Barack Obama, Defender of the Faith

Filed under: Obama — DRJ @ 1:47 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Thursday Beldar noticed Barack Obama’s promise to defend the Muslim faith from its detractors. A day later, Jonah Goldberg commented on Obama’s new job description:

“In addition to CEO of GM, Thwarter of Rising Ocean Tides, and countless other duties not found in the Constitution or tradition, Obama has decided to add Defender of the Muslim Faith to his job description.”

Like this Episcopal minister, Obama doesn’t seem to see much difference between Christianity and Islam, let alone church and state. He’s counting on the American people not to notice the ambiguity.

  1. i’m trying to figure out just how i can adequately express my contempt and disdain for Ear Leader, mohammed the child molester and false prophet and allah, the holy boulder in the desert, without insulting my host’s hospitality…..

i guess y’all will just have to imagine a multipart stream of army language, garden variety invective and cutting insults and observations, followed by a rousing dismissal.

now you’ll have to excuse me, but i’m gonna go have a BLT & a beer for lunch, then watch bikini clad women cavort in my pool, none of who i am married or related to. there will be more booze involved.

  3. There are many paths to God. Holding faith in your heart, not wearing it on your sleeve, is what is important. Americans should remember communists do not believe in God. Theses days the Reds worship the greenback instead. We may have more to fear from the Chinese communists who hold much of America’s debt than from those who worship God peacefully through Islam.

  4. I think that perhaps even the Muslims are doubul about his defense,

[At an Bahdad barbershop] between the snipping of his whiskers, Dabagh wondered: “Why did Obama leave Islam. I think he hates Islam.”

  5. DRJ, you recently hyped “Dealergate.”

Today, the alleged scandal was debunked by Factcheck.org

  6. Remember all those speeches where GWB attacked “Islam”?

    Yeah, me neither.

    Techie (482700)

  7. Thank you for the link, Andrew. Like Ben Domenech, I think Factcheck.org is generally reliable but it’s not infallible. As for Dealergate, one of my points was that more investigations should be done. I still think that.

  8. Islam is the weakest weakest most pitiful religion ever I think if it needs some douchebag like Barack Obama to protect it so it doesn’t get picked on. They should have some self respect and tell him no thanks loser we’re good.

  9. Imagine if Bush had said anything remotely similar regarding his faith; this really is an Alice – in – Wonderland world we’re living in these days.

    Dmac (f7884d)

  10. Is this the same Ben Domenech quoted here by the Washington Post?

A 24-year-old blogger for The Washington Post, Ben Domenech, resigned yesterday after being confronted with evidence that he had plagiarized articles in other publications.

    Andrew (39a8a6)

  11. And how much of those oil $$$ billions we send to the Arabs ends up financing terrorism? How much goes to improve the daily lives of their citizens? Why does Dopey O ask the Muslims why churches and synagogues are verboten in Saudi Arabia and allowed to grow here along with radical imams spewing venom against the US? That’s ok, because most of the Jooos I know still think O is a studly God and long to have sex with him too. I talked to one lady today and got the “any problems O has are inherited from Bushhitler”. She watched some Mikey Moore/Goebbels tripe and was angered by all of W’s malfeasance and treason. How do you argue with libs who deeply buy into that Fat Turd’s propaganda?

    aoibhneas (55634c)

  12. Andrew,

I think so. Does that alter the points Domenech made in the link? More important, how does that undermine my point that the Chrysler dealer decisions are worth looking into?

    DRJ (180b67)

  13. I like Ben Domenech. He is smart and nice.

    happyfeet (2d133f)

  14. He should have just said a “friend” e-mailed him material.

Seems to work fine for others.

    Techie (482700)

  15. Well, Obama is certainly going to have to rethink his DOJ policies concerning Muslims.

  17. There will be no peace until Islam is reformed, defeats us or is defeated.

Would someone please tell this poseur that our First Amendment Rights -and our right to defend ourselves – takes priority over his wish to defend his faith from necessary criticism.

The negative sterotypes are based on facts.

  18. If I had aspirations to become President of the United States as the Republican candidate, I would call a press conference immediately and declare myself “Defender of the Christian Faith”.

The Democrats and their media wouldn’t be able to say a damn thing about it and clear battlelines would be drawn.

    jcurtis (a25ba2)

  19. Owebama basically told muslims in his Cairo speech to listen to his god-like interpretation of their religion rather than what their imams tell them. Owebama,PBUH, will tell them about true Islam, the religion of peace, while what is being taught and preached by their imams, the extremism, hate and misogyny, is false Islam. This is what true gods, and celebrities do.

    Heh!

    daleyrocks (5d22c0)

  20. Actually daley, it’s worse than Obama contradicting imams.

He thinks he can get Muslims to discern the true meaning of their religion based upon what he says about it rather than based upon the words and deeds of its founder, the so-called prophet Mohammed.

And since, according to Muslims, the words of Mohammed came directly to him from Allah, through the angel Gabriel, Obama thinks he can explain Islam better than god.

