Shuster vs. Jackson on Tea Party Violence (Updated x2)

[Guest post by DRJ]

Thanks to Dana for a link to David Shuster trying to convince Kevin Jackson that the violent imagery and rhetoric by the Tea Partiers is “getting out of hand:”

‘The BIG Black Lie’ Author Debates MSNBC’s Shuster on Tea Party

In addition, Shane in the comments notices the Washington Post’s Colbert I. King as he sounds off on a related theme — that Tea Partiers could be violent and racist:

“The angry faces at Tea Party rallies are eerily familiar. They resemble faces of protesters lining the street at the University of Alabama in 1956 as Autherine Lucy, the school’s first black student, bravely tried to walk to class.

Those same jeering faces could be seen gathered around the Arkansas National Guard troopers who blocked nine black children from entering Little Rock’s Central High School in 1957.

“They moved closer and closer,” recalled Elizabeth Eckford, one of the Little Rock Nine. “Somebody started yelling, ‘Lynch her! Lynch her!’ I tried to see a friendly face somewhere in the crowd — someone who maybe could help. I looked into the face of an old woman and it seemed a kind face, but when I looked at her again, she spat on me.”

The newest Democratic talking points: Be afraid of your neighbors, Republicans, and everyone except Obama and the Democrats.

UPDATE — From the Daily Caller, the Tea Party Express says its buses were egged by Harry Reid supporters in Searchlight, Nevada:

“Buses en route to a mega Tea Party event in Nevada — centered around protesting against Democratic Sen. Harry Reid — were egged by the senator’s supporters Saturday, the Tea Party Express claimed.

The Tea Party Express — known for taking bus tours across the country and holding rallies — said in a release that eggs were thrown at their iconic buses by about 35 counter demonstrators who lined on Hwy. 95 in Searchlight, Nev. Thousands of conservative grassroots activists have descended upon the tiny Western town for a rally that Sarah Palin keynoted Saturday afternoon.

But the Reid campaign denied any involvement and campaign spokesman Zac Petkanas said they don’t know who threw the eggs. “It wasn’t anyone with the Reid campaign or the supporters who were waving signs with us,” Petkanas said. “We certainly don’t condone it.”

If “We didn’t do it and don’t condone it” is good enough for Democrats, it should be good enough for Republicans, too.

UPDATE 2: Andrew Breitbart has a first person report from Searchlight, NV:

  2. Those violent teabaggers are soooooo evil, they have even egged themselves.

  3. Last week on Morning Joe, Mikka and Barnicle and the usual libs had the vapors over the alleged violence being stirred up by conservatives.

Then they had Al Sharpton on as a guest. Have they forgotten about Tawana Brawley? Or Freddie’s Fashion Mart? Or Crown Heights? Or Bensonhurst?

So while accusing the tea partiers of non-existent racial slurs and inciting violence, they have a true s**t disturber on their show and act like he’s some wise leader.

Shuster is the typical MSNBCer. No reason to break a sweat when all you have to do is read a DNC press release every day.

  4. Pretty clear where the real violent partisans are, and it ain’t the Tea Party protestors.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  5. Shuster conveniently forgot the CO Dem office that got vandalized just before the Dem convention in 2008. Or the democratic nuts that wanted to explode bombs in MN during the GOP convention.

The DNC press releases never mention those.

  11. As mentioned by MU789:

Liberal activist Maurice Schwenkler aka Ariel Attacks vandalized the Colorado Democratic headquarters during the August 2008 DNC convention.

David McKay and Bradley Crowder, also liberal activists, were sentenced to prison for their violent plots aimed at the 2008 Republican National Convention. They were turned in by a fellow activist before they could complete their plot. Liberals, including ACORN’s Wade Rathke, have denounced the informant for ratting liberals out.

  13. The “Ariel Attacks” vandalism was pretty clearly a false flag operation designed to look like Republican violence. So take all claims of Democrats about vandalism with a large block of salt.

  17. Also what about the time Palin was hung in effigy in Hollywood. Or her church being burned in an arson attack?

  18. And what about Andy Sullivan’s obsession with Palin’s pregnancy? That is so creepy it’s worse than anything said at any tea party.

special to the daily dog trainer

On Sunday teabaggers once again proved their insanity and the ease with which they resort to force when faced with reason. At a rally for Senator Harry Reid (AZ) in Searchlight Nevada teabaggers destroyed the eggs being peacefully lobbed through the air with bus.

  22. “The angry faces at Tea Party rallies are eerily familiar.”

Yeah, that’s because they look exactly like the faces of people who are sick and tired of liberals using the tax system to steal people blind.

    I’ve seen it before myself.

    Dave Surls (674b74)

  23. “The angry faces at Tea Party rallies are eerily familiar.”

*sigh* Anger is a response to evil. No doubt it’s familiar to him, his being so thoroughly evil. An angry face is what he most often sees, but for when he gazes in the mirror.

  24. There were still rocks thrown off overpasses at delegate buses at that RNC convention as I recall.

Your recollection was correct – there were thousands of nutbaggers that converged on Minneapolis in order to do serious physical harm to the GOP attendees. Shockingly, neither the local media nor the MSM bothered to look into it very much.

  25. Breitbart: Congressional Black Caucus members went “searching
for …racism” by walking through Tea Party crowd

The FBI is investigating a severed gas line at the home of Rep. Tom
Perriello’s (D-VA) brother. A local tea party group had posted the
brother’s address online, thinking it was Perriello’s and calling for
    a protest there.

