Government Obtains Convictions on Terrorism Charges

In separate cases, federal prosecutors in Miami and New York successfully convicted 6 defendants on terrorism-related charges, including 5 Miami men who plotted to destroy Chicago’s Sears Tower and bomb FBI offices:
“In the Miami case, Batiste, 35, was the only one convicted of all four terrorism-related conspiracy counts, including plotting to provide material support to terrorists and conspiring to wage war against the U.S. Batiste, who was on the vast majority of FBI recordings, faces up to 70 years in prison.
Batiste’s right-hand man, 29-year-old Patrick Abraham, was convicted on three counts and faces 50 years behind bars. Convicted on two counts and facing 30 years are 24-year-old Burson Augustin, 25-year-old Rotschild Augustine and 33-year-old Stanley Grant Phanor. Naudimar Herrera, 25, was cleared of all four charges.”
Tapes showed Batiste espoused violence against the government, advocated killing “the devils” and starting a jihad. Herrera, who was acquitted, apparently maintains they were community organizers:
“Herrera criticized the prosecution as “bogus” and insisted the men banded together not for terrorism but to explore ways to lift up the impoverished, drug-infested area.
“It’s not right,” Herrera said outside the courthouse. “We were really all about helping the community.”

daleyrocks (5d22c0) — 5/12/2009 @ 3:51 pmI still remember that right after the two towers were hit, I immediately went outside of my offices (on Michigan Avenue) to look at both the Sears and John Hancock buildings, in order to see if the next hit was coming there. I wasn’t the only one, there were literally thousands lining the streets, all looking up at the surrounding skies. The leftists who poo – poo these plots either have severe amnesia or are abject liars.
Dmac (1ddf7e) — 5/12/2009 @ 4:02 pmWhen those of us who are rational bring up domestic terrorism the leftists like to say we are afraid of the “boogey man.” Prior to my retirement, I was actively involved in investigations of domestic terrorists who were plotting violent acts in the USA. They were not the “boogey man. They were and are real.
To me it is stunning that groups like the ACLU and people like Barry Obama, Eric Holder, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid attempt to make the rights of terrorists more important than the safety of our fellow Americans. They are clueless and fail to understand the seriousness and scope of the problem.
Now that Obama has seen the “play book” he seems to a small extent to be getting a clue. However, pressure from the radical left and his own leftist leanings seem to be getting in the way of doing what is best for the safety of our citizens.

This must have been a neocon conviction because no ROPer would harm any hair on the head of a non muslim. Obviously the racist jury were duped into believing the trumped up charges made against these persons who were merely trying to improve their inner soul by directed exercises, much like going to a gym.
