Rielle Hunter: I Can’t Believe That Photo Shoot I Did Without Pants Resulted in Photos of Me Without Pants

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 6:01 am

The Daily Caller picks up the quote:

“She was in tears when she called and said that when she saw the pictures in GQ, she screamed for two hours.” Rielle, who had previously met with Barbara last June in preparation for an interview that never transpired, told Barbara “she found the photographs repulsive. When I asked if that was the case, why did she pose the way she did, she said she trusted Mark Seliger, whom she said is a brilliant photographer, and quote, ‘I went with the flow.’”

Hmmm. Is that how this whole mess got started to begin with?

You can see the photos here. Hard to see how she figured the photos were going to look very different.

Just to ensure that your skin is crawling, the Daily Caller also has a link to a graphic description of what is on that sex tape.

If there is one rational point to be made about all of this, it is that the next Senator of California was right all along.

  1. I wish these folks would just crawl back into the gutter and leave the rest of us alone. Best example of trailer – park trash since the last episode of Springer. Oh, wait – that’s not being fair to the trailer park trash on Springer. Or Maury.

  2. She was trying to prove in that GQ ‘spread’ that she’s as big a WHORE as Edwards. She succeeded.

  3. You know, in this wonderful world of digital photography, unless the GQ people are hell-bent on keeping Kodak film sales and darkroom processing alive, Rielle could have asked to see the photos immediately after the shoot to get an idea of what they looked like. And as a so-called “documentarian”, Hunter should be well-versed in what you can and can’t do in the world of images, both as the person shooting those images and as the subject, so it’s hard to work up a lot of outrage and/or sympathy here.

  4. You guys don’t get it. This world only exists for the benefit of Rielle Hunter. Her whims are laws of nature and an itch she wants scratched is grounds for WWIII.

But you have to wonder ….

John Edwards is in fact a self-made man. A tough, smart, well-educated man who could have been a millworker trudging back and forth with his lunchbox but instead became a half-billionaire. A U.S. Senator, a realistic candidate for Vice-President and President. What kind of woman was he married to that would send him to the likes of Rielle?

  7. Temptation calls and, in the way of the world, more than a few men, and women for that matter, will answer.

But John Edwards was a forty something guy when he met Rielle Hunter–apparently for the first time in the Oak Room bar of the Plaza Hotel. And the first thing he learned about her was that she was into New Age mumbo jumbo. Now a bimbo is a bimbo–but if you’re forty plus years old, and you are too dumb to beat a very hasty retreat from a “New Age” spouting bimbo, well then you’re too damned dumb to be out in the streets without your mother holding your hand.

  8. I think that when contemplating to stick your weenie into the likes of Rielle Hunter, it’s more a lapse of the sense of self-preservation. And I love you, too, Icy Texan.

  9. You wrote: “What kind of woman was he married to that would send him to the likes of Rielle?” Is it Elizabeth’s fault that he cheated on her? or is the personal responsibility his?

    Icy Texan (0af32b)

  10. I dunno, Icy Texan.

  11. I’m sorry, what’s the big f***ing deal?

The one photo shown at the link is hardly revealing, and there’s nothing wrong with the other.

The “revealing” photo, cripes, she could be wearing short shorts and you couldn’t tell.

    Jeez. Betty Grable showed more…

    :/

    IgotBupkis (79d71d)

  12. The kind of think John Edwards did before he cheated on his children and wife was also extremely trashy. Some lawyers are simply trashy people (and some aren’t). John Edwards’s greed and ego are so consistent throughout his life.

It’s disturbing to see this woman trying to look sexy with her child… a kid who is going to have some problems before of this mess. But people like Lisa Druck are everywhere in every corner of the world, and I really don’t care about that.

What I care about is that John Edwards almost came within ‘a heartbeat’ of the presidency. He came closer to the VP office that Sarah Palin did, and his lack of experience and extreme selfishness and dishonesty are far more extreme than any problem I’ve seen in Palin. That a major political party would elevate someone like Edwards, cover up stories about his behavior, and even bash those reporting truth, tells me that I can’t trust the democrats who remain.

And it also tells me that those freaking out about Palin’s elevation to VP nominee being ‘scary’, but not expressing more serious concern with Edwards are lousy folks.

  13. You seem to be implying that his life with Elizabeth was so horrible that he took an “any port in the storm” approach in choosing a mistress. Well, how many women that knowingly sleep with a married man are women of high character? Katherine Hepburn? There’s ONE.

He chose an immoral loser because the moralistic winners weren’t interested.

  16. Ms. Trailer Park should publish the entire photo shoot in a “coffee table” format with one big glossy photo per page, and market it as a dietary/weight loss aid…..

those two shots sure put me off my feed this morning. %-P

  17. Is John Edwards a better man because he’s not carrying a lunch pail down to the mill, and in fact made a fortune peddling lies to juries?

Of course not. Any normal intelligent people who aren’t confusedly trying to justify certain realities in the legal profession see that as obvious.

It’s not that John was a great man who fell from grace because of a single affair, driven mad be an angry wife and a sexy woman (who is barely a 5 out of 10). It’s that John was a bad man who succeeded at moral crimes all his life, up to today when he gets to replace his wife and kids with a younger more vulnerable woman. It’s not like his current embarrassment and end of his very short and basically results-free political career is some kind of punishment. It’s just falling short of his endless self promotion goal.

