John Cole: McCain Is a “Coward”

Joe Biden says:

“All of the things they said about Barack Obama in the TV, on the TV, at their rallies, and now on YouTube … John McCain could not bring himself to look Barack Obama in the eye and say the same things to him,”

War hero John Cole goes so far as to call McCain a “coward” for failing to bring up the Ayers issue to Obama directly in a debate.

I’d love to see that too. As WLS points out, that might not be the best strategy for Obama. But I’d like to see it.

But you know what else? I’d love to see Obama say some of the stuff his campaign has said about McCain to his face.

I’d love to see Obama mock McCain to his face for not being able to use a computer — and have McCain point out that this is due to his severe war injuries.

But even more than that, I’d love to see war hero John Cole call McCain a “coward” to his face. In front of a crowd of a few thousand veterans.

That’s what I’d like to see.

  1. What I’d like to see is some “Backbone.” McCain has been limp all throughout this campaign. Now that he is starting to show some spine and stand up, the MSM is circling the wagons around the Obamessiah and 1) supporting his version that these were just some people he knew from his neighborhood and he didn’t know about their extreme views and actions; 2) So what if he knew them, he doesn’t believe what they did or said was right and it happened soooo long ago so leave him alone; and, 3) this is just a distraction because McCain doesn’t want to talk about the economy which is all the fault of the Republicans!

If I didn’t know better, I’d be a pretty discouraged Republican about now. The MSM has done an excellent job of whitewatering, I mean Whitewashing That One. And the polls look dim for our side. But I’m not discouraged now for several reasons: 1) The truth about Obama’s Redical Associations and voting record will get out; 2) many conservative Democrats will experience buyer’s remorse and vote McCain come election day (see all states where Hillary trounced Obama); 3) the polls are set up to favor the Dems and I envision about a 10 point swing from what the MSM say they “show” now to what they will actually be on election day; 4) The American People are not Stupid and will figure out that this guy is completely unqualified to be POTUS. I have yet to hear any Obama supporter answer the question: Point to One accomplishment of Obama’s, one simple accomplishment, he has that supports the view that he is ready to be POTUS?

Fear not old faithful Elephants, come election night there will be a great depression across the land, a great depression amongst the liberal elite, the MSM, and the wacky lefty nutroots as they mourn their loss. And the word of the day will be…. Rascism! Yeah, that’s it. Not that he is like the most unqualified guy ever to run for POTUS. Not that he is the most liberal voting member of Congress. Not that his policies would send us deeper into a depression that will last much longer because of them. American’s are Rascist, yeah, that’s why he lost. I can hear ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and PBS announcers already, “It’s a sad day for America when rascism cost our sainted One the election, bwah bwah bwah”

He doesn’t have the guts to trash talk someone to his face.
    He’s ashamed.

  4. Don’t forget the threats of riots should the Anointed One be denied his due.

I don’t see how a steady daily loss of money in our markets will help McCain though. Most people I know parrot the media lies. I will find black humor if the country is “led” by Obama, Reid and Pelosi. I suppose these conservative sites will be censored. Never understood the “Fairness Doctrine” either. PBS and NPR get taxpayer money and get lean hard left. So why aren’t they included in stifling of free speech? Or that proposed union check off thing where potential members have no more right to secret ballot? Could the in-house trolls explain and rationalize this bullshit for me?

Obama was once working for and lately paying ACORN to register more voters. And the corruption seems endemic throughout the battleground states. One dude was registered to vote 72 times by ACORN? 105% of eligible Indianapolis voters have registered? How many already dead and buried “voters” will cast ballots of Obama? I’m sure mario backwards, harpy, lovewad and others here can rationalize these things.

I do hope you people in red states will make the effort to vote against Obama. Kind of depressing where I live…solid Obama country. And the previously rabid Hillary and Edwards supporters are on board with crapweasel barry hussein.

Can’t imagine what that would do somebody like the O!ne. I suppose he would feel as if he had been physically beaten.

