Letter to Sunday Opinion Editor About that Undisclosed Conflict of Interest in an L.A. Times Op-Ed

Filed under: Dog Trainer — Patterico @ 12:50 am

I just sent this e-mail to Sue Horton, the Sunday Opinion editor at the Los Angeles Times:

Ms. Horton,

This past Sunday, the L.A. Times published an opinion piece by Merrick J. Bobb, who repeatedly praised Pasadena police chief Bernard Melekian.

Bobb’s piece did not disclose that Melekian has been a consultant for Bobb’s Police Assessment Resource Center since 1996.

I think this disclosure should have been made, so that readers could have had a full picture of Bobb’s pre-existing relationship with Chief Melekian.

Yours truly,

Patrick Frey

I’ll let you know what I hear back, if anything.

Previous post here — and thanks to L.A. Observed for the link.

  1. Do you really expect Sue Horton or any editor at the LASlimes to be honest?????

Pat, if you do, I have the Field of Dreams for sale, cheap!

  2. I think it’s good to keep on documenting the LAT’s screwups. Patterico has amassed years of information on the LAT’s leftist bias and sloppiness. The evidence is so enormous that leftists have no real rebuttal.

Leftists from time to time claim that the LAT has a conservative bias, but none has put in even a fraction of Patterico’s work in attempting to back up their claim. Fair-minded people can tell the difference.

  3. Brother Bradley, Leftists are not fair minded.

Before they can be “fair minded”, they have to be “minded”.
