Pellicano “Girls” to Get Reality Show

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:23 am

I told my wife and she said “You’re kidding.” Sorry . . . I’m not.

[T]he backbone of “The Pellicano Girls” will be their attempts to run a private investigation company with Anthony in jail. The producers call it a mix between “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Charlie’s Angels” — with Anthony Pellicano in the Charlie role, Kat Pellicano a modern-day Bosley and the daughters as the Angels.

“Pellicano Girls'” season one will center on their attempts to start the agency and also collect bills that are still owed the old company.

“They’re all very outgoing women, in a very precarious position,” said one insider familiar with the project. “Anthony may be incarcerated for a long time to come. But Kat’s a very resourceful woman who needs to support her children. She’s tried different things over time as the money has been running out.”

Hilarity will ensue!

I’d prefer to see a reality show about Pellicano in prison. Call it the “Pellicano Boys.” Profits to go to the victims.

Guess that’s why I’m not a network exec.

  5. I can already see a running gag, where the ‘girls’ walk in on Kat and Anthony having an “intimate” phone conversation, just as Anthony yells “Jade!” through speakerphone.

    Let the hijinx begin…

  7. Swell. In the grand tradition of G. Gordon Liddy and Oliver North, crime, it seems, pays after all. Should be a great lead in show for Sybil The Soothsayer, Vox Populi, The Mao Tse Tung Hour, Howard Beale:Mad Profit of The Airwaves and The Death Hour.

What’s next, a comedy series based in Nazi P.O.W. camp? Diss–missed!

  8. Techie: Damn you for reminding me about the human sewage featured on DTBH. Saw a bit of it once and had to drill some holes in my skull to allow an extended brain bleach-flush to remove all memories. Now it’s back, thanks to you.

  9. Oh man. Dog the bounty hunter. Employed by the New York Times’s cable channel until he spouted out some racist nonsense, right?

He’s a textbook case for why we should appreciate a well trained police force and not pursue vigilantism. If a normal person saw that monster ‘arresting’ a ‘suspect’, they would either call police or defend the ‘suspect’.

  10. I was taping another program and ended up including a part of Growing Up Gotti, about the wife and family life of the jailed Mafia kingpin. I was disgusted, not only because of the entire concept of the program, but the way Gotti’s teenage son defied, disrespected, and profanely treated his mother. Blagojevich would be proud.

  11. Liddy and North are hardly examples of the sort of sleaze that Pelicano represents. Liddy took orders from people who should have known better and made no attempt to evade his responsibility for what happened. His book is excellent and was made into a pretty good movie.

Ollie North got caught up in the criminalization of policy differences that Democrats indulged in until Bill Clinton got caught with his pants down, so to speak. North was irresponsible but, you might note if you don’t know it already, he was not convicted of anything. The principle criminal charge against North was putting in a security fence around his home.

  12. No mention of a network buyer yet, so there’s hope that this terrible idea will go nowhere. Network execs aren’t known for having great taste, but many of them have been burned enough times by bad execution to avoid a show that smells like trouble. “Docu-soap” (as this kind of concept is know in the business) is much harder to produce than reality competition shows. Merely following people around with cameras has resulted in a LOT of expensive reality flops.

  13. This is a reminder of how dirty a business TV can be. I am reminded of recorded phone calls that revealed that Hulk Hogan (real name: Terry Jean Bollea) and his family were furiously scurrying to find a way to parlay 17-year-old Nick Bollea’s car crash arrest into another reality show.

Bollea’s speeding accident permanently brain-damaged Nick’s passenger John Graziano. This did not stop Nick and his parents from speaking ill of Graziano; mother Linda suggested Graziano’s mother “didn’t give two sh*ts” about her own son, and after Nick — whining and weeping about being put in solitary confinement — said Graziano was “a very negative person,” Hulk suggested that Graziano’s debilitating injuries might have been, in a sense, karmic. Hulk then floated different ways of making a new reality show out of Nick rebuilding his life after serving his jail term. The recorded calls can be heard here.

