I changed the graphic. The animated version was a bit much.

redc1c4 (fb8750) — 7/4/2009 @ 11:14 ami see the buffer is acting up again today…..
i blame ‘happyfeet”, who ought to take at least one of them out of s/he/its mouth when they try to communicate.
pulling their head out of their 4th point of contact would help them also.
Happy Independence Day, America!
redc1c4 (fb8750) — 7/4/2009 @ 11:23 amIt was a server issue, red, but I think it’s fixed now. And Happy 4th to you, too! Time for barbecue.
DRJ (cdbef5) — 7/4/2009 @ 12:47 pmAmerica. Oh beautiful for spacious skies? No kidding. They canopy us where fruited plains welcomed all who braved the shores to find their freedom or even the mere possibility. And the fighting for and dying for the gracious plenty so noble, and still we are here. Could there ever be enough thanks given?
God has shed His grace here and it is something still glorious to be the very breath that is America. Land of the free, home of the brave. Indeed. Tehran, North Korea, Sudan, Cuba, China and so many other places unable to breathe in and out as freely as we. Never, ever for granted will I take this gift.
Dana (8d88ef) — 7/4/2009 @ 1:15 pmWe are also celebrating my wife’s birthday today so will miss the tea party in Mission Viejo. Unfortunately, they are doing it as an evening event. About that time we will be doing our bit for the food service industry in Laguna Beach. Sorry to miss it.
Mike K (2cf494) — 7/4/2009 @ 1:17 pmI had a “friend” on FaceBook snark that today was celebrating white slave holders who didn’t want to pay their taxes. This from a person who has been the recipient of endless government handouts.
Anyway, I cannot imagine how the political snarking of that person would work out in most other countries. Also, I would love to see that person answer a quiz about the history of any other nation, let alone this one.
But that is the way we have educated people today.
Sure, there are many things wrong with our nation, which is a work in progress. And Left and Right can disagree on what those defects are, and what to do about them. But we should all agree that we are quite lucky to live here.
At least for one day a year. Today.
Happy 4th of July!
Eric Blair (acade1) — 7/4/2009 @ 1:39 pmChet Atkins palying “Stars and Stripes Forever” on the guitar. Safe for work, in America at least, for the time being. 😉

Gazzer’s Gabfest » Independence Daze (b98ad6) — 7/4/2009 @ 6:15 pmBest wishes to DRJ, Patterico and all the posters, left, center, right and hard right on this Independence Day. A safe and fun-filled Fourth to you all.
DCSCA (9d1bb3) — 7/4/2009 @ 6:48 pmBetter Half and my 2 angels just got done talking a walk down the beach. It looked like there were fireworks going off all the way from Destin to Ft. Walton Beach. But for the troll infestation, this was a most excellent day.
JD (224d7d) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:42 pmFireworks on a beautiful beach with your family. It doesn’t get any better than that.
DRJ (cdbef5) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:44 pmJD – I think your two little angels gave me a couple of wake up calls this morning. Might want to check who else they called. Heh!
Just sayin’.
Happy 4!
daleyrocks (718861) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:46 pmYes, DRJ … Add a few dozen oysters, and some fresh crab claws cooked on the beach …
I am a fortunate man.
JD (224d7d) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:47 pmI must have butt-dialed. Sorry daley …
JD (224d7d) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:49 pmJD – No problems. It sounded like girls whispering is all I’m saying. I coulda been talking to your butt. Nobody was talking back.
daleyrocks (718861) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:53 pmMy daughter ate all the corn and I think I oversalted the steaks. Happy Birthday, America!
nk (218382) — 7/4/2009 @ 7:55 pmWe had corn and steak, too, nk.
DRJ (cdbef5) — 7/4/2009 @ 8:00 pmYeah, that oysters and crab claws thing is for people who are … like … from Maine or some such place.
