Sen. Specter Grilled in Pennsylvania (Updated)

Filed under: Government — DRJ @ 12:38 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Here’s a YouTube video of Sen. Arlen Specter’s townhall today in Lebanon, Pennsylvania:

Specter seems overwhelmed by what hit him but there was a moment of humor at 7:56 when a questioner thanks Specter for “showing courage” by appearing before “the people who have sent you to Washington — the Republicans.”

However, one of my favorite parts is the questioner who began where this video leaves off. I’m looking to see if it’s been posted elsewhere. Let me know if you find it.

UPDATE 1: More video from Specter’s townhall, including the lady at 1:40 who is “sick of the lies” by this Administration and audio of Specter at 9:00 when he said “I don’t have any requirement to be here.”

UPDATE 2: I think the Instapundit must have seen the same report I did, because the excerpt I saw included a questioner who was “citing health bill page numbers and CBO estimates.” It was my impression that’s when Specter decided he wanted the townhall to end.

  1. It would be fun to be the ad agency that gets to make the campaign commercials against Sen. Specter.

  2. Please, he will forever be referred to as “Gelatinous Traitor-Tool.”

How transcendentally arrogant does “Gel” have to be to, essentially, to tell his freakin’ constituents that they are lucky he showed up at all?

Divinely, blindly, transcendentally arrogant, I believe

  3. I will give him credit though – he went from the Philly meeting, which is his hometown and a big democrat area, to central Pennsylvania, where the voter base in Lebanon is highly conservative Pennsylvania Dutch ancestors. Truly the belly of the beast for dems. He had no doubt that he was walking into a buzzsaw, and overall he took it like a man.

I still don’t agree with this bill, but I wish more of our elected rulers would come out to face the fire.

  4. Please don’t confuse Senator Boob with facts. Good lord we have hit rock bottom with the quality of our politicians. Turn this one OUT.

  5. Grill this one well done, please.

  6. Please, he will forever be referred to as “Gelatinous Traitor-Tool.

If I was doing the ad campaign for his challenger, I’d just do a split screen with his weird, accented – mush mouth delivery juxtaposed with a Looney Tunes vid featuring Foghorn Leghorn. The similarities are positively eerie. “I say, I say, Boah!”

  7. When I see Specter all I can think of is the most horrid and painful demise that is befitting this giant abortion of a human being.

  8. Imagine having to close out your career and life as pathetically and ignominiously as this guy. But that’s justice. Good riddance.

  9. It is striking that the care that Sen. Specter receives for his cancer (and that “Plugs” Biden has received for his follically-challenged scalp, is pointedly denied to those who are paying the bill for these two examples of why term-limits (or mandatory retirement ages) should have been written into the Constitution.
The good thing is that “Snarlin’ Arlen” will be turned out by his constituents next year, and “Slow Joe” has been marginalized to the affect that his influence on the direction of the country is minimized, and hopefully leading to his political retirement in ’12.

  10. For those who haven’t seen the entire Specter townhall meeting, here it is:

    http://www.c-span.org/Watch/Media/2009/08/11/HP/A/22045/Sen+Arlen+Specter+DPA+Health+Care+Town+Hall.aspx

Watch at the end when a questioner asks the Senator if he’ll get rid of the unconstitutional and illegal WH “fishy e – mail” gathering operation. Specter has no idea what the man’s talking about! The man tries to tell him that “it’s been all over the news the past two weeks.” Unbelievable.

  11. “I don’t have any requirement to be here.”

    That’s true, Senator.

Feel free to resign at any time.

  12. “I don’t have any requirement to be here.”

Well if that is so Senator, who the fuck do you work for exactly?

Can you imagine a CEO saying that to his Shareholders????????

  13. #13, Specter is vermin and a disease of a human. Me cago la puta de su madre.

But isn’t this how all the vermin in Washington act?

Time to water the tree of liberty!

