GatewayPundit: GLSEN Handed Out Bar Guides to Teens

Filed under: Obama — DRJ @ 4:04 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

GatewayPundit has published several posts on Kevin Jennings, Obama’s Safe Schools Czar and former executive director of GLSEN. (For example, here, here, here and here.) The latest post claims GLSEN passed out guides to gay bars to teens at several GLSEN events:

“Earlier today it was reported that Kevin Jennings’ Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) organization was distributing gay bar directories to high school students at the 2005 Massachusetts GLSEN conference.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. Mass Resistance Blog today reported that GLSEN passed out directories to gay “leather” bars to teens at several of their events.

GLSEN organization also passed out guides to gay leather bars in Chicago to students in 2000.”

Michelle Malkin will be discussing this on Hannity tonight, and the Washington Times published an editorial on Obama’s Risky-Sex Czar. The Washington Times editorial offers a brief overview of the claims if you don’t have time for all the links.

  1. I’ve seen some people argue that GLSEN did not pass out the guides, but they were passed out at GLSEN sponsored conferences so the argument is lame.

With the drinking age 21 nationally, there is no way the student target audience of the conferences should have been able to legally gain admittance to the bars. The purpose of including the bar guides in the back of the books was to….?

  5. No, no, they’re not after kids.

    nk (df76d4)

  6. It’s pretty clear why they want to lead young, fresh, vulnerable kids to leather bars. Demand drives the market, GLSEN is the conduit. I’m betting that somewhere along the line, they monetarily benefit. It’s some sort of horrible round about way to exploit minors.

  7. GLSEN isn’t trying to make schools safe, they’re trying to expose teenagers to homosexual sex, pedophilia, sex between very young children and sadomasochism.

    And, that’s NOT o.k.

Get a freaking clue. It is NOT acceptable to recommend that children read stories about a five year old girl and a six year old girl spanking each other and french kissing. It is not acceptable to put on events where high scool students are given “guides” to homosexual saloons.

There is no justification whatsoever for this nonsense, and the idea that if kids are exposed to this kind of stuff, it’s somehow going to make their school SAFER is just totally insane.

Jennings needs to be fired (and he ought to be investigated too, for aiding in the distribution of child pornography, among other things), and Obama ought to be impeached for putting this guy in ANY federal job.

  8. GLSEN is most certainly not in the business of making schools safe – and amongst other things, what they are indeed in the business of, is putting a wedge between young people and their parents, and then they are able to move in for the kill (so to speak).

It’s a hard left group and like all of them, propagandizing and indoctrinating the vulnerable for their own sordid gain is their sum total.

  9. “No, no, they’re not after kids.”

nk – Absolutely. Just showing the kids where they might meet some friends.

Plus lowering the age of consent has never, ever (fingers crossed) been part of the homosexual agenda.

  11. I browsed the brochure. I see at the end an acknowledgement to the Mass Dept of Public Health. That bothers me more than any GLSEN connection.

  12. Let me guess, they handed out gay directories which had bars in them?

    Moral panic time!

  13. daleyrocks and nk, I went to college in Massachusetts, in the Boston area. Because of the huge student population, the local bars were always very strict about carding anyone who looked under 30. Even after I turned 21 I would often get hassled because I had an out-of-state drivers license, and they would have to check it against the book to make sure it was legit.

It was pretty well-known, however, that the gay and lesbian bars of Cambridge were notorious for not checking IDs. Even straight under-21 college kids — and apparently a fair share of high school kids — would show up there for the dance music and to get served alcohol. It was rumored that because Cambridge had a gay mayor at the time that the order had gone out to leave the gay and lesbian bars alone. Looks like things haven’t changed in 20 years.

And here I thought I slammed SEK for falsely accusing *others* of race-baiting.

  17. The bigger picture here is that while it can’t be proven, there is increasing evidence that the Obama administration is being used as a base to launch an influential and pedophile-friendly movement. Not the President himself but rather someone very close to him – this Kevin Jennings. Who else is involved in this?
I fired off letters to my Senators yesterday asking that they look into this. Do not sit back and complain about this, this is huge. Write your reps immediately.