Eventually, it was daughter Brooke Bollea that got her own show. BTW, Brooke’s friend’s affair with Hulk was the final nail in the coffin of her parents’ marriage, thus ruining their previous reality show, Hogan Knows Best.

American Gladiators had been a guilty pleasure of mine since the eighties, and I enjoyed the revival. But after listening to the phone calls and knowing how he betrayed his family, I can’t stand to look at Hulk Hogan.

Methinks Pellicano got this deal by calling in years’ worth of Hollywood debts.

  14. “They’re all very outgoing women…”

If “outgoing” means fat chicks, the show’s a flop before it hits the air. We’re into the age of Paris Hilton now: social X-rays – be skinny or be invisible. Get the message girls, if you don’t look like a 14 year old boy, it’s over for you in cafe society.

Normal girls, you know, the ones with curves and who jiggle a bit here and there just can’t compete. Wide bodies are so yesterday, hard bodies rule.

But, what do I know? Maybe the ‘dashounds vs the Pelicans in a grudge match, down in the mud, the blood, and the beer will make it to episode 2. The competition on network TV isn’t fierce.

  17. Why should they not have an opportunity to make a buck from these terrible chain of events. Kat was smart enough to DIVORCE the big bird once, and now she as a chance to support her and her kids….I say go for it! Not a question in my mind it will be much more entertaining than ‘Barfo Puke P.I.’ or ‘Da Crashdashians’…give them a chance!

  19. MikeK- You must be a kid. Sleaze is sleaze.

G.Gordon Liddy is a convicted Watergate burglar, one of Dick Nixon’s Plumbers. A felon in the Pellicano sense of the term. Pure pond scum. A true domestic terrorist before the phrase was in vogue, just as Pellicano is.

‘Irresponsible’ Ollie? Lt. Col. Oliver North was indicted on sixteen felony counts and was initially convicted of three: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and destruction of documents. One of Ronnie Reagan’s droids and star of that Reagan epic, ‘The Iran-Contra Scandal’ co-starring John Poindexter.

Both ex-cons. That qualifies them to work for Fox. So yes, Pellicano is in this sleazy league.

  20. A felon in the Pellicano sense of the term. Pure pond scum. A true domestic terrorist before the phrase was in vogue, just as Pellicano is.

    Well, sure.

If you ignore the whole “Non-Violent Felon” thing, and that he admits it, and abides by every restriction that comes with a felony conviction…

Both ex-cons. That qualifies them to work for Fox. So yes, Pellicano is in this sleazy league.

Well, sure. Who did Ollie plan to assault to keep them quiet?

    You’re cute when you’re stupid, too…

  21. DCSCA…If, you had been paying attention, or had been around more, you would have, in other postings, discovered the Mike K, is a retired physician, probably old enough to be your father, if not grandfather (sorry Mike).
You do not need, nor have the creds, to lecture him on the history of the late 20th Century.
If you truly believe what you have said about Liddy, North and Poindexter, your education has been somewhat incomplete, but that is neither here nor there. Just let it be said, that others have different opinions, and believe we can substantiate with solid facts and reasoning why we hold them.

    Another Drew (821fe5)

  22. …and No!
Oliver North, LtCol-USMC(Ret), is not a convicted felon.
Your understanding of the law is incomplete.

  23. I know the Pellicano girs and they are beautiful intelligent young ladys. I wish them every sucess in this venture and in the future. I dont condone what Anthony did but his consecutive State and Federal sentences for wire tapping hollywood celebreties seems harsh to me. I hope he is released soon and allowed to get on with his life.

    Michael Hunt (17db21)

  24. =yawn= Another Drew– facts are stubborn things. And especially solid when true.

FACT: Lt. Col. Oliver North was indicted on sixteen felony counts and was initially convicted of three: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and destruction of documents-(ask Fawn Hall for details.)

FACT: Nixon White House Plummer G.Gordon Liddy is a convicted felon and the infamous mastermind of the Watergate burglary. He was found guilty of conspiracy, burglary and illegal wiretapping; received a 20-year sentence and fined. President Carter (imagine that) commuted Liddy’s sentence to 8 years out of fairness to keep his sentence in line with those of all the others Republican hacks convicted in Watergate related prosecutions. Liddy even stole his well storied ‘hand in the candle flame the trick is not minding’ gimmick from the 1962 film, ‘Lawrence of Arabia.’ It’s in reel 1.

