L.A. County Sheriff Asks Permission to Send Deputies to Obama Inauguration at Possible Cost of $1 Million

I think L.A. County can easily afford a million dollars to provide Sheriff’s Deputies for the inauguration. Don’t you?

If this actually happens, an enterprising news organization ought to get the name of every single inmate who gets an early release from L.A. County Jail during the period when the deputies are gone. You know — the inmates who are released early because we supposedly can’t afford to house them for their full sentence.

Then, the news organization could keep track of all of them and see what crimes they commit. Instant story.

Don’t thank me, L.A. Times editors. Just do the story. That would be thanks enough.

  1. Perhaps it would make more economic sense to just change the tavern hours here to match what they’re doing for the inauguration in DC.

If this isn’t the politicization of law enforcement, I would hate to ask for an example of what is.

Today, probably do, after 20 mill does not come into county coffers due to folks not being able to afford to pay their annual rent?, probably not.

GAWD knows reporters probably make a bunch less and for sure don’t require all that specialized equipment, and are supposedly “trained writers” which makes them the perfect replacement for cops! Right? I mean don’t most cops just wear fancy uniforms, guns and fill out paperwork after the crimes have been committed?

  3. Given that most counties in the state are making budget cuts due to the state’s budget crisis, this is crazy.

    At the L.A.Co.Board of Supes?
Are you living in an alternative universe?
Gloria Molina and Mark Ridley Thomas will probably vote to double the ante.

  7. LA Times? Do a story?

    HAHAHAHAHAHA.

LAT doesn’t know how to do stories. All of its journalists will be too busy attending the Obamanauguration to do any journalism.

  8. Why not just eliminate the bureaucratic costs and send LA convicts to DC for the inauguration, it would save money up front and lessen the downside later on?

    Makes sense to me.

By the way for those tat are without tickets, I have found this awesome website on the internet today http://crashtheinauguration.com it lets you find a place to stay and book a room online with local DC residents, info on how to get to DC, and info on parties and events going on.

    Cheers!
