Jesse Jackson Declares Support for ObamaCare an Indispensable Part of Being Black

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 6:48 am

His quote: “We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill . . . You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.

Allahpundit’s exit question: Will our post-racial president be coming to [Rep. Artur] Davis’s aid on this one or will he be left to suffer in silence in the interests of passing ObamaCare?

In other words: will Obama pursue principle or politics?

I assume the question was rhetorical.

  1. He’ll propose having a beer bong with the other two on the Rose Garden. Worked so well with the Gates thing…

  2. I am so glad I have permission from Jesse Jackson to vote against health care and call myself a white man.

Everyone should wait for instructions from Jesse Jackson before we take a position on issues and our race.

  7. That’s really a lot disgusting and fascist and sick. Economic policies based on racial identity are not America.

  8. So, you’re not a real black man unless you’re on medical welfare from the government?

    That sounds racist to me.

  10. Good chance for Obama to have a Sistah Souljah Moment here by getting one of his trained MSM seals to ask him about Jackson’s remark then reject it in a calm but clear comment.

  11. Jessie Jackson said, “…You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

Yes you can, and you can also call yourself an American who’s telling Jackson to go suck eggs!

  12. Had to love how so many corporations fell in line to support Jackson’s racial blackmailing.

Maybe he will yet be there for Baracky or Michelle if either has a problem cheaating on the other. If Clinton had so much booty thrown at him and many in the media express a desire to boink or bj Urkel, isn’t it possible to have rumors? Never was sure how true the Ear Leader going homo with some in that racist church. I denounce myself. I wonder how many Joos in Jackson’s Hymietown voted for the magic negro?
Who be the bigger dirtbag-jackson or sharpton??

  14. Question: Are there any black leaders willing to speak out against Jackson on this? Are black people out there saying to themselves, “You know what? He’s actually insulting us. He’s saying that we have to have more welfare, because we are incapable of taking care of ourselves & incapable of raising our standard of living & incapable of doing the right thing for ourselves and our families. Basically, he’s saying that we are too stupid to wipe our own asses so we have to have our nanny-state wipe our asses for us.” ???

  15. #12 asked, “Who be the bigger dirtbag-jackson or sharpton??”

That’s tough call. Sharpton is more of a dirtbag, but Jackson has been at it longer.

Hummm, I guess I’m just going to have to go with Jackson. Yeah, Jackson, more corruption over a longer period of time. Although I do acknowledge a good case could be made for Sharpton.

  17. I already said MONTHS AGO that this was going to turn into a racial thing.

    VOILA!

Free Health Care is the new civil right.

  18. Allow me to restate the obvious (since so many members of the public seem to miss the obvious): the political Left is devoid of morals or principles. Note that the Reverand Jackson makes support of national health care purely a matter of ethnicity; a certain amount of melanin in the skin requires one to support the legislation, irregardless of any considerations of efficiency, or concerns about the power of the State. This is something that those who love liberty must repeat again and again and again, until even the “apolitical” receive the message: the Left has no moral compass, and is only motivated by the desire to assign attributes to people based on political considerations.

  19. Chris Mathews was turning up the bigotry against Sarah Palin last night too.

The true racists and bigots are in the party of intolerance and identity politics, the one that wants to preserve differences between groups and pass hate crimes legislation to further emphasize differences – the Democrats.

  20. Jesse Jackson can kiss my black ass I think.

  23. It’s quite simple. If Jesse doesn’t say something extremely inflammatory, he doesn’t get this kind of attention. Then, he becomes irrelevant. He’s feeling pretty irrelevant right now, what with a black man being elevated to the most lofty position this country has available. What with the USA being one of the first members of the free and wealthy world to put a black man in such a position, almost as though it’s a place where blacks have great opportunities. And most disturbingly, with Barack Obama, a man who is always going to trump Jesse Jackson when it’s time to give credit for civil rights champions and politicians and all that crap.

Sure, Obama didn’t do much, but if Jesse wanted a meritocracy he would have voted for Mccain, though he probably did.

  24. I guess being “black” is no longer an ethnicity or race. It is now an ideology. Thought of in these terms, the attacks on people such as Clarence Thomas and Condoleeza Rice make more sense.
