Road Rage With a Twist

Road rage has become commonplace in the last decade but here’s something different:

“According to an arrest affidavit, 24-year-old Joshua Taylor was driving a white pickup when he cut off Amon Lewis, who was delivering food to a house at the 2800 block of Inridge Drive in South Austin. After being cut off by Taylor a second time, Lewis gave Taylor “the finger,” and then Taylor started following him, the affidavit said.

Lewis pulled into the driveway of the delivery address and Taylor parked his car there, blocking Lewis’ vehicle, the affidavit said. An argument ensued where Taylor waved a knife at Lewis, who had a hatchet to defend himself, the affidavit said.

As Lewis tried to call 911, Taylor rammed the rear of Lewis’ car with his truck, pushing it into a parked 1968 Pontiac LeMans, the affidavit said. Taylor then fled the scene, the document says.”

I guess a hatchet makes a pretty good weapon if you don’t have a gun and concealed carry permit. But I admit it reminds me of Ed Ames’ Tonight Show appearance with his classic tomahawk.

  1. I wonder if Lewis got a tip from the folks who ordered in, after they realized that he had hit their car…

  3. Man I hope the LeMans wasn’t fully restored. It would break my heart to think of a cherry vehicle like that wrecked by what is apparently just “a car.”

Sorry. I rented Gran Torino the other night and have been thinking about cars from that era ever since.

  5. I remember Ed Ames’ tomahawk episode as I happened to be watching the Tonight show that night and that throw ‘brought down the house,’ to use an old expression. I also liked the fact that Johnny referred to Ed Ames as the Indian Rabbi for a while after it happened.
