“He is Coming”

[Guest post by Jack Dunphy]

My Pajamas Media column on LAPD chief William Bratton’s endorsement of Barack Obama drew some interesting comments, not least of which was one from someone who posted under the sobriquet Truth First:

Make no mistake: It is Barack Obama’s destiny to be President of the United States. Justice demands it. The Truth demands it. The World demands it.

Oppressed peoples throughout the world are looking to Obama for hope. For Justice. For an end to war. For America to stop attacking the world and for it to start being a just and peaceful member of the community of nations.

If for some reason he is not elected then there will be a cry of outrage so great that America and all its racist institutions will shake and collapse. It will be the end of America and God will damn it for its final and most terrible sin.

Truth First included a link to his blog site, on which he identifies himself as a worker of unspecified duties in the Obama campaign. He describes a recent conversation he had with Senator Obama which, if true, is revealing. An excerpt:

It has been six months since I joined the Obama campaign. Sometimes it feels like lifetime ago. So much has happened. There has been a great deal of traveling and I’ve seen more of America than I have ever cared to see. I am still astounded by how large this backwards and flawed nation is. I express this to Senator Obama.

“I understand. Believe me, I feel the same way.” Obama pauses and puts down the water bottle and rubs his eyes with both hands. “There is so much that I must do and sometimes I don’t know if eight years will be enough.”

The McCain people continue to claim Obama is a Socialist or that he will take money from plumbers. “They do not understand,” Obama says. “I wish sometimes I could just grab one of them by the shoulders and just yell, ‘wake up and get with the program!’”.

“Some people get it, a lot of them actually. They know what I must do. America is broken. Look at the rallies.” And he’s right. I don’t believe any of his appearances this week attracted less than 10,000 people.

“We have walked down a long path and I don’t mean just you and me. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, W. E. B. Dubois, they all started the path and I can finish it”.

I tell Obama the legend of Amon-Ra, a God of ancient Egypt who attains the characteristics of all other gods. “Sometimes you remind me of him,” I tell him.

Obama smiles and looks out the window. Outside is America; a land that needs a wise and just leader.

He is coming.

Gosh, and I thought he was just another hack pol from Chicago. If Obama is victorious next Tuesday, I suppose I can look forward to a period of re-education until I can be brought to accept his divinity. All hail our Maximum Leader!

UPDATE: It appears commenter Grvm (#28) is correct: It’s a spoof, and a good one. See here.

Here is another post for this guys log.

  3. Um, point of order – you seemed to address HIM directly – and even in print, the direct eye contact “type” of interaction is , um, not “appropriate.” So let us praise Ob_ma, may His Name be praised.

[Secretly, I am very thrilled – I envision torch-lit rallies, singing, more marching – the joy of being part of a divine movement whereby the People embrace their DESTINY! Ich Be…. opps. Um, I mean – the State will be there to “help” – with private ownership respected! It will merely be the government, of and by the People, gathering up the disparate parts, sort of personified as the “sticks” of our country- economy, resources, talents, industries, etc – and the State will secure them together in a sort of more effective “bundle” – Oh I Hope…… i feel that God is With Us! At least that is what my Obama belt-buckle says……] ONWARD!!!

All I can say is I hope this guy is either joking, a third-rate Stephen Glass, or as disturbed and delusional as the Backwards “B” Bimbo.

If he’s not … Ho Lee Crap, are we in trouble.

  5. Looking over that blog, reading through the posts going back a year or so, I feel 90% certain that it’s a parody or the work of a conservative plant. Then there’s a 9% chance that the guy is completely delusional and is talking to a picture of Obama on the wall of his padded cell. But that leaves a f’in scary 1%.

  9. Something struck me when I read this. They all keep talking about these huge crowds at these rallys. Most of The Messiah’s rally’s have been held in large population centers, not the rural communities or suburbs that bore him. McCain’s crowds may be a little smaller but tend to be located outside the areas where the “elites” live. Just an observation.

Never put your faith in one guy, because we’re all flawed. Ask John Hinderaker about claiming Bush is a genius and ask this dork in a couple of months about Obama. People, especially politicians, always disappoint.

  17. Obama has no idea of what it is like to actually run anything. He can’t even get to meetings on time. If we have the bad luck to see him elected, I doubt he will get anything done. Congress will run things, as they did under Carter. The only thing Carter could control was the White House tennis court schedule. Read this about Carter and see if it doesn’t sound like Obama.

It soon became clear, in ways I shall explain, that Carter and those closest to him to him took office in profound ignorance of their jobs. They were ignorant of the possibilities and the most likely pitfalls. They fell prey to predictable dangers and squandered precious time.

We can only hope. I got a call Sunday evening from a McCain volunteer in Washington, DC encouraging me to vote. I was able to tell her that I had already voted. If they have enough volunteers to call voters in dark blue California, they may be better organized than I hear. I plan to make some calls myself this weekend.

