Plane Crash
Bad plane crash in upstate New York.
Forty-nine people died when a Continental Express airplane crashed into a house in Clarence Center shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, setting off a huge fire that could be seen miles away.
The dead included 44 passengers, four crew members and a person on the ground.
Not good.
Unfortuantely they don’t all end like the US Airways Crash. My prayers and sympathy to the relatives and friends of those lost.

Dr. K (24b8da) — 2/13/2009 @ 2:13 amOh yeah, and Pat, not wanting to be a smartass, but when is a plane crash ever good? The best outcome is minimal loss of life. But it still sucks.
Dr. K (24b8da) — 2/13/2009 @ 2:15 amAs a cautious former aviator, I should point out that aircraft accidents come in threes. Sully was 1, this is 2, and I’m staying on the ground until we see the 3rd mishap.

J. Raymond Wright (d83ab3) — 2/13/2009 @ 7:09 amThis is why Sully is such a hero. Sometimes evil helps us appreciate miracles. What a tragedy. My prayers go to the victims’ families. May God console and keep them in this moment of grief.

Obama über alles!!!!! (48dd5e) — 2/13/2009 @ 7:28 amCommuter flights have the least experienced pilots but are good learning situations for the young pilots. Unfortunately, some lessons are fatal. I don’t like flying in the northeast in winter or Dallas in August. We don’t know the cause but it was apparently sudden. It must have been terrifying for the passengers but at least it was quick.
Mike K (2cf494) — 2/13/2009 @ 7:39 amAircraft was a de Havilland Canada DHC-8, which is a turboprop. The cause will probably turn out to be icing.
Douglas2 (62fec6) — 2/13/2009 @ 8:52 amNow this recent news is really disturbing – one of the 9/11 widows was on the flight:

Life is a cruel taskmaster, and no one ever claimed it to be fair, or easy.

Number three: British Airways just crash landed an Aero 146 in London. Four people hurt, but no fatalities. It’s safe to fly again.
