Unflappable

The Washington Post has punctured the myth of Obama as calm, cool, and in control:
“Since the oil rig exploded, the White House has tried to project a posture that is unflappable and in command.
But to those tasked with keeping the president apprised of the disaster, Obama’s clenched jaw is becoming an increasingly familiar sight. During one of those sessions in the Oval Office the first week after the spill, a president who rarely vents his frustration cut his aides short, according to one who was there.
“Plug the damn hole,” Obama told them.”
The well blew out 35 days ago, so either someone didn’t get his message or he isn’t in control.

It’s easy to look inflappable when you always get what you want. IMO Obama’s temper is only as steady as his ability to get his way, not only unthwarted but actually unchallenged, every time. Call it the “I Won”/Middle Finger Temperament.
The man IMO is a classic passive-aggressive egomaniac. Am waiting patiently for the narcissisic meltdown which I am convinced will come. The only question is when, and over what.

It’s understandable, he has no experience in actually solving problems under the constraints of reality. If the feds took over from BP, it’s the White House that would be responsible. As long as BP remains in charge of sealing the well, it’s their responsibility.
Since the feds have no particular expertise in sealing oil wells and BP does, this is a good decision, but that’s not the basis for it.