FACT: Both Liddy and North contibute to Fox. Apologists for conservative criminals seeking to rewrite history always blame higher ups, circumstances, quip they were just following orders or that the ends justify the means.

FACT: Liddy, North and Pellicano- convicted of criminals acts. Sleaze is sleaze.

And here’s a free one for you-

    FACT: 1+1=2, not 11.

  26. MikeK-

    You might note to yourself:

Lt. Col. Oliver North was indicted on 16 felony counts and was initially convicted of 3: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding & abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, @ destruction of documents.

Facts are subborn things, pants up or down.

    DCSCA (d8da01)

  27. DSSCA,

Why do you keep saying Ollie was initially convicted? Is that because, after all was said and done, he was exonerated?

Hmm. Imagine that. You know he wasn’t convicted (the initial convictions are obviously void and do not legally exist in the past… they simply aren’t real).

And he was charged with what? Putting a security fence up around his family? And the courts didn’t find that unjustified? Because terrorists wanted to kill him?

Well… I’m pretty sure he’s not perfect by any stretch, but he’s no convicted felon either.

G Gordon Liddy deserves your scorn. He has paid his debt, but his crimes were outrageous, and my understand of his comments about the ATF are also pretty outrageous. I don’t mind ranking Pellicano with Liddy.

but Ollie North didn’t do anything wrong. He was a soldier in the cold war, ordered to do terribly comprimised things to protect the nation.

    Juan (4cdfb7)

  28. Juan- ‘Ollie North didn’t do anything wrong’???? =sigh=
North did plenty of things more than wrong: they were criminal and was convicted. Your rationale? The ends justify the means. Scroll up. You’ve proved my point.

To keep repeating the facts is pointless if you believe that 1+1=11.

  32. Are the Pellicano Girls anything like the Gastineau Girls?

Old Coot @ #30 – That was one of the most racist and stupid-ist things I have ever read. Consider yourself denounced. Denounce, and condemened.

  33. I think its amusing that DCSCA likes to list “facts” but then goes right ahead and omits the key one on Col. North.

  39. No, DCSCA. You are proof of the existence of trolls.

    JD (6a82b7)

  40. #39- A personal attack says you’re down to shootin’ blanks, pal. Trolls are a myth. Liddy’s conviction, Pellicano’s conviction and North’s conviction are facts.

    Lesson #1 for conservatives: 1+1=2, not 11.

    DCSCA (d8da01)

  41. No, DCSCA, you forgot that his convictions were vacated by the appellate court, and on remand to the trial court the independant counsel moved for dismissal.

So we see just how much you like to list all facts … that is, you don’t.

  42. #41- SPQR ROFLMAOPIP. And bells can be unrung, even with the help of the ACLU. Nixon was ‘pardoned’ so he is, ‘not a crook.’

    Facts.

  43. DCSCA, I guess facts are stubborn things, but not as stubborn as people like you who pretend to use them … but don’t actually.

    Lesson #2 for conservatives: 2+2=4, not 22.

    DCSCA (d8da01)

  45. DCSCA, actually no. North’s conviction was vacated. The legal effect of the appellate court’s action is that it did not happen. Facts are stubborn things according to you, but you seem to not have any real command of them.

    SPQR (72771e)

  46. Oh, and DCSCA, perhaps you need to buy yourself a shirt to improve your math skills.

  48. Yup. Wore that very shirt to my CMPSC final yesterday… My Math teachers always got a chuckle out of it too…

    Scott Jacobs (a1c284)

  49. SPQR-

    FACTS:
    North was convicted.
    Liddy was convicted.
    Pellicano was convicted.

Wake up to reality. (Apologies to Frank.) Nixon was pardoned, yet ever the crook. When you can unring a bell, do inform the press.

A wardrobe tip- ‘Impeach With Honor’ shirts wear well.)

    Lesson #3 for conservatives: 3+3=6, not 33.
