Crime Suspects Taunt Police Via MySpace

Suspects wanted in Texas Panhandle home invasions, robberies and burglaries are taunting police at a MySpace account:

“Daniel Reyna is apparently taunting police that there are four more storage sheds – possibly filled with guns and stolen property – that they haven’t yet found.

Reyna, believed responsible for a string of home invasions, appears to be using his online MySpace account to take jabs at the Lubbock Police Department.”
***
The Special Duty Squad was using the MySpace account that is purported to be Reyna’s in attempts to track him, but the account is being updated via cell phone or mobile device, [Police Capt. Greg] Stevens said.”

Some examples:

“The online account had several posts on Wednesday following the Tuesday seizure [of recovered stolen property], referencing the incident and saying he knew police were looking at his MySpace page.

Here’s one post: “LOOK LPD YALL R GOOD LOL GOOD JOB AND U MIGHT GET MORE STORAGES IF U DO UR JOB RIGHT SO YALL GOT 2 SO U STILL NEED 4 MORE…”

[Suspect Sergio] Gonzalez also made some references in late April on his MySpace page. There were posts saying “we still on top” and “yall can’t find us keep on looking.”

Police have already recovered substantial stolen property at two warehouses, including several weapons.

  1. I have to believe people who are doing home invasions in Texas are especially idiotic. I know people who would try a home invasion in my new Texas neighborhood would be lucky to get small-caliber bullet holes in their bodies, what, with all the clingy people around here.

But to publicly taunt the police? Those public defenders really need to work harder to keep their idiot criminals silent.

You never know which home will have a gun. For instance, the El Paso Times reports someone broke into an upscale El Paso home last night and attacked the homeowners in their bedroom, with their children asleep in other rooms. The intruder was shot dead by the homeowner after a struggle.

  3. I’ve heard of people around these parts having stickers on their front doors saying something like:

WARNING: We do not call 911

I’d like a sticker like that for my front door, but I doubt my daughter, who pays the rent here, would allow me to put that sticker up.

  5. Maybe they are checking voter rolls and only invading homes that are registered Democrat. Better odds.

  6. Maybe they’ll be nice enough to let him update his MySpace page from prison when he inevitably gets caught:

LOOK LPD IS THEIR ANY WAY WE CAN TALK THIS THRU?? THIS CELL 2 SMALL 4 COMFORT

  7. IIRC the Barrow Gang liked to taunt the police with photographs, and that worked out so well for them.