  15. Arlen is one of those where I’ll probably get thrown into moderation really really fast if you do a thread for him when it’s his time and that will be ok, so giddy will I be.

  16. Maybe more of us should check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeYscnFpEyA and take THESE questions to the town hall meetings!!

This We The People Stimulus Package Video is PRICELESS!

    Karen (788897)

  17. And since it’s impossible to have a nice conversation when you’re either in the moderation or teetering on the brink of the moderation I’ll just take this moment to say that when these craven grasping codgers are demonstrably hellbent on not relinquishing power until God Himself strikes their pompous self-important geriatric asses down, it seems ungracious to elide remembrance of their indefatigable demeaning of their offices and of themselves. It is who they are.

    happyfeet (42470c)

  18. LOL

    JD (d3d21b)

  19. happyfeet, Arlen strikes me as one of those people who lives a very long time. Which will give Arlen plenty of time out of power to consider how his desperate maneuvering destroyed whatever legacy he built.

He can ask himself what exactly he stood for and if he helped any. This being a democracy, and one that almost entirely is angry with arlen, I think it’s fair to say he didn’t succeed.

  20. I’m an african american who has seen a lot done to my people at the hands of almost every american citizen or their ancestor. I know Quakers have been responsible for helping African Americans during slavery. It just doesn’t seem that we had as much squacking over the past 8 years of the administration. It’s just that I’m a citizen, educated, a teacher and I see exclusion. That everyone though they are a citizen is not included in this conversation. Who let the terroist in this country from the beginning and illegals also.

  21. You’re a teacher?

    Of what?

Friend, Bush did a hell of a lot for black people. He treated them as equals. Only idiots think Condi got her job because she was black. That’s so important. Look at how Michelle Obama acts… she wouldn’t act that way if she wasn’t trying to overcome AA stigma.

Bush also saved millions of lives in Africa… not because they were black lives, but because he wanted to help people. Race is a silly thing.

And as I said in a prior thread, if you’re black, you’re almost certainly directly related to slave masters. I’m not. Why is this about who is related to who? Awful things happened in America’s past, but it’s the past. You don’t have to be a victim.

    Juan (bd4b30)

  22. Juan, I believe Sharon was saying that this administration is worse.

I think. She’s rather hard to follow.

  23. Any questions as to what is wrong with our education system?

    JD (8d3f8f)

  24. I heard on the radio tonight, whoever was subbing for Mark Levin, that one Dem Congressperson wanted to have people present picture ID’s before attending his Townhall to prove they lived in his district. I didn’t catch the Congressperson’s name. The great thing was that the Representative does not support voter ID.

So you need ID to attend his Townhall, but not to vote. PERFECT!

    daleyrocks (718861)

  25. Juan, I believe Sharon was saying that this administration is worse.

Really? Well dang… another person on here I’ve pissed off.

  26. Really? Well dang… another person on here I’ve pissed off.

Stick with your strengths, I always say… 😀

    Scott Jacobs (d027b8)

  27. That Congressman is Eugene Green from Texas:

“Unfortunately, due to a coordinated effort to disrupt our town hall meetings, we will be restricting further attendance to residents of the 29th Congressional District and verifying residency by requiring photo identification.”

    daleyrocks (718861)

  28. Good thing we don’t require actual voters to provide ID. Just pesky subjects who dare to question authority.

    steve miller (c5e78c)

  29. I think Specter deported himself well. He walked into the kitchen and took the heat. The mealy-mouthed, hypocritical, little bastard spawn of a Kenyan bigamist and an underage Kansan hippie should stand up half as good.

    nk (24570c)

  30. I will give Specter props for going to another town hall.

    Scott Jacobs (d027b8)

  31. Its hard to believe thAT A CREATURE LIKE sPECTER CAN ACTUALLY WALK UPRIGHT. He has no principles. If the Dhimmies need him they’re doomed. I doubt he won’t be challenged in the dhimmie primaries.
