Netanyahu to be Israel’s next Prime Minister

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:47 am

Netanyahu will be Israel’s next Prime Minister. (Thanks to Pablo.)

Since we apparently no longer really care whether Iran gets the bomb, it’s nice to see someone in a position of power who will.

  1. I’m glad he is in charge now.
I remember during Gulf 1 when CNN was interviewing him as the Scud alarms went off. He continued the interview while donning his gas mask. Gave me a real chill. That’s not meant as a criticism of him – just a feeling about his resolve.
Made me think that if the apocalypse ever happened the scene would be similar.
Hopefully the Iranians will take note and be very careful in what directions they go. If not they put the very existence of their own citizens at high risk.

  9. substitute sulphuric acid for the assclown’s barium o! enema. So much antisemitism on the left. I had to cut out the Irish arafish idolators from my life because they’d never stop bitching about the plight of the poor widdle refugees for life palis and the mean, hateful genocidal Jooos tormenting muslims and eating their yoots.

Someone please riddle me this? If Allah the pedophile is so freaking great and omnipotent, how does a tiny nation of 6 million or so Jews manage to frustrate the rich in oil Mideastern Muslim might? And still, the west bends over to take arab BS up the old bunghole. Libtards are hopeless. I do hope Israel at least destroys Iran nuke capability. Fact is when an arab suicide bomber meets his 72 virgins they all look like Helen Thomas and Yassir Arafat. Did that skank ever look the least presentable?

  14. Yassir’s wife never played that ‘poor guy in a keffiyeh’ routine, that’s for sure. I think it was all marketing, like when Khadaffi put tents up on the White House lawn. Look at me – I’m a man of the people!

I never thought that Netanyahu would get to be PM; it’s interesting that two of our strongest allies are moving to the right, with labour polling 20 points down to the Conservatives in Britain.

I heard Hillary! responding to questions the other day and parroting the party line — Obama’s “shaking hands with unclenched fist” BS. You could just hear how embarrassed she was to be giving such a fatuous response to a real threat to peace. She characterized North Korea’s upcoming long-range missile tests as “unhelpful.” Ya think?

Perhaps a stronger hand in Israel will cover for some of our touchy-feely diplomacy over the next few years.

    carlitos (6128f3)

  15. Carlitos, it’s a similar scenario where Thatcher told Bush not to go “all wobbly” on Iraq. Except Bush had some gonads, whereas the current occupant, who knows.

Does Netanyahu acknowledge Palestine’s right to exist?

Is a schizophrenic ever really alone? And more importantly, does a prancing ponce practice pontifications in his pantaloons?

    Dmac (49b16c)

  16. I have to say, sometimes British English is vastly superior to the American. “Ponce” is such a word. “Pimp” just takes you in a whole different direction.

    carlitos (c66133)

  17. Does Netanyahu acknowledge Palestine’s right to exist?

Of course he does. He also acknowledges its natural right to shoot rockets into Israel. He goes so far as to acknowledge their right to die when the Israeli army shoots back in a justified war of defense.

    luagha (5cbe06)

  18. If a schizophrenic hears a door knock, is anyone there ?

Netanyahu should give the Iranians pause if anyone can. If not, he is capable of pulling the trigger.

North Korea has been in a warlord stage now for several years. Nobody knows who is running things. The irony is that South Korea is in a panic at the thought that NK could collapse at any time and all the NK residents would be pouring through the DMZ on the way to SK. Sort of like our vision of Mexico collapsing.

    MIke K (f89cb3)

  19. I have no sympathy for the South Koreans, or at least the ones who constantly protested and called our troops warmongers, conveniently forgetting our sacrifices for their sorry arses during the Korean War. Their “Sunshine Policy” was a complete liberal fantasy, replete with calls for our immediate withdrawal, all the better to mollify the nutbags in charge of NK. I wished we had called their bluff – time for them to defend themselves after relying on us for over a half century; buh – byeee.

