NCAA Football, Week 8 (Updated)
[Guest post by DRJ]
Here’s a link to today’s scores. Florida and Mississippi State are tied at 13 in the 3rd quarter and the Tennessee-Alabama game was exciting, wasn’t it?

UPDATE on Top 25 upsets:
#8 Miami lost to Clemson. #21 Texas Tech lost to Texas A&M. #25 Oklahoma beat #24 Kansas.
The other Top 25 teams won today except: #16 BYU lost to #10 TCU, #4 USC is leading Oregon State in the 4th quarter, and #6 Boise State is just underway at Hawaii.
No mention of the mighty Northwestern Wildcats coming back from a 28-3 deficit to beat Indiana 29-28?
daleyrocks (718861) — 10/24/2009 @ 6:49 pmI didn’t see that. That would have been a great game to watch.
DRJ (dff2ca) — 10/24/2009 @ 6:51 pmTexas looks strong. Florida should be slaughtering Miss St. I am struggling because both games are on at the same time, as well as 2 of my favorite movies ever – American Pie and Chasing Amy.
JD (5f9cc7) — 10/24/2009 @ 6:52 pmMy husband almost had a heart attack at the end of the Tennessee-Alabama game. He’s a Boise state fan and wants to see some upper ranked teams knocked down.
Gina (d38bf6) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:04 pmGolden Tate should move into the Heisman discussion. The guy drew triple coverage at times today, and still managed two touchdowns.
He committed the boneheaded celebration penalty at Michigan in week 1. But, other than that, he has been dominant week in and week out.
Matador (e01f85) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:21 pmWhat an ending to the Iowa game.
JD (e3dc5c) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:23 pmA&M beat Tech in Lubbock, so I’m happy.
Except, for the fact it’s the first time A&M beat Tech in Lubbock for over a decade.
And after the debacle last weekend at K-State, at least I can hope for the future, since a lot of the starters are freshmen or red-shirts.
As Yoda would say: Gloat, I will not.
Especially since my boss’ son just got accepted to Tech.
Ag80 (815bcd) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:38 pmCongratulations, Ag80. It’s great to see the Aggies come back and to do it in Lubbock is impressive. And here’s a shout-out to any TCU fans out there, too. Go Frogs.
DRJ (dff2ca) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:46 pmJD,
I didn’t see Iowa squeak that one out but it can’t have been much more exciting than that Miami-Clemson finish.
DRJ (dff2ca) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:48 pmDRJ:
Thanks and I agree with you about the Frogs. Those purple guys are doing it big time.
And after Iowa State’s win over Nebraska, my guys better have their helmets on straight next week.
Ag80 (815bcd) — 10/24/2009 @ 7:56 pmI updated the post with the Top 25 results.
DRJ (dff2ca) — 10/24/2009 @ 8:11 pmSC could not stop Oregon State in the second half but Barkley pulled them through in spite of a couple of freshman errors that become touchdowns. Carroll seems to have been outcoached again but his team pulled him out.
Mike K (addb13) — 10/24/2009 @ 9:26 pmWhen are they going to get a damn playoff? The way they rank teams in the BCS is mind-bogglingly stupid. Just get the damn playoffs already. All the excuses schools offer don’t make any damn sense, not even from a financial perspective. Don’t they see how much money basketball gets from March madness?
The school have all gotten so good, and there’s so much talent, even smaller schools can compete now. Parity has come to the NCAA. SO the ranking systems are out of whack and all these other schools are left out. My top reason for not watching NCAA football, though I do watch some just to be current.
