A Fairy Tale

Beldar has written a fairy tale that explains how Obama plans to bring health care to America:

King Canute and the Magic Pony

Read it twice … or more … because Beldar has slipped in several clever references. It reminds me of the Fractured Fairy Tales I enjoyed on Rocky & Bullwinkle, especially one called King Midas.

  1. Yes–Obama seems strangely unaware of how unbelievable he sounds. I fear he’s been flattered too much.

Mind you, this garbles the (probably apocryphal) story of Canute. His gave his command to the tide to cease both to illustrate the limits of the king’s power and to rebuke flatterers.

Be that as it may: yes–Obama seems strangely unaware of how unbelievable he sounds. I fear he’s been flattered too much.

Quien sabe? Xerxes ordered the sea whipped to enhearten his troops, by Herodotus’s account. That he was supreme and not even the sea could disobey him with impunity. Then they all drowned in a sea battle at Salamis. Don’t #$%^ with the sea and don’t #$%^ with the American people, I would say.
