Pelosi: Nothing More to Say

Filed under: General — DRJ @ 3:50 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Saying “I stand by my comment,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that she won’t answer any more questions regarding her knowledge about waterboarding terrorism suspects.

Factcheck.org found Pelosi issued contradictory statements, so which comment is she standing by?

  1. I guess Madame Speaker is going to stand dumb, as well as be dumb.

All things considered I suppose the strategy is to hunkder down and keep her Jimmy Choos in her mouth and wait for the storm to blow over.

  2. They say, “When you’re in a hole, stop digging.” That appears to be what she’s decided to do.

Any more comments she might make at this point can only cause her more damage.

Which is the most intelligent thing she’s said in months, if not longer.

  5. She can run, but she can’t hide – if the GOP is smart (which means usually not), they’ll tie this one around her neck for many moons from now.

  6. I stand by my comment.

Does that mean she is standing by her lie? Or standing by her comment where she lied about her lie? Or standing by her comment where she lied about lying about her lie? Or the one where … well, you get the drift …

  7. It was very kind of someone on her staff to take that damn shovel away from her.

  8. In this case, “stop digging” will solve her problem.
I knew this was going nowhere.

    Most ethical congress ever!

  10. She’s weak.

The woman who is third in line to the Presidency… arguably one of the most powerful women in the world brings a bunch of boys to answer questions for her and to protect her because she was too weak to do it herself.

If she was a guy, I’d tell her to man up, look them in the eye and answer the questions honestly.

Anyway, I got this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach realizing that Ms. Pelosi is horribly out of her depth and blaming everyone else for her own shortcomings.
    God help us all.

Her only hope is that Leon Panetta can put a lid on any CIA leaks. Then she can take her lying incompetent back to the house and go back to her job of pulling the levers on the party machine

  11. JD and I had a friendly disagreement on this whole sorry affair. I said she was toast and he said she would skate.

JD was right. Congress has already made its decision clear and the MSM will do nothing. In a month, this will be forgotten.

I said before that I thought that the CIA would not let this go because, although the rank and file are Democrats, they don’t appreciate being called liars.

Now, I’m more of the mind that party triumphs all. We shall see.

  17. She will step down gracefully in the next six months or so after the CIA has revealed to 280 Congressmen what it has in its files about them.

I am really on two minds on this.

She had the news conference today and Steny seemed to want to take her away from the podium. But, she stayed and didn’t say anything except to once again reiterate her position that the CIA lied.

She, and the leadership in the Party, know that the only way to win this game is to stonewall until everyone forgets what she said.

The wild card is the CIA. What will they do? I suspect that, under the leadership of Panetta, they will let this pass.

However, the President has to be a little irritated.

    JD:

Let me know. My previous invitation is open.

  19. However, the President has to be a little irritated.

Why would he be irritated? Anything like this just gives him a chance to act like he is above all of this petty political posturing.

    JD (a0720d)

  20. Ag80 – And I will take you up on it, so long as the invite still includes copious amounts of brisket, preferably from Rudy’s 😉

  21. JD:

You’re right. He wants everything — and I mean everything — to be about him.

First, he wouldn’t allow the press corps to cover his photo-op with the women who won the NCAA championship in basketball (I have no idea who the team was). No chance for questions, but his handlers knew that the MSM would take the footage and pretend it was news.

And then, his staff denied some poor kindergartners the chance to tour the White House because he wanted the opportunity to make the Pittsburgh Steelers submit to his authority in packaging presents for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Well, God bless him and the multi-millionaires from the NFL for supporting the troops. But why in the world couldn’t they make this a win-win for both.

Because, he couldn’t allow a few five-year-old kids to steal his day in the sun, maybe?

  22. Ag80 – It was the Uconn women’s hoops team, one of the most dominant ever. What should be most disturbing about that is how despite the media not being allowed to cover it, the White House press organ has created its own coverage of the event, complete with their own logo (like the made up seal of the President-Elect of the US). Can you imagine if President Bush created his own media brand in such a manner? Hell, the Left went batshitekrazy when Psy-ops engaged in Psy-ops. I think Teh One did not allow coverage of him with the UConn women’s team because his ego could not handle the chance that he might be showed up by a girl playing hoops. It is entirely appropriate for the Steelers and the missing link to make coverage in the same week. Coincidence? I think not.

  30. […] Moe Lane’s thoughts on whether conservatives ought to fight this nomination or wait for the next one are brief and very much to the point. Think that you can’t wait, because our coming out swinging is going to help the liberal cause with Americans? Funny: that’s what they said about Cheney throwing down on enhanced interrogation techniques. I’d suggest that people ask Nancy Pelosi how she thinks that one worked out, except that she responds to all questions like that these days by putting her fingers in her ears and shouting ‘LALALA!’.