Obama: a man who thinks he can change 1400 years of Muslim history with an opinion of Islam that contradicts the words of Allah.

This gives new meaning to the words arrogance and narcissism.

    Terry Gain (6b2a64)

  21. You can always count on Andrew to attempt to deflect. Actually, Andrew, the idea that the information should be released cannot be debunked. Were they to release their criteria, there would be no story left.

As others have noted, had Bush said it was his job to defend Christianity, the Leftist heads should still be assploding.

    JD (aff952)

  22. Obama doesn’t seem to see much difference between Christianity and Islam, let alone church and state.

That’s hardly surprising since he sat for years and listened to Jeremiah Wright spew forth from the pulpit his various radical diatribes and apparently thought that was a perfectly fine off-shoot of Christianity.

However, to be fair, even our previous president could be vulnerable to a misguided (or a politically correct) understanding of religion on occasion, since George Bush right after 9-11 did say Islam was a religion of peace.

When I read things like the following, I begin to see why facets of Islamism have a peculiar appeal to some of the disaffected urban dwellers throughout the Western world, or segments of leftist modern society in general (eg, the otherwise pro-secular culture of Hollywood, or the no-holds-barred culture of the rap artist), who tend to align themselves with politicians like the guy now in the White House.

    fishhouseministries.com:

Many Islamic historians admit that Muhammad married eleven wives. Those who think his escapades with women a measure of his greatness, admit that he had as many as twenty seven. In addition to these wives, Muhammad was also commanded by Allah to keep as many concubines
(female captives in Jihad) as his right hand possessed. Pondering the Koranic text that granted these special privileges to Muhammad, one cannot resist the temptation to believe that Muhammad wanted the unrestricted freedom to have as many women as he wished, and used his “revelations” to prevent his wives and followers from placing any limitations on his carnal cravings. …Muhammad’s passion for women seemed to know no bounds. He even took the only wife of his adopted son, Zaid.

A general misunderstanding of the Islamic world by western nations is causing serious international tensions. Whenever the Islamic faithful carry out their religious duties, they are tagged as terrorists. Americans are so obsessed with the term “terrorist” that their government has blacklisted a number of Islamic countries: Libya, Iran and Syria.

When Islamic suicide bombers, May 15 group, Abu Nidal, Hamas, Islamic brotherhood, Mujahadin, Hisbollah, etc. carry out their religious obligation against Israeli civilians, those who are ignorant of the elementary principles of Islam call them all sorts of names. Those who know nothing about Muhammad’s writings are baffled when they hear that the above mentioned groups have guerillas, assassins, kidnappers and weapon experts all over the world, including within the United States itself.

Why should a seemingly sane people choose violence, anarchy, war and murder as a way of life, and even anticipate more of the same in Aljana? Part of the answer lies in the way and manner that Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, treated his opponents. During his lifetime, Muhammad sent assassin after assassin (today we call them “death squads”) to eliminate his opponents. He rained curses upon the ones his
    assassins couldn’t track down.

Great non-sequitur, Andrew. Care to address the idiocy addressed by this particular post, or are you tacitly acknowledging that no defense is possible?

  24. I think that President Obama has embarked upon a wise course of action that is long overdue. The notion that Israel must be allowed to get away with everything must be dispelled in no uncertain terms. Israel has proven to be a very troublesome “ally.” With friends like Israel, who needs enemies? The free ride is over. Either the Israelis honor their agreements, or they no longer enjoy our friendship. It is that simple. they contribute nothing to the USA, while costing us dearly on all fronts. The Saudis are mnore than able to serve as the patrons of those in the Muslim world who need financing for infrastructure, education, jobs, and development. It is reasonable that President Obama should include them in America’s blueprint for peace in the region, and acknowledge them as indispensable partners in tha peace. Iran… in all likelihood, already has nuclear weapons in the most basic designs, and has probably possessed such models for years, either built or purchased on the open market. Only a foll would beleive that the 600 Soviet nuclear scientists that went to work in Iran after the demise of the demise of the Soviet Union, could not build a single bomb over the past 20 years. So it is natural that the conversation or rhetoric should shift from prevention to containment. In this climate, the arrogance of Israel cannot be tolerated. Israel should be monitored by the US, and if an attack on Iran is detected, the US should punish Israel with strategic air strikes against its offensive capabilities. This seems to be the only way Israel can be held in check, while the real work of establishing the peace moves forward. If Israel is allowed to bomb Iran, then we deserve whatever happens in the aftermath. Israel cannot win without US support, aid, and funding. They have yet to demonstrate that they can honor agreements and be good neighbors. Let us not forget their history. There is a reason why every nation where they have lived over the past 5,000 years or so has run them out… and it isn’t because they are God’s chosen people.

Gilbert – Have the Palestinians lived up to the terms of any agreement so far? Please show your work.

    The “Jooooooos,” of course.

And FTR, Gilbert West’s anti-Semitism aside, I think it IS because they are God’s chosen people. Those whom God chooses always, and I mean always, seem to get treated like dirt, in this world that is.
