Obama-Fox News Truce (Updated)

Filed under: Obama — DRJ @ 2:44 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

The White House and Fox News have reportedly called a truce. Allahpundit at Hot Air has the details.

At best, I see this as a Christmas truce that came a little early.

UPDATE — I guess the White House wasn’t kidding about the battlefield terminology:

“White House strategists say they have no second thoughts about taking on Fox News in the biggest media feud of President Obama’s administration. A senior Obama adviser says that, even though the West Wing has been roundly criticized by both adversaries and some allies for blasting Fox as an arm of the Republican Party and not a real news organization, administration insiders are pleased with how things stand.
***
One drawback, which even Obama aides concede, is that Fox is using the quarrel with the White House as a public-relations tool to stir up its own support among conservatives and to boost ratings. “They’re still at it,” says a senior Obama aide, who adds that White House officials don’t expect to fire another shot in the battle unless Fox strikes first.”

  1. Maybe after they viewed Valerie Jarrett’s interview on CNN they had a change of heart – even CNN took issue with her inane and childish tantrums against Fox. It doesn’t matter what they say at this point – they’ve shown the world (and our enemies) how weak and feckless they truly are.

FoxNews was kicking a$$, and taking names.

  3. That Jarrett interview was simply surreal, Dmac.

  4. This is a prelude as to how President Icarus will handle both Iraq and Afghanisstan.

Declare victory (“we made our point”) and walk away.

  5. The WH seems to be controlling the dialogue, just by targeting Fox. This is still about Acorn, Van Jones, the NEA, pay for play… constant Obama corruption. So those elected or otherwise ‘appointed’ just completed another round of point & distract.

  7. The White House has the same policy as in Afghanistan so no real surprise at all here.

  10. Jarrett had the audacity to say that they are speaking truth to power.

And why wouldn’t they? Fox is first and foremost, a business. And businesses are in the business of making money. They’ve been handed a PR dream on a silver platter and Fox is simply, and happily, making the most of the WH gift that just keeps on giving.

I’d love to see how badly her South Side real estate deals tanked when the IOC gave Chicago the finger.

  13. Yes, Fox is indeed an outlier in the journalistic community — they ask tough questions of the Messiah!

Yes, “they’re still at it”! That’s the job of the media…isn’t it?

Don’t worry about her investment portfolio – no doubt Daley got some poor schmuck to have the properties transferred to them as soon as that decision came down.

  17. “White House officials don’t expect to fire another shot in the battle unless Fox strikes first.”

    — Really? The WH actually employs people, and pays them MONEY to say “they started it”?

There’s your hard-earned tax dollars at work, folks.

  18. ‘Fire the first shot?’

Notice how butch the WH weenies sound when dealing with FOX but run screaming like little girls when challenged by our real enemies. These geeks are so far out of their league that the only result they can realistically expect from Taliban/Al Qaeda in response is that they laugh themselves into a catatonic stupor at the fearsomely neutered Chicago Way.

    Well, how about them apples?

Now, just how in blue blazes can FOX NEWS function as a news organization and NOT fire shots at White House officials?

Isn’t that what news is all about, or have the Pigs taken over the Farm.
