hey, great comments by john hitchcock; typical of the narcissist strata of society that now seems to predominate in our (so-called) culture. Its all about me,me,me and mine 24/7. But on to Hasan.
This ISLAMO-FASCIST TERRORIST apparently worshipped @ the same mosque, DAR AL-HIJRAH, as two of the 9-11 terrorists, in Virginia, and at the same time, 2001. Also, is it just a coincidence that Hasan shouted out "ALLAH IS GREAT" @ the same time he started his murdering? According to our fool-in-chief, yeah, probably. BOY, does this guy inspire confidence. Confidence that he'll drag us into slavery if we let him. IMPEACH OBAMA'S ASS NOW!! There's not a minute to waste. Because B. HUSSEIN OBAMABOT will do us in if WE DON'T ACT NOW!!---God Bless all--MARKRITE

I want to echo Jay Stevens' remarks. They are very important in a tangential manner.

My daughter was going thru her indoor BCT graduation ceremony. Civilians were placing themselves directly in line of where all the previous graduating Soldiers were marching alone. It was obvious the civilians only cared about getting their picture of their "little soldier kid" and nothing about propriety or respect.

At the end of the ceremony, the civilians milled about in all the aisleways, preventing the Soldiers from getting where they needed to go. The COL got on the PA and explained that the Soldiers needed to get outside to form up to march to the location for the reception and could the civilians please make room for the Soldiers to get out. The civilian response? They didn't even take the time to shut up to hear the PA, nor did they make room for the Soldiers to get out.

My daughter remarked (this is just completing BCT) that civilians are undisciplined, unruly, inconsiderate and self-centered. She had contempt for those civilians and I was ashamed to be among the civilian class, even though I used to wear a uniform.

If I were in uniform today, chances are I wouldn't have much to do with idiot civilians either. And I felt more comfortable walking around at Fort Lost in the woods and Fort Hood than I have in my (blah blah) years in this rinky-dink town.

Comment 71: "... and second, both tend to exclude from their social circles people who are not members or closely connected with their professions. Isolation, yes, but also the creation of a closed intellectual and emotional hotbed. Comments?"

No. What it really is that we discover we have very little in common with the civilian world. It's been like that since Viet Nam.

David R. Graham, your declaration Re: Obama and Muslims is a non-starter. Upon looking at your link, I found plenty of context that shoots your declaration full of holes.