The best explanation I’ve seen for the behavior of this Obamabot is the hard wired human need for religion, even the lefty atheists. Until now, Global Warming has served this need but Obama seems to have stepped in as another object of adoration.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  18. Ah, the cult of Obama! The “world” wants Him!

  20. EEGAD!!! Are these people psycho?

I don’t get, can’t wrap my brain around it…..Why are American sabotaging themselves? Why can’t they see that Obama and his “followers” will destroy the American way of life?

  21. Fouad Ajami sees the Obama phenomenon as similar to the Arab street of his youth.

My boyhood, and the Arab political culture I have been chronicling for well over three decades, are anchored in the Arab world. And the tragedy of Arab political culture has been the unending expectation of the crowd — the street, we call it — in the redeemer who will put an end to the decline, who will restore faded splendor and greatness. When I came into my own, in the late 1950s and ’60s, those hopes were invested in the Egyptian Gamal Abdul Nasser. He faltered, and broke the hearts of generations of Arabs. But the faith in the Awaited One lives on, and it would forever circle the Arab world looking for the next redeemer.

    An interesting perspective.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  22. Mike K:

Under Carter, Congress had a democrat majority in both houses, but they were adults. Most were patriotic WWII or Korean War vets, not the childish, self serving rabble we have today. My fear is that Pelosi and Reid will be steam rolled by Obama’s people. Spending and taxes will bankrupt the country and after 8 years we will be Argentina.

    This guy is a problem.

  24. Here’s a little satire that may become all too true for Obots after the election:

    To All Small Business Owners
    Owners

As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama,
will be our next President, and that my Taxes and Fees, will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure, that the Customer, will have to see an increase in my
fees to them of about, 8%. I will also have to lay off 6 of my employees. This really bothered me as
I believe we are family here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did.

I strolled thru the parking lot and found, 8 Obama bumper stickers on my employees cars.

I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

I can’t think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.
I am sending this letter to all Business owners that I know.

    Sincerely
    Ward

  25. Oh yes, “worship”, #23

Why, I can’t count all the times this site compares Sarah Palin to Egyptian mythological figures.

Face it, despite the Left’s most fervert fantasies to the contrary. No Republican I have EVER met keeps pictures of Bush around their house, or encourages their students to write songs/dances telling how glorious Bush is, or kept gigantic portraits of Bush over them as they worked on campaiging.

    This is classic projection.

(Yes we “worship” Bush, that’s why we laid into him over Prescription Drugs, Dubai Ports, Harriet Meiers, etc……..)

    Techie (62bc5d)

  26. All I hear on this site is worship of Sarah Palin George Bush and what Ronnie Raygun? And yes it gets damn close to worship.

I see that Senor Haddon came back to lie to us again today.

  27. That Blog is a spoof. The guy did an interview with another Blogger Tim Bob. So i’m 95% sure this isn’t something serious.

Pretty good way to get noticed is to post in comments. Sneaky sneaky guy…

    CW Desiato (614aa7)

  30. “The one” The republicans came up with that not the democrats.

I think we came up with Teh Messiah. Teh One was already taken by Baracky.

    JD (5b4781)

  31. Oh, please. There’s no way this guy’s telling the truth.

“I understand. Believe me, I feel the same way.” Obama pauses and puts down the water bottle and rubs his eyes with both hands. “There is so much that I must do and sometimes I don’t know if eight years will be enough.”

Like him or not, Obama just doesn’t talk like this.

Things That Come Between Us (6bc51c)

  32. But Hussein O sold millions of doo dad gadgets which won’t work during a 30 minute con of America. They will only cost each working American $10,000, + shipping of course, per year for the next 10 years. Buying a pig in a poke seems to be the norm for democrats who don’t realize pigs won’t stay in a poke.

    Scrapiron (850cda)

  33. Does this make it more believable

“I…uh…understand. Aaaaannnnnnnd believe me, I…uh…feel…uh…the same way.” Obama pauses and puts down the water bottle and rubs his eyes with both hands. “There is…uh…so much that I…uh…must do aaaaannnnnnnd sometimes I…uh…don’t know if…uh…eight years will…uh…be enough to…uh…undo everything George Bush has done.”

    CW Desiato (614aa7)

  34. I have seen this guy/gal on other sites. The only reason Obama might win is because of sheeple like this guy. People who do not live in reality.

What will he/she do when they discover that Obama is not a God?

Don’t bet that he is a plant or typing from a padded cell. Many people feel the same about “That One”.

  41. I think TruthFirst is a brilliant joke. First, his style seems modeled after those scam emails from an African lawyer or politician who needs your help moving millions of dollars he stole, but first send your bank account number. Next, he’s too perfect. The godlike savior of the world imagery–spot on.

