The AP Looks at Racism

Here’s last week’s version of the AP’s monthly reminder that America has a problem with race:

“Race, an inescapable but explosive issue on which both presidential candidates have tread carefully if not tried to ignore, is increasingly popping up as it’s becoming more likely the country will elect its first black president.”

The Associated Press has a history of talking about race, specifically racism aimed at Obama. For instance, from an AP article last April about Obama’s primary race against Hillary Clinton:

RACE: The jury is still out on whether a black man can overcome America’s original sin and be elected president.

About one in five Pennsylvania voters said the race of the candidates was among the top factors in deciding how to vote, according to exit polls, and white voters who cited race supported Clinton over Obama by a 3-to-1 margin.

Results from all the primaries suggest that whites who said race was important in picking their candidate have been about twice as likely to back Clinton as Obama.

An AP-Yahoo News poll found that about 8 percent of whites would be uncomfortable voting for a black president. The actual percentage is probably higher because voters are shy about admitting a racial prejudice to pollsters.

The AP and Yahoo conducted another poll in August and September that addressed race and this article noted continuing racial issues:

“Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them “lazy,” “violent,” responsible for their own troubles.

The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 — about two and one-half percentage points.”

In early October, an AP article claimed Gov. Sarah Palin’s comments were “racially tinged” while another AP article treated Fidel Castro as an expert on America’s race relations:

Fidel Castro says a “profound racism” in the United States will stop millions from voting for Barack Obama in next month’s presidential election.

The ailing, 82-year-old former Cuban president says it is “a miracle that the Democratic candidate hasn’t suffered the same luck as (assassinated leaders) Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others who harbored dreams of equality and justice.”

America will need racial healing after this election no matter who wins, but I bet the AP will shift gears from racism to revenues — especially now that more American newspapers are dropping its service.

  1. both presidential candidates have tread carefully if not tried to ignore,

This is such an aggressive lie by the media, yet it is no longer shocking. Baracky continually reminds us that he is black, that he has a funny sounding name, that he does not look like those guys on the dollar bill, and on and on and on and on …

Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks

The media still cannot imagine that someone could have any reason, other than race, to not support Baracky.

  5. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer, and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill something like we pay our taxes, it would go something like this.

The first 4 men, the lowest earners, would pay nothing.
    The 5th would pay $1.
    The 6th would pay $3.
    The 7th would pay $7.
    The 8th would pay $12.
    The 9th would pay $18.
    The 10th would pay $59.

These 10 men drank at the bar every day and were quite content with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

“Since you are all such good customers, I’m going to take $20 off of your bill every time you come in.”

So, their drinks went from $100 to $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay taxes so.

The first 4 men were still unaffected, they still drank for free.
But what about the other 6 men?

How could they divide this windfall so everyone got their fair share?

They originally wanted to divide it 6 ways, $3.33 a man, but if they did it that way, the 5th and 6th man would wind up getting paid to drink beer.

The owner suggested that they distribute the saving like they distributed the costs.

    In the new scenario
The first 4 still paid nothing.
The 5th now also paid nothing.
    The 6th dropped to $2 from $3, a 33% reduction.
    The 7th dropped to $5 from $7, a 28% reduction.
    The 8th dropped to $9 from $12, a 25% reduction.
    The 9th dropped to $14 from $18, a 22% reduction.
    The 10th dropped to $49 from $59, a 16% reduction.

Each of the 6 taxpayers was better off than they were before. The first 4 continued to drink for free.

When they left, they began to compare their savings.

I only got $1 out of the $20, said the 6th man.
Then he pointed at the 10th man, and said “But he got $10!”

The 5th man, now drinking for free, said “Yeah, I only saved $1 too, it is not fair he got 10 times what I did.”

The 7th man said “Why should I only get $2 back when he gets $10 back, the rich always get all the breaks!”

The first 4 men, in unison, said “Wait. We got nothing at all. Why are you exploiting the poor?”

The 9 men surrounded the 10th man and beat him up.

The next night, the first 9 men showed up for drinks. The 10th did not. They had their drinks, and when the bill came, they did not collectively have enough money to pay even half the bill.

Somehow, I bet Baracky would find a way to get a profit into the pockets of those that were not paying anything, and being oppressed by this unjust system of taxation.

  6. You can call Hussein O the dreaded ‘N’ word and not be racist since he is not black, other than the dark Arab tinge to his skin. He should get togather with Michael Jackson. Jackson ties to be white, Hussein is 50% black and the rest Arab and tries to pass as black. I noticed when Hussein was in Hawaii he’s not quite as black, more of a dirty white, from the neck down. Wonder what he uses to darken his skin to fool the blacks in this country.

  7. ScrapIron – None of that is really necessary, and in fact, plays right into the hands of the stereotypes that the Leftists have of those that are not voting for Baracky.

    Yeah, I’m buying that.

  17. The color of Barack’s skin has nothing to do with why I wouldn’t vote for him for all the tea in China. It has everything to do with him being anti-American, a racist, a liar and a leftist illuminati Socialist.
