Blago Impeached
The vote: 59-0.
As required under state law, the lieutenant governor, Pat Quinn, assumed chief executive power upon the vote. To rancorous cheers, he took the oath of office for ceremonial purposes about an hour after the impeachment and gave a short speech that struck an upbeat tone.
“If all of us are cheerful, earnest, frank and honest,” Mr. Quinn said, “We can achieve great things for the land of Lincoln.”
Honest? Will this be measured on a sliding scale?
UPDATE: Scott Jacobs had this earlier.

*cough*

Please change the headline.
Blago was impeached by the House.
Today, he was convicted by the Illinois Senate.

rancorous cheers?
Perhaps raucous.Good thing the NYT has layers of fact-checkers and editors.

It’s too bad this got done so quickly. I was hoping it would stretch out a little bit more and spotlight the idiocy of the Illinois Dems and the corruption of Illinois politics in general.

daley, I’m guessing that there’s going to be a book that does that.

They’ll celebrate with a tax increase.

Eh…
Frankly, the Ryan affair came and went pretty easy, and the dems totally call this one their Ryan…
So I can sit back and call it a win for the state. With this, maybe a 3rd party can get in the Big House…

“daley, I’m guessing that there’s going to be a book that does that.”
Pablo – If Kass from the Tribune writes it I’ll buy it.

Only if all of you get impeached. Illinois has needed an enema for a long time, and Blago’s just the first who should go down the tubes.
Sorry about the vivid metaphor, but the shoe fits, and they gotta wear it.

Does this mean we won’t have Citizen Blogo to kick around anymore?

daley, I’m thinking Blago. His knowledge of where the bodies are buried is the only valuable fucking thing he has left to trade on.
Comment by Pablo — 1/30/2009 @ 9:14 am
I am innocent! Don’t believe the evidence. The Fix is in! The fix is in! The fix is in! The fix is in! The fix is in!!!

There was a story about the governor that his aides had to carry a special hair brush and have it available at all times–he threw a tantrum one day because his special brush wasn’t at hand before he met the public. I’m wondering if he was able to take his special brush with him–maybe he could auction if off to build his legal defense fund; or maybe he can take it to prison with him where he’ll have plenty of time for grooming.

Blago was Obama’s pick. Obama backed this man. Now Blago’s family is in pain.
Obama lied. People died.

OT: If Republicans used FEAR to get us into Iraq then is it possible the Democrats are using fear to get this Stimulus Bill passed and start building the Messiah’s road to Socialist Heaven.
Juss a thought.
