Spend, Spend, Spend

[Guest post by DRJ]

The federal deficit ballooned $181B in July due to falling tax receipts and increased spending.

Meanwhile, the Democrats’ spending continues as Roll Call reports the House ordered three new luxury aircraft, two of which will be used in DC. (The Wall Street Journal reports the House actually ordered eight aircraft and notes growing resistance to these expenditures in the Senate.)

This spending binge will burden future generations like a chain, chain, chain around their necks.

  1. Remember, the way to fix deficits, which used to be evil, are to spend exponentially more, while revenues continue to drop. Guess what they will recommend next …

    Racists

I am reporting this, in advance of your racism, Nazism, and disinformation, to flag@whitehouse.gov. You were warned.

  2. These aircraft are for Nancy Pelosi – she’s had a history of complaining about the existing Air Force jets she uses on the taxpayers’ dime not being good enough for her.

I like that movie a lot.

    Pfft.

Like we’ll be able to afford to buy cake…

  7. The whole Obama program is a house of cards. I really wonder if he thinks this can go on indefinitely or is he just ignorant of economics. Bill Clinton got a rude awakening from Robert Rubin when he was president. When does someone tell Obama that his plans are nonsense ?

  8. […] Those three new jets morped into eight, now they’re running scared, according to Patterico’s. […]

  9. Leviticus,

I haven’t seen that movie. Do they play Chain of Fools in it or did something else remind you of it?

  10. Loved The Commitments – some of the best blues and old soul covers…Wilson Pickett, Al Green, etc. Chain of Fools, In the Midnight Hour, Mustang Sally, all the old great standbys.

With that, Chain of Fools is very appropriate for this post.

  11. Nothing some massive inflation and currency devaluation won’t fix.

  12. Is this some clever scheme to inflate the USA’s way out of much of the debt we’ve acquired?

When does the pay rate inflate? I assume it is a very lagging indicator, and that Obama’s inflation will be the most regressive tax increase in our nation’s history.

It would be nice if the rest of the world wouldn’t lend the money to us that we’re hanging our next generation with. Kinda like how it would be nice for fools if Al Sharpton didn’t offer payday loans.

  13. “This spending binge will burden future generations …” More likely it’s going to lead to US Treasury default, and probably in the current generation. And then we will be truly f&%^ed. I wish I could see how we’re going to turn this around, but this govt has been completely out of control since Sep 2008.

  14. Somebody play back Pelosi’s and other Democrat’s criticism of Auto Company CEOs taking private jets to DC to testify and be berated by Democrat Demogogues to Pelose and Hoyer. HYPOCRITES!

  15. Actually, play “Taxman” and “Nowhere” man by the Beatles for the Democrats. Both are appropriate themes for them and their supporters.

  16. When does someone tell Obama that his plans are nonsense ?

That’s his main problem, Mike. I’ve mentioned previously that even Clinton had people in his inner circle that hailed from his earlier political life that encompassed the stature and enough mutual respect that they could tell him when he was full of sh-t. Carter never had a Carville or a Rubin, and it lead to his eventual downfall (who in their right mind would’ve approved of his inane and self – defeating “malaise” speech?). Obama has no one – Rahm could’ve filled that role, but he’s as much of a narcissist that he actually believes all of his own crapola as well. After all, he’s been the primary source of Obama’s arrogance and condescension over the past six months.

His chief of staff is also known to have sent dead fish to political opponents as a warning. Charming, no?

  19. Is there an accurate website with revenues/expenses by the Federal Gov’t over the past few decades?

I really believe that many (if not most) of the public cannot grasp the difference between a million, a billion and a trillion. Their eyes must glaze over. $181B deficit in a single month? Even the Chinese must be biting their collective (pun intended) nails.
