception.
ropelight (9df278) — 5/27/2010 @ 9:37 amropelight – Your point is understood. Using the commonly bandied term from Western discourse.
Have Blue (854a6e) — 5/27/2010 @ 9:41 amSomeone once said that the distinction should be “radical and non-observant”.

Rossi lost a very close election because cheating was rampant, which proves the thesis of Hugh Hewitt’s book-title.
AD - RtR/OS! (fce032) — 5/27/2010 @ 10:33 amH’Blue, except that non-observant Muslims are primary targets of Islamic retribution. Allah is intolerant of slackers, the faithful are commanded to attack them without mercy.
Which is only somewhat similar to the fate of infidels, Allah allows only two options for disbelievers: voluntary submission to Islam’s authority and the regular payment of tribute, or enforced slavery under the lash and the sword.
ropelight (9df278) — 5/27/2010 @ 1:32 pmMy tribute shall be rendered in 147 & 230 grain increments.
AD - RtR/OS! (fce032) — 5/27/2010 @ 1:47 pmIn my #17, I neglected to mention the obvious:
The two options Islam allows for the limited number of conquered infidels remaining is only available to those with their heads still attached, that is the lucky few judged sufficiently useful to be tolerated as either surfs or slaves.