  19. I have not followed one word of this controversy — too little time — but I want people to be nice to happyfeet. He has earned it.

    Patterico (64318f)

  20. Yeah, this is what offended me more than a lot of the creepy things involved. Not only are the people attending too young to drink, but then it is shoving kids as young as 14 in with adults. They just seem too accepting of man-boy love.

    Patterico

    > but I want people to be nice to happyfeet. He has earned it.

With respect, happyfeet has lost his mind on this issue. https://patterico.com/2009/12/06/that-quote-most-of-you-called-racist-was-written-by-robert-stacy-mccain/#comment-594561, see #224

I mean according to him all of this stuff from Gateway is bigotry.

And its sad because while I haven’t done a study of him exactly, but he seemed like an otherwise rational guy. But here he is saying it is bigotry to say, gee, maybe kids shouldn’t be taught about “water sports.”

    Dave Surls

    > There is no justification whatsoever for this nonsense, and the idea that if kids are exposed to this kind of stuff, it’s somehow going to make their school SAFER is just totally insane.

To repeat a joke, I mean what’s next? A treasury secretary who didn’t pay his taxes?

  21. There should be a warning on the bar guide to check all drinks for roofies.

    Techie (482700)

  22. How could you hand out a bar guide to people who by definition could not legally be in the bars they were told to frequent? Would liberals say that we should just view these youngsters as ‘undocumented gay bar goers’ and let the bars off the hook. Or claim that it would be ‘discriminatory’ not to allow these undocumented bar goers to go to bars because if they’re old enough to watch High School Musical I, II and III, they’re old enough to get high in leather bars on alcohol.
Shouldn’t encouraging minors to engage in illegal acts be subject to criminal penalties? Oh wait, I forgot this was in Mass, where one can get away with murder with the right (or should that be the left) political connections. Isn’t that the state that also gave us a former State Attorney General who whitewashed ACORN’s pimp and child prostitute scandal (or is it racist to say that a minority organization like ACORN is being ‘whitewashed’?)
PC is such a pretzel like nuanced enterprise.

  23. Are there no child endangerment laws in Mass?

  24. Patterico, I’m sure you know how I roll. And I’m sure you cringe when you see me rolling in some subjects. But you have to admit that, even when I’m rolling, I do have respect for people whose views are contrary to mine.

That said, I respect footsie. I even admire footsie’s comment style. It’s a breath of fresh air, and his words can often be more bitingly true while simultaneously non-confrontational than most anyone else can muster. But footsie has lost his marbles entirely on this one.

“He’s earned it” is what I have to say about any and all snark aimed at footsie on this particular subject matter. Footsie’s toast turned to charcoal while he let it rest on the campfire too long, and it’s only right to mock him for it. Doesn’t mean I don’t respect and value his unique insight into other matters, I do, but I have no respect for his rabid attack-response to any who point out “Good Luck, SIN” is a bad, bad, bad organization and Jennings is the leader of that bad, bad, bad organization.

    John Hitchcock (3fd153)

  25. “it’s only right to mock him for it”

John Hitchcock – I disagree that mocking has to be any part of it. I think feets see the campaign as all hate and perhaps anti-gay, but I don’t want to put words in his mouth. I don’t think he may fully appreciate the anger parents feel over some of the crap that gets fed to kids these days in school and the attitudes stem more from a protect the children feeling. If there was a group pitching spit or swallow, front or back door, and books with bar guides to straight high school kids it would still be wrong, wrong, wrong and the person heading the group should not be qualified for the position of Safe Schools Czar. It’s not a one way street.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  26. Oh, except kids still need parental permission for schools to dispense aspirin, but not for abortion referrals, so there’s stuff like that already embedded.

    daleyrocks (718861)

  27. Please remember, the “Good Luck, SIN” conventions had security guards whose assignments were to prevent adults from accompanying underage children in the lectures where those self-same underage children were taught the glorious art of fisting, among other honorable things.

    John Hitchcock (3fd153)

  28. Daley

Well, the good news is that the supreme court said you can’t strip search a 13 year old girl just to see if she has advil.

Yes, I am not making that. that really happened in a case.