He’s making fun of Obama voters, not that they don’t deserve it.

    tim maguire (72f509)

  42. “We are the ones we have been waiting for”

Has that not sunk in yet? To call Obama arrogant and presumptuous would be the understatement of the millenium.

  43. Chief Bratton knows that an Obama endorsement will make his job much easier on election night, when Obama loses and L.A. burns. That’s all this is about.

    Icy Truth (1468e4)

  45. Are we sure that Truth First is a spoof. This is from the Sept 2008 post of African in America (the blog which exposes Truth First as a spoof)

The journey began probably about four months ago when I stumbled across a very appalling blog that made the goosebumps crawl on my flesh. It wasn’t just that I disagreed with everything the blog author said…it was that whenever anyone asked for evidence of the things he said, the author’s response was always one of the following:

    “It is the truth.”
“Why do you fear the truth?”
    “It is well documented.”

After watching this appalling piece of bloggery, I thought “It sure would be fun to try to convince everyone that the author is writing satire.”

So I set out on a campaign to – simply by posting comments that sounded as though I knew the author personally – convince other readers that the blog was entirely satire.

    source

I’d like to think it was a spoof and that I was taken in but this just sounds so much like Leonard Jeffries and his followers I am having a hard time believing that.

  46. The small business owner post is almost as good as the guy who gave the waiter’s tip to the homeless man.

Is buyer’s remorse coming even before the election?

Fact: Even if you believe Obama intends to fix health care, most independent analysts say the cost is massive – $1.2 trillion over ten years, according to the highly respected Lewin Group. When the new Congress wakes up next year to a $1 trillion deficit, and answers the overwhelming new demands for another stimulus package, will the leadership really bite on a health care reform package that digs the deficit hole so much deeper?

And that’s just the beginning of what Obama would spend.

    Hmmm

    Mike K (f89cb3)

  47. james haddon wrote: “The one” The republicans came up with that not the democrats.

You don’t know what you are talking about. The person who came up with “The One” is none other than Oprah Winfrey.

Don’t believe me, believe the video evidence. At the very end of Oprah’s vacuous secular sermon before an Obama appearance in Des Moines, IA on December 7, 2007 (which would have been the endless source of lampoons if Sarah Palin had delivered it) hear how references to Obama as “The One” eminated from the 1971 novel The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.

If you’ve got twenty minutes and you’re a bulimic who just had a Grand Slam breakfast, click here for the full Oprah speech.

  51. “It’s a spoof, and a good one”

It’s not a parody if you’re saying exactly what black racists say.

If it’s a spoof, it’s not a very good one.

The People’s Cube is a funny site which makes communists and communism in particular and leftist clods in general objects of ridicule. The TruthFirstNow blog doesn’t do that.

    Example:

“Obama will bring social, moral and economic justice to America. America has never known true justice and Obama will change that.”

“America clearly needs economic justice now more than ever.”

“Obama is following the Africa principal of UJIMA which is collective work and responsibility. That is, to build and maintain our community together to make our sister and brothers’ problems our problems and to solve them together.”

“I have helped Senator Obama get in touch with his Africa heritage and as President, he will rule with the wisdom of his African forefathers.”

So where’s the parody and ridicule?

    Dave Surls (acf9f3)

  52. I went to Truth First’s web log. He says that he is a college teacher of history and that he has been travelling with and advising Obama. I didn’t think it looked like a joke at all. I agree with Smithee, we are in big trouble. I feel like crying when I think of what my fellow citizens are getting ready to do to our country.

  54. This is not a parody or spoof! Go to the website http://www.truthfirstnow.blogspot.com . I cannot believe that someone would make up anything this elaborate, complete with pictures, links, and an archive dating back to 2006.

    sadlilly (302719)

  57. Sadlilly,

It is easy to spoof dates of posts. On my own blog I have enabled the Archives, created a post, and edited the timestamp to verify the ability to back date posts. I started this blog only a couple months ago but according to my “Archives” I have a post that is 41 years old. If memory serves, WordPress much less Blogging wasn’t around then. Don’t underestimate a creative mind with lots of time on their hands..

Of course the Author does like to post his link in comments.. And you posted it… I smell a troll. Not pointing fingers or anything.. /nudge /nudge /wink /wink.. Say no more, Say no more…

OMG. If anything should have been a spoof it was this. No one has embarrassed themselves more than Mark Mortford. He even surpassed Matthew’s tingle and Olbermann’s slobbering. Its still hard to wrap one’s mind around the fact that this guy was serious.

    Dana (658c17)

  59. Hey, SPQR, how dare you disparage Sham Wow! like that by comparing it to the Obama informercial! I just hope I can use my Sham Wow! towels to wipe up all of America’s tears once Obama and his leftist illuminati ideals turn America into Islamerica.
