Just in time for New Year’s, geoff at Innocent Bystanders has “productivized” his famous Stimulus Chart:

null

NOTE: I don’t have any financial interest in the linked website or in the sale of these products, but I like the chart.

  1. Why couldn’t Obama have voted present on the stimulus? When did he start to think he knew anything?

  2. Off topic, but the voice of “Top Cat”, Arnold Stang has passed away. He was 91.

  3. Thank God they passed that stimulus….

That’s lame as hell, Top Cat was the shiz when I was like 7. Which was like 35 years after Top Cat first aired.

So remember Obamacare? It had to be passed before August? And then before September? And then before October? And then before November? And then before Christmas? Turns out Obama changed his mind and we don’t need Obamacare to be on his desk until February. I guess he finally noticed that people aren’t too happy about the subject of DRJ’s post, eh?

  5. Never let a crisis go to waste.

    Increased unemployment? More government programs.

  6. They’re going to need a larger y-axis on that chart.

  7. Sadly, I think you’re probably right, plep.

  8. Bonus Feature is the administration’s refusal to correct the stimulus site for the bogus jobs saved or created claims unearthed after they publicly reported the data.

  9. Let’s not forget part of that porkulus bill doesn’t kick in until 2010 and another part doesn’t kick in until 2012. I wonder why.

Then there’s the “crush your used cars” thing that cost triple what they planned for and the duration was much shorter than they planned.

Then there’s the “first time home buyer” thing that didn’t exactly get the housing market going. And it’s now being reported that thousands of people wrongly got that federal credit.

And they’re throwing another porkulus bill in, using unused TARP (borrowed) funds because the first porkulus bill (which hasn’t even been spent yet) failed.

Forget double-dip, this is at least a three-scoop ice cream cone of a recession in the making.

  11. I’m part of that red line.

    It sucks.

    I’m sorry and it does.

  13. I’m not part of that red line. When I lost my job last November, I fell through the cracks so I didn’t get put on that red line. Now that I’m making less than 1/3 of what I made last year, I’m still not part of that red line.

But at least the credit card companies quit calling me. (I wonder if it has anything to do with my home phone getting shut off.)

  14. You think that’s bad? I’m trying to get by selling crappy t-shirts with charts on them!

Heh. Thanks for the link. I suspect the chart will undergo mucho revision before that red line ever touches the blue line.

JH, whether intended or not, the humor in that was very welcome.
