Deport the Criminals First (but Which Criminals?)

Filed under: Deport the Criminals First — Jack Dunphy @ 7:59 am

[Guest post by Jack Dunphy]

My latest column for National Review Online is up today. I discuss the effort by some in the LAPD to skirt the state and federal laws regarding the reporting of illegal immigrants arrested for other crimes. Read it here.

  1. Not that I am a CA resident (I tried living in LA for a couple years but the crowding was too much for me), but it would sure be nice if there were a mechanism other than elections to force public officials to enforce the laws.

  2. Why are elected officials pandering to illegal aliens anyway?

    Michael Ejercito (7c44bf)

  3. Jack Dunphy,

Thank you for writing on this important topic, and kudos to you for having the courage to do so.

I think it’s clear that many local politicians and high-level police don’t want to do anything that jeopardizes their political standing. As a result, they don’t want to deport illegal immigrants (because that upsets immigrants’ rights groups), while at the same time they don’t want illegal immigrant criminals to commit more serious crimes (because that upsets law-abiding citizens).

For now, leaders such as these have chosen to let illegal immigrants go free and then express outrage when some of them go on to commit more/worse crimes. It’s a hindsight-driven policy that can never work to solve the problem, but it will remain as long as there are enough PC Americans who give leaders a pass because they don’t care about outcomes as much as they care about appearances.

    Thought they should be.

  5. How freakin’ racist can you mouth-breathin’ knuckle-draggin’ cro-magnons be? Nothing like a little xenophobia and jingoism for breakfast.

  6. It is much easier to deal with the Criminal Illegal Alien problem through Rule 7.62, than the use of the alternative strategies that have not worked in the past, do not work in the present, and will never work in the future.

Go Xenophobia! And, I like my jingoism warm, with honey.

  7. I’d be happy if they’d just deport someone, preferably JD

  8. Let’s start deporting all the Illegals working in Democrat offices. After that, we can start deporting all the illegals in MALDEF, LaRaza, Voices of the Frontier, and CAIR.

You start with the criminals who broke the law when they got here.

As to illegal alien criminals, their sentences ought to be doubled until they are over 70 before they get out. Then they won’t be robbing, raping, and killing.

  10. I wonder if the crime against the state rationale that allows the DP for major drug traffickers that are not themselves involved with murder is still good law after Kennedy. If so, perhaps we could get illegal entry to be declared such a crime against the state.

  11. JD and Ken are spot on! Attack and slander someone who offers a reasoned argument that you disagree with. I am glad to see that such a brilliant strategy is not confined to the current occupant of the White House, MSNBC, and other fellow travelers. Here’s hopin’ that JD and Kenny Boy don’t change! Keep up the moronic rants!

  12. how about we simply deport *all* the illegals?

that way the policy would be simple and easy to understand.

    Racists.

  18. I’m a lifelong concerned christian liberal and I cannot believe the filth and hate I see filling the comment section of this blog. How do you people call yourselves Americans? This is a perfect example of why the Republican party is on its last legs. JD, you should be ashamed of yourself.

  19. The 2nd Amendment is the refuge of you bitter clingers, of that there is no doubt. How does it feel to have your silly little ideology rejected by all sentient beings? I would be bitter too.

  22. Thank you, Anon. I was getting to that.

Frankly, I was still laughing at the folks that took me so seriously above.

Lonely. As I cling to my belief in the evolutionary process ordained by Gawd hisself.

(I’m pretty sure that my house cat is turning into a saber tooth tiger. Well, he’s getting a little long in the tooth, at any rate.)

    I would be bitter too.

Which would make you a bitter bower.

    Oh, I am! I am!

But don’t forget to remind the legals who called down the street raid in the firs place…they need to be told that they won’t do that kind of work …

  26. I have to admit, with the loyal opposition ramping up the vitriol, anger, and hatred recently, I can see how someone could have mistaken my comment for one offered not in jest, like the ones proffered by ASPCA, timmah, Magic Dog, and teh enlightened ones.

Nevertheless, it still made me smirk, much like Chimpy McHitlerBurton$ smirky little pony ride through history.

  28. I think it’s time this issue is decided upon. I fear for the future and integrity of this great country. This is a more serious threat than terrorism itself. And the more diverse the nation becomes, the more complicated it is. Is there ever going to be a silver_bullet solution? Don’t think so. But we need to know there are no perfect answers. I agree with Ted and McCain.

Well, pretty much because they want them to become citizens who will vote for the Democratic Party.

And then, you get the hilarity by Skippy:

JD and Ken are spot on! Attack and slander someone who offers a reasoned argument that you disagree with. I am glad to see that such a brilliant strategy is not confined to the current occupant of the White House, MSNBC, and other fellow travelers. Here’s hopin’ that JD and Kenny Boy don’t change! Yes, there is a simple solution. Close the borders and enforce the laws already on the books.

Most, but certainly not all, illegal immigrants, come to this country for a simple reason. It’s better than where they live and they are looking to make some money that they can send home to make life better for their relatives.

The United States has never taken Mexico, or Central and South America seriously. As we’ve wanted to spread the good news and good will of democracy abroad, we’ve always concentrated on Europe and Asia, when there was so much we could have done in our own hemisphere.

I can blame many administrations, both Democratic and Republican, for this ill-advised policy. As well as many corporations.

Mexico is a beautiful country with abundant resources, wonderful people and corruption to its core. As are most of the countries in Central and South America.

Is it any wonder that illegal immigrants want to live and work in a republic that offers them a chance to succeed.

Perhaps, there is a lesson there somewhere.

  32. Sorry JD, I’ll amend. I just wish they’d deport somebody.

    Ken Hahn (80a400)

  33. With all of the propositions on CA ballots, I wonder why there has never been one to make the act of committing a crime while being in CA with a serious felony in its own right with a mandatory prison term with reporting to the ICE mandatory for deportation at completion of sentence?

Hey Oinky, what’s with this slavish obsession you have towards goats? It’s becoming really worrisome.
Wait! Oh.My.God. Were you that smelly, noisy goat I had last night? Yes you are. I can tell the resemblance. What the…. Hey I want my money back. Who’s gonna pay for the goat flu you gave me, you beeech? Hey, come back here………