Windows were broken across the country, at Rep. Gabrielle Gifford’s
Tucson office, Rep. Louise Slaughter’s district office, and
Democratic Party offices in Ohio, western New York and Kansas.
(Someone also spray-painted the word “dorks” on one party office in
Ohio.) House Minority Whip Eric Cantor also claimed someone shot a
bullet into his campaign office, but local police say it was a random
bullet that struck the office window.

Pictures of nooses were faxed to the offices of Rep. James Clyburn (D-
SC), who is black, and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), who is white.

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) said his office in Kew Gardens, New York,
received an envelope containing white powder and a threatening letter.

Protestors showed up to Rep. Russ Carnahan’s (D-MO) home with a
coffin over the weekend after he voted in support of the health care
    reform bill.

Rep. Betsy Markey (D-CO) said she received two threatening phone
calls after announcing that she would switch her vote on health care
from no to yes. One caller said to a staffer, “Better hope I don’t
run into you in a dark alley with a knife, a club or a gun.” Another
said, “Better tell your boss that she better be careful when she
    comes back here to Colorado.”

Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA) said in a statement that she has
received several “emails, letters, faxes and phone calls that are
threatening or menacing in nature as a result of my vote in favor of
    health care reform.”

A Nashville man was allegedly the victim of road rage because of an
Obama-Biden sticker on his car, a local TV station reported.

Rep. Vic Snyder (D-AR) said he received a letter that read, “Militia
central has selected you for assassination. If we cannot stalk and
find you in Washington, D.C., we will get you in Little Rock.”

Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-AZ) said he got death threats before and after
the vote, and a note about health care was sent to his office along
    with coal and dog poop.

  26. Found this post by John Hinderaker of interest:

‘The Democrats have tried to change the subject away from their health care debacle by claiming that conservatives are threatening violence against them. Their complaints are pathetic where they are not out-and-out lies (e.g., Clyburn and Lewis), and they have taken a lot of well-deserved criticism. It is liberals, not conservatives, who rely on ad hominem attacks, outrageous allegations and violent imagery. We talked about this on our radio show today, and several callers reminded us of a particularly sorry episode of liberal violence that, for some reason, has not gotten much attention: the 2008 Republican convention in St. Paul.

I attended the convention and remember the terrorist acts that were carried out by anti-Republican protesters very well. They threw bricks through the windows of buses, sending elderly convention delegates to the hospital. They dropped bags of sand off highway overpasses onto vehicles below. Fortunately, no one was killed.

These were anti-Bush and anti-Republican protesters. Is it a stretch to think that some of them, at least, may have been inspired by over-the-top, hateful attacks on the Bush administration by Democratic Congressmen, DNC Chairman Howard Dean, Michael Moore, who was a guest of honor at the Democrats’ own convention, various show business personalities, and many other leading liberal figures? I don’t think so. We haven’t seen that sort of hate campaign since the Democrats went after Abraham Lincoln. It seems unlikely that none of the “protesters” who tried to commit murder were inspired by those liberal voices.

Yet, hardly anyone seems to be aware of the violence that took place in 2008. At most, the story was treated with a ho-hum attitude in the press. For some reason, political violence was not a concern less than two years ago. Yet today, we can hardly imagine what would happen if a group of tea partiers were to drop sandbags off a highway overpass, trying to kill motorists below. Liberal reporters’ heads would explode. But this is exactly what anti-Republican Party protesters did in 2008, and no one cared. To my knowledge, not a single Democratic politician condemned this anti-Republican violence or attempted in any way to distance the Democratic Party from it.

Keep that in mind next time you hear a Democrat whining about the Republican effort to “fire Nancy Pelosi.” ‘

  30. yesterday i was at the searchlight party and though cold and windy everyone seemed happy to find so many true patriots in one place and that they are not alone in thier outrage at the contempt that the democrats have shown for them and our constitution. today i read dingy harrys response to the tea party. he expressed extreme disdain for what he called out of staters parachuting in.in one sense he is right ,i made apoint of walking from one end to the other checking license plates and there were many from ca. az and afew from at least ten other states.

  33. General Malaise, there is such a stunning arrogance to Shuster’s behavior toward Jackson, including his painful attempts to manipulate, bully and verbally coerce him to bow down to his (Shuster’s) assumptions, that one automatically begins to wonder why is it that Shuster obviously doesn’t believe Jackson intelligent enough or capable of independent thought?? Why does Shuster appear insulted by Jackson’s refusal to submit to him? (or more importantly, why does Shuster believe that Jackson’s views should be in accordance to his own?) And why does he from the get-go act as if Jackson must enlightened as to what to think and believe and even worse, what the correct view is?

Gosh, if one believed all the media hype and flame throwing, one would just have to naturally conclude that in this clip, a white man is belittling a black man, insulting him, and repeatedly attempting to shame him. Shouldn’t someone somewhere be crying, Racist?

    Dana (1e5ad4)

  34. IOW, why is Shuster trying to keep the black man down?

    Dana (1e5ad4)

  35. I guess I don’t understand why, when Schuster gets rude on his television show, people just don’t ask him if he is “pimping himself out” to the DNC.

  36. Good question, Dana… why do Shuster and nearly every other liberal hack get away with this obvious, racially-tinged paternalism?
