  3. The site has been unreachable since last night. I’m glad to see you up again. Let us know about chipping in for server time.

  4. UPDATE: Patterico.com will be moving to a new host this weekend.

Yay!! Again, congrats on the growth Pat.

And, to beat all the trolls to the punch: “New host eh? Would that make Patterico… a parasite?” [rimshot]

    😉

  5. Holy crap, it’s back… Yay!!

    Scott Jacobs (d3a6ec)

  6. I’m not moving to a bigger server; I don’t *think* the server has been the issue. The problem is, I don’t know what the issue is.

It’s a long story and I don’t feel like telling it now. I may never.

    Patterico (f155b9)

  7. Glad you’re up and running! Was stressing there for you…can’t stand to think how stressed YOU were!

I’ll still be clicking on you any number of times during the day, Patterico, whether you’re there or not.

    Too late. 🙂

  10. Glad to see you’re back on your feet, and up and running.
This has been a long, boring day.

  11. Strangely I couldn’t get this site for most of the day, but I discovered I could get the site if I used IE 7.0 instead of firefox 3.0.3.

Now firefox will bring the site up.

    Bizarre.

  12. Yes, it’s been unreachable.

  13. TOP FIVE REAL REASONS WHY PATTERICO’S PONTIFICATIONS CRASHED LAST NIGHT

    5. The son of a Tennessee Democrat state rep hacked PP, so he could show off to his Japanese message board fans

    4. A smashed atom from the British Hadron Collider ricocheted, got stuck in the Ozone layer, fell heavily and created a mini black hole right smack on top of Pat’s Dell Dimension 2400

    3. System failed while DRJ should have been watching it, but she played hooky to get in line early for the premiere of the great new Oliver Stone flick W.

    2. Because he had just checked his 401(k) balance a few moments before, the Geek Squad guy was too upset to pay close attention to performing Pat’s Windows Vista repair order

    1. Patterico knew all along he shouldn’t have hired Joe the Plumber to upgrade his hard drive

I’ve defended you hillbilies out of Will County. Do you have indoor plumbing yet?

  15. The site came up as blank for me until I brought up the latest Google cache. Then all of a sudden the live site started working.

Interestingly enough, I could NOT get the site up in IE 7.0, but it would come up in Foxfire. I could even read comment threads but trying to add a comment hung up the window.

    Darleen (187edc)

  17. I think Oswego has plumbing.

    Dmac (cc81d9)

  18. Doubly interesting, I could not get to the site with either Foxfire or IE…

    Dana (658c17)

  19. what is Foxfire?

    Juan (4cdfb7)

  20. I mentioned last night on the thread from WLS about poll numbers that the site, and that entry specifically, were mentioned by Hugh Hewitt. I think it was an hour or so later that I couldn’t access the site anymore.

Either a volume surge did it, or a political rival took a tip from Hewitt on what conservative sites were being too effective. (Actually I have no idea, way above my IT pay grade, but it sounded good.)

  21. Heh. Darleen and I must have been thinking of Foxfire (sp?), who comments here.

    Dana (658c17)

  22. 19 Juan-

mozilla foxfire web browser, which you can download. http://www.mozilla.com for info

  23. oops, got me confused…firefox…now what was that eastwood movie win which he steals a soviet jet? Firefox?

    madmax333 (0c6cfc)

  24. It’s been blank all day. Finally something came up. Yay!

    kimsch (2ce939)

  25. One of Obama’s spokespeople said that the limit is $250K GROSS! Not net. Lots more than 2% of small businesses can gross $250K….

    kimsch (2ce939)

  26. Just remember…

    GROSS RECEIPTS TAX!

    Another Drew (703fa8)

  27. Yeah, Obama will say it’s 250K gross sales.

    PC14 (82e46c)

  28. Darleen

Thats funny. This site under firefox was blank so I though maybe I said something unacceptable and got banned. So using firefox I tried the tired and true proxy server and bam the site came up, so I though wow I am banned. So being a little familiar with picky computers I tried IE 7 and bam the site came up.

    ML (14488c)

  29. I was concerned that Patterico HAD taken my suggestion and moved to the LA Times’ site. That would make the blank pages the result of the Times’ pro-Obama filter.

    Kevin Murphy (0b2493)

  30. It’s probably some kind of DNS caching or cookie issue.

    Kevin Murphy (0b2493)

  31. “It’s a long story and I don’t feel like telling it now. I may never.”

    Been there done that!

The world of 24/7 is far more complex than flippin on the power button! Been there, done that! Sweat the gold and silicon bullets on too many occasions.

Oh and what #28 said as well.

    Glad it’s back.

Next time you might leave a post over at one of the sites you share stuff with all the time. Ace, XLRQ, someplace so we don’t like panic thinking you got obamatroned er something. 🙂

    TC (0b9ca4)

  32. what is Foxfire?

I assume Dana was refering to the Firefox browser, but foxfire is the name of a bioluminescence produced by certain species of fungi.

    Taltos (4dc0e8)

  33. Well, good to hear the site is back, because I’ve been wondering about this:

Back in September, WLS said this in a post titled Obama’s Fundraising Disaster Now Official

“But the reality on the ground is that for Obama/DNC to match the GOP in spending over the next 52 days, he’ll need to raise $110 million in BOTH September and October.”

Today: Obama announces $150m in fundraising for September.

WLS must be a senior McCain campaign strategist.

    Shodo (dbfcb4)

  34. Today: Obama announces $150m in fundraising for September.

I’ve tried to tell WLS, he’s off the mark with these predictions of imminent Obama campaign money problems, but to no avail, and have come to appreciate his never-say-die persistence.

    Peter (e70d1c)

  35. Yeah, I hope he’ll do a post about that. I’ve found it all rather interesting myself.

    Patterico (cc3b34)

  36. Considering the increasing number of people finding $2,300 charges to Barak’s campaign, that 150 million doesn’t shock me.

Nor am I shocked, due to the nearly half barak’s total raised being from sources they refuse to release.

    Scott Jacobs (d3a6ec)

  37. That’s not true, Scott – how can you challenge a source named “rfzmgh?”