    Dmac (49b16c)

  20. Netanyahu should give the Iranians pause if anyone can.

Yep – this is best thing that could have happened to the ME, and you better believe that the other Gulf states are breathing sighs of relief. Not that they’ll ever admit to it, though.

Bebe’s brother BTW was one of the commandos who died in rescuing the passengers of the jet hijacked by Muslim radicals and their Baader-Meinhof helpers at Entebbe.

    Patricia (89cb84)

  24. Well, it ought to be remembered that Mr netanyahu has already served as Prime Minister once before, and his tenure was not exactly an unqualified success. He did have negotiations with Yassir Arafat, and agreed to the Wye River Accords, even though the Palestinians had not carried out all of their obligations under the Oslo Accords. He was defeated in elections after three years as PM.

I like Mr Netanyahu’s foreign policy, but his domestic policies did not really gather him much support internally.

Anti-Jew Hatred = bad. truly awful. right up there with satanism.

Anti-Muslim Hatred = good, clean, mainstream opinion.

It’s pretty funny that you would believe you’re limiting yourself to original logic — even funnier that you would think of evidence as original.

  34. As for Netanyahu, I’m taking a wait and see approach.

I haven’t followed the election closely enough to form an opinion on how much political capital he has to work with. I will get back to you, though, JD, since you wanted to know.

    Hax Vobiscum (edacf7)

  35. That’s rich, Hackie not having formed an opinion.
Since when has that ever stopped him from just pulling one out of his arse?

  36. #23 Patricia:

Bebe’s brother BTW was one of the commandos

He was actually the mission commander (and originator), and the only Israeli casualty.

JD & SPQR: Eric nailed it at the tail of the Palestinian children’s TV thread~performance art. It’s just looking for an audience. All the more telling that it mistakes criticism of Islam with hatred of Muslims: Islam is a tyranny that Muslims need be free of, yet it quite happily supports the tyranny and attendant degradation of human rights that are endemic in the practice of sharia.

    EW1(SG) (e27928)

  37. Patterico:

Is it OK to say hateful things about Muslims on your blog?

And by that I mean expressions of antipathy toward the people as a group, rather than toward individuals within the group.

I think it’s safe to assume that you don’t think its OK to express antipathy toward Jews, as a group, so I’m wondering if you are willing to keep a single standard.

Would be interesting to see how this is answered at liberal blogs as well and compare it to the responses at conservative counterparts.

  39. I can’t remember how many times when I’ve said “the Bible says (insert Bible passage here)” only to get a response like “who are you to judge me?” I can’t remember how many times I’ve taken a moral stand against certain activities and been called a H8ER.

Anyone who quotes the Quran as evidence Mohammedanism is a large part of the problem with Mohammedanism is called a h8er. But any time the media attacks Christians as Bible thumpers, backwoods ignorant types, radicals, dangerous people, the media is praised for their “insightfulness.”

And how many ’50s thrillers were remade where the insane killer had heavy roots in Hollywierd’s view of Christianity? No hate there. And that crucifix in a bucket of urine? NEA-funded “art.” Mapplethorpe? Art. No hate there. Just insightful, aesthetically enlightening art.

I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard about those evil Jews who own all the banks and own all the businesses and are destroying everyone. Those evil Jews would never treat anyone fairly; they are the most selfish people in the world. We would all be better off if we didn’t have those evil Jews owning us. Blah, blah, blah.

But tie a group of people to their most sacred scriptures, so long as they are not the evil Jews or ignorant Christians, and you become a h8er. The complete logic disconnect is overwhelmingly evident.

It’s a shame propaganda recyclers who never had an original thought (read Hax) can’t see the obvious.

It’s pretty funny that you would believe you’re limiting yourself to original logic — even funnier that you would think of evidence as original.

Even more hilarious is that you cannot even spell the word correctly, let alone define it. You’re kind of big old Fop, aren’t you, Poncey Boy? Show us those pantaloons!

