Bidenisms

After asking for God’s blessing on the soul of visiting Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen’s very-much-alive mother, Vice President Joe Biden recited the “Irish proverb that ‘a silent mouth is sweet to hear’ and yielded the podium to the president.”

I bet there are days President Obama wishes Biden would tattoo that proverb on his palm.

  1. LOL! And some said Sarah Palin was intellectually and educationally unqualified to be the veep….

I used to think that Uncle Joe was half-plastered half the time, and genuinely inebriated the rest of the time. Then I read somewhere that he does not drink. Whatever the truth, he’s an unintentional buffoon. His malapropisms and ignorant statements are classic, and should be collected into a book…then there’s that hilarious video of the man welcoming O and Wife to his home…I thought Uncle Joe was going to start a five-minute handshake with the candidate.

  3. Benson,

I don’t know if Patterico will have time to comment but I’ll send him a link. It reminds me a little of the MySpace case.

  4. I vow tomorrow to write a post consisting of a list of entries with the form: “They told me if I voted for Sarah Palin, an idiot would become Vice President. And they were right!”

  6. “…Biden would tattoo that proverb on his palm.”

In reverse, on his forehead, so he could read it every morning in the mirror.

  8. The original proverb in Irish: Is binn béal ina thost, literally “Sweet is a mouth in its silence”.