  7. I would pay to see Nanker or Cole say that to McCain’s face.

  8. Meanwhile, Beldar, McCain is free to use innuendo to imply Obama’s a terrorist? “What did Obama know?”

Guess what, John, he’s on-stage with you the next day and, if you want to know so badly, why don’t you ask him? Answer: he won’t, because outside of feeding red-meat to the 30% of the electorate who screams obscenities at press buses and claims Obama’s a Muslim, McCain knows the whole thing is stupid.

He’s playing all of you and you’re too blinded by fear of “the Socialist” to act rationally.

  11. Things like this always bother me. I don’t claim to speak for all vets but the ones I do know are usually respectful enough not to say things like this. Considered bad protocol. Amongst ourselves we may voice opinions but there is an understanding those are not for public consumption. Most of us recognize that unless we were actually there no one really knows if someone acted courageously or cowardly.
Go back to 2004 and see what the swift boat vets focused on – it was primarily on the actions of Kerry after he returned with some factual correction about where he actually was that Christmas. The allegations about his injuries being self-inflicted were not brought up by them.

There’s verification of the total registered but, of course, no mention of the other issue.

    Here’s more.

They have this thing called Google. You should try it some time. You wouldn’t look so dumb.

  15. They also have this thing called the Indianapolis Star, which is a newspaper and not a blog.

Rather than trafficking in unsourced (or barely sourced) blog entries from right wing sites, the Star went to the offices of the very ambitious, very Republican, and very conservative Secretary of State’s office (champion of voter ID laws) and asked his deputy! Oh, how strange, going to a public official and asking him a question? I know it’s easier believing the rumors from the fever swamp, but here’s a quote from the article:

“We have a lot of people who want to participate in this election, including more than 300,000 who, the best we can tell, have never participated before,” said Matt Tusing, deputy secretary of state.

Tusing goes on to say this:

Tusing said the allegation that there are more voters registered in Marion County [Indianapolis] than there are voting-age residents is far less troubling. He said that is more likely the result of county election officials failing to purge about 90,000 inactive voters in 2006 as part of a consent decree set out by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Under state and federal rules, inactive voters — those who failed to respond to two mailings and have not cast ballots in the past two federal elections — should be purged from county voter lists.

“Almost all counties have removed their inactive voters, but Marion County elected not to remove 88,210 who have been inactive since at least 2004,” Tusing said. “We notified them that they weren’t in compliance with Indiana and federal law, but they did not heed our notice.”

He said that as many as 30,000 voters on the Marion County list could be deceased, and many others might have moved from the county.

However, the point is moot now, Tusing said, because voter lists cannot be purged within 90 days of the election.

“I am not going to say this anomaly is exclusive of any inappropriate behavior,” he said, “but we would hope that those on the ground in Marion County are working hard to prevent any inappropriate behavior.”

Cindy Mowery, a Republican member of the county Board of Voter Registration, agreed the situation is more likely the result of a disagreement over “housekeeping” than widespread fraud.

“This is pretty typical, and it is probably a little more so because this is a presidential year,” she said. “But I believe the election will be conducted in a fair and accurate way.”

Mowery said the state’s voter ID law, which requires voters to show an accepted photo identification to cast a ballot, should safeguard against voter fraud.

Shockingly, it’s much ado about nothing. Allegations of voter fraud FOR Democrats in a state with a Republican Sec of State, a Republican governor, and a conservative judiciary seems sort of silly.

But, as it’s becoming clear, you guys cannot accept that you are about to lose. You are alleging Obama could win Indiana, a state Bush carried by 500,000 votes with voter fraud (that’s a hell of a lot of fraud!).

Indiana? Hell, even Dole won here.

Bunch of tinfoil hat, conspiracy nuts….already deciding a guy who’s about to win 320 electoral votes couldn’t have possibly done it without voter fraud AND right under the nose of the Bush DOJ!?! Maybe you could tell, Mike, how the WTC was an inside job?

