Obama’s Attorney General

Filed under: Obama — DRJ @ 1:44 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Polls show most Americans like the way Barack Obama is handling his transition with the main concerns being Obama’s appointments: The withdrawn nomination of Bill Richardson at Commerce, the tax scandals of Treasury Secretary-designate Geithner, the impact of foreign donations to Bill Clinton’s Presidential Library on Hillary’s State Department post, and Attorney General-designate Eric Holder’s participation in Clinton’s controversial FALN and Marc Rich pardons.

There are things I like about Obama and things I don’t like, but my main concern is his vague positions on important issues. Hopefully time will alleviate my concern but I’m already happy about one thing. Last year at this time, sources close to candidate Obama were spreading the word that the Attorney General in an Obama Administration would be John Edwards:

“Illinois Democrats close to Sen. Barack Obama are quietly passing the word that John Edwards will be named attorney general in an Obama administration.

Installation at the Justice Department of multimillionaire trial lawyer Edwards would please not only the union leaders supporting him for president but organized labor in general. The unions relish the prospect of an unequivocal labor partisan as the nation’s top legal officer.”

A lot can change in a year.

  1. “.. concerns (on) Obama’s appointments…”

    Everything about Carol Browner!

  2. I think people “like” Obama’s transition because the MSM has been playing down the screwed up nominations and playing down the hypocrisy of Geitner’s tax problems etc.

  3. “.. concerns (on) Obama’s appointments…”

One world government supporter Carol Browner, slumlord Valerie Jarrett, astroturfing thug David Axelrod,…….

  4. So, the voices of dead children speaking from beyond the grave will become admissible in court?

  5. Just for the record, there will be a one-world government some day. And it’ll mark the nadir of human history, to be replaced in 7 years with the apex of human history.

I’m just not desirous of that nadir in my natural lifetime.

Preceded by 7 years of massive genocide and ethnic cleansing… I think Christians hope they get taken home before this happens.

But to the main topic, Obama’s team floating Edwards’ name out there early on makes anyone that follows look good.
I mean holy crap. John Edwards as AG?
John Edwards? I had apoplexy when I first heard that rumor.
Another piece of irony… Sarah Palin’s wardrobe was an issue, but Edwards’ suits always looked like real sharkskin to me and thats gotta be pricey.

  7. Edwards was nothing more than misdirection. Float an extreme choice as a viable candidate to make anyone else acceptable.

  8. Last year at this time, sources close to candidate Obama were spreading the word that the Attorney General in an Obama Administration would be John Edwards. . . . A lot can change in a year.

But one thing that apparently hasn’t changed in the past year is Obama’s sense of his grand destiny and worthiness of the throne. Was he really already planning his Cabinet last January? Thank God I have (or, had, I guess) mostly forgotten it.

  9. “…Sarah Palin’s wardrobe was an issue…”

but nary a peep about how much was paid, and by whom, for the Obama Inauguration Wardrobe.

    Ah, Left-Wing MSM (YES, I repeat myself), thy name is spelled H Y P O C R A S Y !

  10. You’re confused, AD. Liberals are liberal with OPM. So extravagances are not hypocritical for liberals; only for conservatives. Perceived extravagances are much less hypocritical for liberals but yet still hypocritical for conservatives.

  11. No! I’m not confused. I know very well which ones are AssHoles – All of them!

  12. JVW,

He seems to be a plan-ahead guy so I wouldn’t doubt it, but I think the rumors about John Edwards were designed to appeal to Edwards’ supporters during the primary battle in which Obama and Clinton were the front-runners.

  13. Eric Holder versus John Edwards? Lousy versus lousier? Scroungy versus scroungier? At the very least, two peas in a pod–and a very liberal pod at that.

So one of the two has put the LAPD through the grinder by making its arrest procedures beholden to neurotic politically-correct thinking gone berserk, while the other guy has chased ambulances until they’ve run out of gas.

  14. John Freaking Edwards?????
