Obama’s First Year

It won’t be easy for President Obama to top his first year in office — a year that has focused on a new Supreme Court Justice, health care reform, cap and trade legislation, stimulus programs and budget deficits. Not to mention Obama’s decisions regarding foreign policy, Afghanistan, Guantanamo, and detainees. What else is there?

Immigration reform and amnesty:

“Though it would seem unlikely that our President would introduce a controversial immigration reform strategy on the cusp of a healthcare decision in the Senate, he did indeed do that today.

DHS Secretary Napolitano introduced a broad outline for reform during a speech to the Center for America Progress this morning. In it she cited the many advances DHS has made in securing the US Border with Mexico. One of the centerpieces of this effort is the screening of 100% of southbound rail shipments for weapons and cash. While that sounds like a good thing for Mexico the logical question is this: What percent of northbound rail shipments are “screened” and what does “screening mean? Not to sound cynical but this Administration does not have a good record when it comes to spin and telling the absolute truth. The President demonstrated that clearly last week with Healthcare Reform.

The plan calls for a path to citizenship for the 11 million illegal aliens already in the US. On this the administration also seems a bit out of touch. That the vast majority of Mexican illegal invaders according to a recent Zogby Poll have no interest in becoming American Citizens and regardless would hold primary allegiance to Mexico is apparently lost on the President and Secretary Napolitano.”

I think it’s foolish to energize conservatives this way but maybe the Administration believes it only has a limited time to push for its policies. In that case, the first requirement of any immigration reform should be to Deport the Criminals First.

  1. Con Estados Unidos es tan estúpido para dar amnistía a todos los ilegales en este país será de más de plazo, los Estados Unidos ya no existe.

  2. In considering this administration, one basic requirement might be to read an essay on bullshit, which sort of sets the scene. They cannot be trusted to tell us what time it is.

It’s OK. The essay is by a philosopher at Princeton.

    Sort of an Obama primer.

what a stupid waste of time and money. You know our exporters are being charged for that. And for what? Why are these dirty socialist whores what are governing our little country willing to accept statistical sampling for a census used to apportion lord, god and everything but unwilling to allow sampling of cargo shipments? Because they’re idiot socialists what hate capitalism is why. This 100% inspection business might as well be considered a subsidy towards the development of alternative smuggling methods cause that’s how black markets work. Morons. Stupid dirty socialist job-killing Chicago street trash morons.

Our little country is not in good hands.

  4. The Democrats don’t really care whether these people become citizens. They do, however, place a critical priority that they become voters.

If it were somehow possible to enable these 11 million people to vote without becoming citizens, rest assured that every Democrat on the planet would be out registering them.

Of course, that is the real mission of Acorn.

  5. Given Obama’s tunnel vision like priority on health care, I suspect this was a tit for tat for the Hispanic Caucus to buy their votes for the health care bill. I don’t think anything will actually come of it though.

    At least not this year.

  6. ….the first requirement of any immigration reform should be to Deport the Criminals First.

That’s not even happening now, so what makes anyone think it would happen in the future?

It would be just like the border fence – promises, promises, then maybe a burst of activity once the bigger package is passed, which, after the heat does down subsequently shrinks to token efforts.

  7. The DIC (Ditherer in Chief) swore there would be no government health care coverage for illegals. It’s time, therefore, to declare everyone legal. The only way this gets done is before the next Congress sits.

This is as done a deal as there can be.

  8. Ed from SFV, our President thought of everything, covered his bases, and clearly remembers that catchall justification of the left: it’s always, for the children,

Asked by CBS News’ Katie Couric in an exclusive interview whether illegal immigrants should be covered under a new health care plan, President Obama responded simply, “no.” But he said there may need to be an exception to that policy for children.

“First of all, I’d like to create a situation where we’re dealing with illegal immigration, so that we don’t have illegal immigrants,” he said. “And we’ve got legal residents or citizens who are eligible for the plan. And I want a comprehensive immigration plan that creates a pathway to achieve that.”

“The one exception that I think has to be discussed is how are we treating children,” he continued. “Partly because if you’ve got children who may be here illegally but are still in playgrounds or at schools, and potentially are passing on illnesses and communicable diseases, that aren’t getting vaccinated, that I think is a situation where you may have to make an exception.”

I thought the athleticism demonstrated during the deep bow was the highlight. As it unfolded I thought for sure that Obama’s head was going to end up in King Abdullah’s crotch but Obama maintained his equilibrium throughout, which for him is quite unusual.

Unfortunately, this athleticism was balanced out by the 40 foot girlie pitch at the All Star game that was so pathetic the cameras had to pan away to save his presidency.

I guess I’ll find out on Thanksgiving with all my Dem relatives, LOL!

  11. if we are going to deport the criminals first, may i remind everyone that they are *all* here illegally, so they are all criminals…. pack them all up, one and all, and send them back. take DNA samples on all their so called “anchor babies” so that, if they chose, they can apply for readmission at the age of majority.

in the meantime, we will respect their culture and values and allow them to raise their children in their native culture, far from our corrupting influence.

  12. Patricia,

I’m interested in how your relatives think things are going. The Obama supporters I see still blame Bush for leaving him (Obama) in such a bind.
