So Long, Suckers!

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 8:11 am

For a week or so, I’m leaving this site entirely in the capable hands of DRJ, Karl, and Jack Dunphy.

(I can hear you muttering: “And this is different from the usual situation . . . how?” OK, you’ve got a point. I’ve been very busy at work, having been assigned to a new unit and a new office.)

I may check in from time to time. Or I may not. In the meantime, keep up the thuggish ObamaCare tactics!

P.S. I got yelled at the last time I went to a Gin Blossoms concert and failed to tell people about it beforehand. So, next Sunday, August 16, Starlight Bowl in Burbank. All ages and free. We’ll be there.

  1. Taking off for a week? We don’t appreciate your thuggish swastika wearing tactics by doing so! You should be reported to that snitch e-mail address.

    JD, your turn.

Seriously Patterico, have a good break from blogging and fending off Balkons.

  3. Geez, it’s getting like Italy (or France) around here:
August rolls in and the staff departs for points unknown!

  6. Have fun. I called my daughter last evening and she told me she was in Zion. I told her I hadn’t thought she was that religious. It turned out to be Zion National Park. Vacation time for everybody who isn’t, like me, on a sort of permanent vacation.

    Have fun.

Who are you? I could swear I’ve seen you on this blog before, but I just can’t place it…

    Are you new? 🙂

  8. Scott, if you continue along this line of commentary, JD is going to be very jealous.

  11. I think we should ask Happy Feet for a contributing editor posting or two while you’re away – call it “Feets Don’t Fail Me Now” (h/t Lowell George).

  12. Thank you Dmac but I am just a commenter person for now because you get to say stuff and it gets to count as your opinion but if you make actual posts on someone’s site it gets tricky depending on what you say and I feel like being problematic in that regard lately. Our politics are so tawdry in this little country and they are just getting more and more so. And confusing.

That is, the driving force behind the town hall mobs is probably the same cultural and racial anxiety that’s behind the “birther” movement, which denies Mr. Obama’s citizenship. Senator Dick Durbin has suggested that the birthers and the health care protesters are one and the same; we don’t know how many of the protesters are birthers, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it’s a substantial fraction.

That’s Paul Krugman who won a Nobel prize thingy. It’s from his latest column. Is he a big fat liar or has he just been reading Hot Air too much?

    Cultural anxiety.

Krugman is right about cultural anxiety and I’m so over it and especially I’m over being spoonfed cultural anxiety from the right just for so people can generate blog comments.

Before I would ever actually make a posting, especially on someone else’s site, I would think very very carefully if it was cause I had something to say.

There are too too many posts these days where the blogger person is trolling his own blog community I think. I don’t want to be that guy.

  13. Patterico, aren’t you supposed to run a pledge drive before you go on vacation?

In a week or so, he’ll do a “Hit the PayPal or I’m coming back” drive. 😉

  17. Hey Pat, was that you leaning against the stage at the Alan Jackson concert Thursday?

  18. The bad news is some regular readers and commenters may decide not to visit during Patterico’s absence. The good news is we may be able to turn off the SuperCache.

  19. “Patterico, arent you supposed to run a pledge drive before you go on vacation?”

Only if the vacation lasts several months. I don’t think being off for one week is sufficient to request thousands of dollars.

  20. I don’t think being off for one week is sufficient to request thousands of dollars.

Besides, Patterico’s smarter than that. He’d set himself up permanently by having some bought and paid for representative pass legislation that ensures him an income.

That’s how it’s done in the big leagues. The title of the post, however, would need to change to:

    “Pay up, suckers!”

    Apogee (e2dc9b)

  21. “Pay up, suckers!”

Especially since I’ve now learned that the concert is not free after all.

  23. That’s Paul Krugman who won a Nobel prize thingy. It’s from his latest column. Is he a big fat liar or has he just been reading Hot Air too much?

    People still believe Krugman?

Even Daniel Okrent, the ombudsmen of Krugman’s own NYTimes criticized him for:

“the disturbing habit of shaping, slicing and selectively citing numbers in a fashion that pleases his acolytes but leaves him open to substantive assaults.”

    He also said:

“when someone challenged Krugman on the facts, he tended to question the motivation and ignore the substance”.

That someone of Krugman’s supposed brilliance would not be able to challenge the facts but instead choose to invoke the same race card being employed by Pelosi, Olbermann and Maher says alot.