No problem, then pal ? At last until those 90,000 cast absentee ballots. My God ! Are these people dumb or just robots ? The total registered voters, alive and dead or moved away, exceed the population !!!!! Christ !!!

Maybe if they keep humming Kumbaya to themselves, we’ll let them steal the election.

No, merely a terrorist sympathizer. For years, possibly decades. I realize you’re angry and panicky, and you have every reason to be, but let’s try to keep things on track here.

Isn’t it amazing the way that bird-flipping, tire-slashing, sign-stealing, Molotov-cocktail tossing, rape-wishing Democrats are all of a sudden bemoaning the lack of civility in politics?

Uh huh. Point blank, tim: Would you like to have a Socialist as POTUS? It’s a simple question with a simple answer: “Yes, I would,” or “No, I wouldn’t.” Don’t chicken out.

  26. Christopher Buckley is voting for Obama

As for Kathleen, she has to date received 12,000 (quite literally) foam-at-the-mouth hate-emails. One correspondent, if that’s quite the right word, suggested that Kathleen’s mother should have aborted her and tossed the fetus into a Dumpster. There’s Socratic dialogue for you. Dear Pup once said to me sighfully after a right-winger who fancied himself a WFB protégé had said something transcendently and provocatively cretinous, “You know, I’ve spent my entire life time separating the Right from the kooks.” Well, the dear man did his best. At any rate, I don’t have the kidney at the moment for 12,000 emails saying how good it is he’s no longer alive to see his Judas of a son endorse for the presidency a covert Muslim who pals around with the Weather Underground. So, you’re reading it here first.
As to the particulars, assuming anyone gives a fig, here goes:”
    continue

“Isn’t it amazing the way that bird-flipping, tire-slashing, sign-stealing, Molotov-cocktail tossing, rape-wishing Democrats are all of a sudden bemoaning the lack of civility in politics?”

  27. #26 12:15pm – Christopher Buckley is voting for Obama

Maybe you missed something, but ‘somebody else likes them’ is not a reason to support a candidate.

Did you read your own link?
But having a first-class temperament and a first-class intellect, President Obama will (I pray, secularly) surely understand that traditional left-politics aren’t going to get us out of this pit we’ve dug for ourselves. If he raises taxes and throws up tariff walls and opens the coffers of the DNC to bribe-money from the special interest groups against whom he has (somewhat disingenuously) railed during the campaign trail, then he will almost certainly reap a whirlwind that will make Katrina look like a balmy summer zephyr.

In short, Buckley’s praying that Obama shows none of the tendencies that he’s already shown in his short, short, short history of political thought.

Chris Buckley isn’t voting for Obama, he’s voting for someone he hopes Obama will become.

    Apogee (366e8b)

  28. Buckley is a Republican who is voting for a Democrat and hoping for the best, rather than voting for someone who has shown himself to be fundamentally unserious and irresponsible. He’s voting for Obama because he thinks he has no choice.
I’m a socialist who is voting for the same man, for the same reason.

Buckley and I are both fundamentally sane.

    Icy Truth (1468e4)

  30. Speaking of Kathleen Parker, she has all but endorsed Obama too, dedicating her newest column to interviewing a West Virginian novelist about the way Obama might be able to appeal to Appalachian voters.

She ends thusly: “Straight talk without condescension is all anyone asks. It may be all Obama needs to finish the race.”

He does have a choice, and in 2004, he exercised it: Rather than vote for either John Kerry or George W. Bush, he wrote in George H.W. Bush.

Buckley thinks Obama is a great writer and is a “first-class intellect,” which apparently means to Buckley that Obama will come to realize that the best way to run the country is the way Christopher Buckley would. As Apogee detailed, he’s been blinded by the hype.

I’m a socialist who is voting for the same man, for the same reason.

Buckley and I are both fundamentally sane.