This man truly is not Bill Clinton. The comparison is possible, but Clinton at least was an effective man with serious flaws, rather than a thug in a nice suit.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  18. Best line of the day:

The hanky-panky behind the back of his cancer-stricken wife is bad enough, but taping it? What a dolt! And we’re supposed to be worried about Palin?

    The amazed Dana (3e4784)

  19. Well, Dustin, Bill Clinton made it look easy, they should have figured that Edwards, was a bottom sucking, ambulance chasing, hypocritical Kos dwelling slug, but his big cause was ‘health care’;the vanilla flavor of ‘hope and change, so all this went by the wayside

    ian cormac (0a5527)

  20. IgotBupkis,

I agree that anyone really paying attention to Lisa Druck / Rielle Hunter Maxxxamillion Boggins is wasting their time.

Her photos aren’t that racey objectively, unless you think about her screwing a man as his wife takes chemo. It’s like Monica Lewinsky shooting an advertisement for cigars or hot dogs… Of course, Monica was simply a teenager who was impressed with an incredibly powerful boss, and handled the scandal better.

But these pictures, some of them, look like those flyers in Las Vegas for hookers. Particularly the fuzzy photography meant to disguise her homeliness. That Edwards and Druck are trash isn’t significant. That trash came close to being the VP is.

    Dustin (b54cdc)

  21. Edwards is neither the first nor the last to trash a career over a sexual infatuation. Kings, Presidents, and the guy who delivers the mail have all participated. When the little head does the thinking, the thinking suffers.

    Bar Sinister (4e07cf)

  22. > Her photos aren’t that racy objectively, unless you think about her screwing a man as his wife takes chemo.

Dustin, everything I’m seeing is that the story is about what it’s supposed to be about, which is Edwards carrying on behind the back of his wife. The girl involved is pretty much irrelevant. The pix are a particularly irrelevant sideshow. So people should be ignoring them, and mostly ignoring her.

The problem here is that Clinton already showed that the public really, really doesn’t give a rat’s patootie about politician’s peccadilloes, unless they’re members of the GOP.

So even this is largely a waste of energy, and is probably being used by the Dems as a distraction from their other chicaneries. Like their efforts to get away with Health Care’s non-voting bypassage into law…

So this folderol is all around a pointless article of no value to conservatives or Republicans. It should be ignored.

    IgotBupkis (79d71d)

  23. From what I have read–Sounds like the Clintons’ and the Edwards’ marriages have quite a few similarities–Both the personality types (hard driving political wives and southern good-old-boys with flexible morals) and the interactions (at least, verbal altercations between spouses).

Not sure that this is a rare combination in political families…

  25. Hey Jim, I hope your knee is mending well! Maybe it’s futile to tell people not to care about this trainwreck of sex and sleaze and a jerk’s reputation being obliterated. But people should care more about the idea of Edwards’s elevation to VP slot. I’m not a birther by any stretch (dude was born in Hawaii), but I heard many say ‘the democrats would have found out about that already’. Nope. Democrats (and Republicans) aren’t that good at weeding.

BfC, it’s unfair of me to note that Michelle Obama has that hardass Hillary vibe as well. Barack appears to be a pretty decent family man (who the hell knows, but at least he projects family values and inspires a lot of people in that direction). But the vibe of scowling wife is damn consistent on the left. Teresa Heinz, Hillary, Liz Edwards.

I guess Tipper Gore is the exception, but she’s not real.

Agreed. And if Sarah Palin had conducted herself in this manner, my opinion wouldn’t change. Fortunately for her, her personal relationships have been so un-scandalous that they had to make schtuff up about her.

I am 99.46% sure that Obama was born in Hawaii. But I believe that he won’t EVER release his original birth certificate because it contradicts some vital part of his life story. He’s already on record lying like a rug to portray himself as being a child of the civil rights movement.

I don’t want to threadjack. If you want to argue with me about this, let’s see what you got. Click the link, read my piece, email me.

  28. LN, respectfully I don’t want to discuss that one, and I didn’t mean to raise the issue either. You’re right that there’s an amazing amount of dishonesty and secrecy about Obama.

All I was saying is that this argument that the democrats are so zealous in winning nominations that they would always disclose and root out any secret is just ridiculous. Same for the GOP. Most potential scandals probably go to the grave without being broadcast. Edwards managed to get a media blackout. Of course, Mccain got front page NYT coverage of an affair that never even happened.

  35. LN, you nailed the motivation I had for dismissing birthers in the same breath that I brought up some issue tangentially related to it. So no apology necessary. It’s just a reality of discourse, and while it doesn’t annoy me, I can understand why it could annoy a totally reasonable person.

Hey, I want to see what the hell Obama’s trying to hide on his birth certificate too. I’d probably think less of him if it’s nothing, since he’s played quite an ugly and expensive game with this. But I am convinced he was born in Hawaii, not that I really want to discuss that specific issue. It’s just interesting to note how effectively John Edwards was able to keep this out of any major media outlet. If it weren’t for the Drudge Report, would the Lewinsky story have been buried? Probably. How many journalists followed Edwards around enough to know about this?

And yet it’s John Mccain who gets smeared for an affair that didn’t occur. Bush who is the coke-head (even though Obama’s the one who admits to snorting up).