Good to see you around today, Dmac!

    Eric Blair (ec334b)

  45. Gren Gleenwald has been noticeably over the top recently regarding U.S. policy toward Israel. He is looking forward to the Obama Administration applying serious pressure to force the Israeli’s to make big concessions to the Palestinians in an effort to achieve peace. He doesn’t think the U.S. needs to blindly support Israel the way it has in the past.

It’s sort of like Gren ignores how concessions have worked out for Israel in the past and why he thinks this time will be different. Critics of U.S./Israel policy don’t usually have very good answers for those questions other than to fall back on vague platitudes about fairness.

Yes, as steve miller points out~ it’s only here for the attention.

    EW1(SG) (e27928)

  48. There is a saying: The mohammedanists can lose every war but one and they will win; the Israelis have to win every war or they will be dead.

Any time the Israelis lose a war, Israel will cease to exist and all Jews in the region will be dead Jews. According to the Bible, that will never happen, but it will come close.

Remember, of all ME countries, only Egypt has declared the war over. All other ME countries have had treaties that stopped the violence but have not ended the formal declaration of war with Israel. This is a terrible fact Hax will always choke upon while espousing his anti-semite agenda.

The first war Israel loses will be the last day Israel exists.

Fornication under consent of the King Hax and every history-rejecting liar like him.

Sadly ironic that the mission was his brainchild, and executed almost flawlessly.

Hasn’t the troll told you about the terrorist beheadings by hordes of fanatical Jesuseen? They’re trained at Bob Jones University to kill anyone who blasphemes Christ. And what about that papal fatwa against Andres Serrano?

Fundies are violent, this I know
Our resident troll tells us so.

  51. Mt Vobiscum asked our very tolerant host:

Is it OK to say hateful things about Muslims on your blog?

And by that I mean expressions of antipathy toward the people as a group, rather than toward individuals within the group.

I think it’s safe to assume that you don’t think its OK to express antipathy toward Jews, as a group, so I’m wondering if you are willing to keep a single standard.

Would be interesting to see how this is answered at liberal blogs as well and compare it to the responses at conservative counterparts.

It’s pretty obvious that our host uses his prerogative to edit, censor or delete comments very infrequently; most of the time, someone who posted something openly anti-Semitic would get his comment mocked to death before Patterico ever got a chance to deal with it otherwise.

But, in your attempt to draw a moral equivalence, you have missed the fact that the two situations are not similar. Despite those who see AIPAC as having controlled the Bush Administration and a Jew neo-conservative under every bed, the Israelis specifically and Jews in general have not been flying jetliners into buildings, nor providing material support and comfort for those who do.

The same cannot be said about our friends in the Muslim world. The vast majority are not terrorists, but the Muslims in the Middle East provide the cover and support the terrorists need. Good Americans recoil with horror at the civilians who get killed when the Israelis go after Hamas guerrillas in Gaza, but that happens because the Hamas guerrillas are hiding amongst the civilian population — and that civilian population provides Hamas with logistical support and hiding places.

  52. Feeding trolls results in comment threads so long I don’t read them. It is a free country but it seems to me that there are more productive ways to spend your time. Like playing video games.

We already knows the wicked Joooos are behind all the bad things that happen. Why do we have to be told that over and over ?

    Mike K (90939b)

  53. Dr. Capt. Mike K.,

While I don’t play video games, I have been productively installing Ubuntu on my computers and upgrading them. I just got a 500GB SATA drive to work with a SATA-IDE converter.

After upgrading my computers, I hop over here to test the connection. Sometimes I’ll chuckle at the troll’s latest idiocy. There’s no sense in debating it, but watching it get thrashed has a certain amusement value.

Hmmmm. Is there a video game about trolls? The blog kind, that is?

    Bradley J. Fikes, C.O.R. (0ea407)

  54. You know John, I’ve disagreed with you about the Bible before, but I can’t deny that it’s very strange reading about Israel in the bible and then watching current events.
