Patterico on Facebook?!
Many of you already know about this, but for those of you who don’t, Patterico is now on Facebook. I was reluctant to make an announcement until I had successfully registered “Patterico” as my username, which I just did. You can visit my page at http://facebook.com/patterico.
I am happy to add any recognized reader as a friend, but I want you to send something along with your friend request that proves to me that you are who you claim to be. Be creative. I have access to all your comments, so the best way is to provide me with the secret e-mail address that you use to comment.
I am also on Twitter at http://twitter.com/patterico. Follow me there! It’s social media MADNESS!
Facebook is becoming the default social network. Twitter is a good backup.

Patterico (cc3b34) — 6/28/2009 @ 9:12 pmFacebook tells me that It is the way to your heart. That I need to join It to become your friend.

EricPWJohnson (a7d970) — 6/28/2009 @ 9:35 pmHeh. I knew you and Scott Jacobs when!
Check out Patterico’s friend list. It reads like a Who’s Who of big-time conservative bloggers.

Instant brain connection via implants. Unfortunately, it’ll be a requirement by the Obamacon and you’ll get a “number” for it. 🙂
GM Roper (85dcd7) — 6/29/2009 @ 6:39 amGood for you in joining Facebook, but I’m still an agnostic when it comes to most of this stuff -too many people are using them to just waste more time when they could be sending along e – mails in a much more efficient manner. Just one more layer of nonsense as an impediment to most normal communications, it would appear (but I’ve been on Linked In for awhile now).
Dmac (f7884d) — 6/29/2009 @ 8:03 amI added you as a friend. 🙂
h2u (81b7bd) — 6/29/2009 @ 8:16 am“Join us!”, they hissed…
mojo (8096f2) — 6/29/2009 @ 8:34 amI find Facebook kind of distracting. All those applications and games and thingies…don’t have time. Twitter is more “just the facts, ma’m”!
Patricia (2183bb) — 6/29/2009 @ 8:37 amPatterico, you have to watch the number of “friends” you get. There is a limit of, what, 1,000? Maybe 2,000.
Anyway, the students I know have an expression for people with hundreds and hundreds of friends. “Facebook courtesans” but they don’t use that latter word.
I don’t know that that is fair. But if you are going to have a lot of FB friends, I would urge you to work on the filters so you don’t get hundreds of e-mails a day announcing everyone’s status.
What a brave new world we live in….
Eric Blair (acade1) — 6/29/2009 @ 8:49 amNo dipwhiddle computer program gonna tell me who my friends can be.
nk (bef3ab) — 6/29/2009 @ 8:53 amNext you’ll find yourself in an LA courtroom being prosecuted (by Mr. Frey) for renewing your LA Times subscription—a 2-5 year stretch in the pen offense.

Rovin (363536) — 6/29/2009 @ 9:30 amThank you kindly, but I am trying to eliminate distractions from my life, not add them. I find it difficult to imagine that people want more of them. Sorry.
htom (412a17) — 6/29/2009 @ 9:39 amI friended you, Patterico. I admit Facebook is a distraction, but it’s nice to keep in touch with family who are far away. We can type little notes to each other, carry on a “conversation”. I’ve enjoyed that. Also caught up with a few high school friends who are also conservative, and we talk politics on Facebook. It’s been fun, so far.
fiestamom (cf47bb) — 6/29/2009 @ 4:28 pmI will be befriending you soon. Look for my bearded visage. Facebook has become useful over time…
Izzy (99a05f) — 6/29/2009 @ 5:09 pmStill awaiting friend confirmation. So sad!
h2u (147639) — 6/30/2009 @ 7:47 amInterestingly, I found this cartoon on FaceBook…
