Super Bowl Preview: Colts vs Saints
[Guest post by DRJ]
The Super Bowl is tomorrow night and while I don’t have a favorite team this year, anticipating the Super Bowl is always exciting.
I ran across this clever religious-themed tribute to the New Orleans Saints, but the Saints aren’t the only ones with religion in their corner. The Super Bowl Sister has picked the Indianapolis Colts to win 31-22.
Feel free to cheer on your favorite or add your predictions here.
– DRJ

God could not care less about who wins. I, on the other hand, care very much.

I know the feeling, JD, but you will survive even if they lose. You just won’t be any fun to live with for a day or two.

A day or two? Good allah. I will have to avoid tall buildings for a month if we lose to the Taints.

Who will win? Good question. What would happen if the Saints won? The Chargers would be sold and moved to LA (Drew Brees qv).

The officials must be keeping their choice well under wraps, for this to be considered a fair contest. Whatever the outcome, I’ll take it as rigged, in light of the Saints v. Vikings game.
Not that the game isn’t entertaining (in general), or that the paid-off side can’t make good. But the NFL is just pro-wrestling in a different dress.

cboldt – If the officials and owners let on how they’re betting and who the fix is in for ahead of time it screws up the betting ling lines. You know this. Dur.

Seems like people picking the Colts to win are basing everything on Manning. He’s only one player.
Saints 37 Colts 23

Alas! I won’t get to see the game, in that I have to pick up our older daughter from Reserve drill and take her back to State College. By the time I get back home, the game will be over.
Two good teams, but I doubt it’ll be a good game; the Super Bowl is usually a blow-out, and my best guesstimate is 38-16 Colts.
Of course, I really want the Oakland Raiders to win!

May God turn Taints fans ankles, so we can see them coming. I ain’t gonna reply to Gerald, Pat, or reff, other than to say I hope you wake up tomorrow rather disappointed

Colts 31
Saints 20
Manning play overpowers Manning legacy.

Right now Vegas has the Colts -5, and 57 on the o/u.
In big games I almost always go with experience unless the points are too good to pass up. So, in recognition of the excellent defensive teams on both sides, I’m going with the Saints +5 and I’ll take the under.

I just hope it’s a close game.
I would like to see the Saints win….

I’m not recovered yet from when the blasted, sneak away in the middle of the night bloody Colts *spitspitspit* beat the Ravens. I’d love the Colts *spitspitspit* to loose and get humiliated like the sneak away in the middle of the night douchebags they were when they left Baltimore. Bastards.
Not that I’m still bitter.
However, I can’t help but get totally irritated about all the “poor poor Saints in New Orleans, waaaaaa katrina waaaaaa they should win”. Whatever. I am sick to death of the whinging over the aftermath of Katrina. Blahdeblahblah.
As I write there are commercials about how we have to help New Orleans. Want my help? Quit whinging and make me want to come spend tourist dollars visiting your city while I eat some jambalaya and sit at Cafe du Monde.

I went to a playoff game in Baltimore, Colts @ Ravens, and those are some angry hatey bitter fans. They remind me of timb, but not that whiny mewling passive-aggressive crap.

Go Bears!!!!
Bring Back Rex Grossman!!!!

Ya’ll are lightweights when it comes to being NFL bitterness. I’m still boycotting the Cowboys because of the way Jerry Jones dissed Tom Landry.
Comment by DRJ — 2/7/2010 @ 1:07 pm
As well you should, DRJ. That was a travesty of epic proportions.

Uh, Ropelight, me-thinks the Saints are the Aints when it comes to defense.
Regular season, their D was 25 out of 32 teams and post-season (so far), 9 out of 12 teams.
Still gonna root for ‘em, but their Offense better be hot-hot.
Any fan base that can root for a team like the Saints
year after yeardecade after decade with no true glory years, well, that’s loyalty — gotta reward that…(I mean) datComment by Pons Asinorum — 2/7/2010 @ 2:01 pm

Angry, hatey and bitter are specialties of Baltimoron Football fans. You got issue with that? (Insert raised eyebrow smilie here)

I agree.
The cowboys will go the way of the raiders.
Not worth a damn, until their owner dies.
Comment by Teetop — 2/7/2010 @ 6:43 pm
#23, Pons, so how do you like the Saints defense now? BTW, the Saints +5 and the under at 57 were both moneymakers.
Comment by ropelight — 2/8/2010 @ 9:14 am
They did the job, that’s all that counts (the first 3 quarters, we’ll just not talk about).
Guess that’s why this game has to be played on the field, not by stats
