Quote of the Day

Yeah, the day’s just beginning. I still like it:

The lesson of the last eight years is that we had a president who was not that well versed on foreign affairs coming into office and we had a vice president who was supposed to make up for that deficiency. It seems to me the Obama campaign is trying to establish the Bush model.

More of the same.

  1. Who cares what either Lugar or Rice think? Nice how Rice fit right in with the Arabist State Dept. I could see a spot for her in an Obama administration. Just have to show oodles of respect for a so-called Republican who would support Obama because he’s a nominal magic negro that shares skin color with her. But now we know she lauds affirmative action and wants more AAs as diplomats because she rarely sees any at State.
Where’s the loyalty to the President when the CIA and State both go off the reservation and against Executive Office policies? Yeah, the CIA does a crackerjack job…big thumbs up for their historical success in knowing what is going on with things like USSR and Cold war or faulty intel on Iraq. And blind to the moles in their midst, along with the geniuses at FBI. Bush should have kicked all their sorry asses to the curb or at least prosecuted those who compromised national security.

  2. Another blog, unfortunately I can’t remember which one, pointed out that the questioner didn’t bother to ask Rice what she thought about Obama’s experience.

  4. Here is an excellent description of the differences between Obama and McCain on foreign policy. A stark choice, I’d say.

    Mike K (2cf494)

  5. And then on the other side we have a brain dead man who doesn’t know Sunnis from Shiite and can’t remember what he said yesterday with a VP who says she has foreign experience because her state borders Russia. Bush knew those attacks were coming and he did nothing for whatever reason.

    Hannah Stevens (906b00)

  6. “The more the New York Times and The Washington Post go after Sarah Palin, the better off she is, because there’s a bigger truth out there and the bigger truths are she’s new, she’s popular in Alaska and she is an insurgent,” Feehery said. “As long as those are out there, these little facts don’t really matter.”

That’s the quote of the day.
As Rick Davis says: “This Election is Not About Issues’

Heck of a job Ricky. And you too Mr Frey.

  7. The press is certainly getting more “nuanced” in their attacks on Palin. Oh well, nobody reads them anyway.

  8. “The lesson of the last eight years is that we had a president who was not that well versed on foreign affairs coming into office and we had a vice president who was supposed to make up for that deficiency.”

No. We had a party in control who stands for failed policies. Pre emptive war, occupation of a sovereign country, tax cuts for the rich, do nothing on the most expensive health care in the world, and sucking at regulating the financial markets.

The same policies McCain has promised to continue.

It’s just another stab at trying to bring Obama down.

How many attempts has it been now? Sure wish someone would make a list. Lipstick on a pig didn’t work, huh? Secret Muslim?

The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County Michigan.

He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed.

But that is precisely what the Senator from Arizona is doing.”

    jar@my home computer (6b0755)

  18. It doesn’t even matter if the people are still living there?

If it has been forclosed upon, no one should be living there.

That’s what Forclosed means… Mean sthey took the home, and booted you.

    Scott Jacobs (a1c284)

  19. “It doesn’t even matter if the people are still living there?”

For every fraudulent vote one legitimate vote is disenfranchised. I would assume the voter with the fraudulent address forgot where he/she lives can file a provisional ballot.

    Bel Aire (2fd7f7)

  20. “Bush knew those attacks were coming”. Well, technically that is true. He did know those attacks were coming, the famous daily briefing from 6-Aug told him so. Or at least it told him that several years earlier al Qaeda had been planning attacks. The only thing it didn’t tell him was what form the attacks would take, when they would come, or where. The briefing did mention federal buildings in Manhattan, so he boosted security there; anyone trying to drive a truck bomb into Federal Plaza would probably have failed. I’m not sure what else he could have done about it.

    Milhouse (89df7f)

  21. I would assume the voter with the fraudulent address forgot where he/she lives can file a provisional ballot.

They can, and it would be offered. Nice scare tactic though… How dare those republicans try and make sure no one stuffs the ballot box!

    Scott Jacobs (a1c284)

  22. Perhaps “More of the same.” format when you look at it from your lens ocirettaP. But the tactic the Obama/Biden Camp has outlined has been very different on foreign policy than McCain/Palin’s.

It is refreshing however to note that you realize that we do need a change from the foreign policy of the last 8 years.

    Oiram (983921)

  23. “If it has been forclosed upon, no one should be living there.”

    Simply not true.

    jar@my home computer (6b0755)

  24. 22, You don’t know what you are talking about. When a home is forclosed, the former owner is forced to vacate. Now, if anyone does enter and make it a domicile, they are breaking the law and can be arrested.

Either way, any one who attempts to register from that address would be a fraudulent voter.

    PCD (1df2b5)

  25. “Simply not true.”

Defend that statement JAR. Foreclosure means a creditor, whether a lender or taxing authority or somebody else has taken possession of the property for nonpayment of obligations.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  26. JAR – Your continued lies about Bush knowing attacks were coming before 9/11. Those warnings were the same ones Clinton got countless times. We’ve been over this before. Why do you persist with the debunked lies.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  27. Just had someone at work ask the following:

“So if McCain gets up on a stage and talks about Obama’s record of voting with his party 97% of the time, and says “Well, I guess monkey see, monkey do”, it would be ok and no one should complain?”

    Scott Jacobs (a1c284)

  28. “JAR – Your continued lies about Bush knowing attacks were coming before 9/11. ”

That wasn’t me. But as long as I’m here

The following is from a transcript of the August 6, 2001, presidential daily briefing entitled Bin Laden determined to strike in US.
“We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a —- service in 1998 saying that Bin Laden wanted to hijack a U.S. aircraft to gain the release of “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman and other U.S.-held extremists.

Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.

The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full-field investigations throughout the U.S. that it considers bin Laden-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our embassy in the UAE in May saying that a group or bin Laden

    Bush’s Response:
“All right. You’ve covered your ass.”

    jar@my home computer (6b0755)

  29. Whoa, Scott! People at your place of work get to talk like that? What a hive of rascist reactionaries!

I trust you denounced this person to the Citizens Colorblindness Compliance Committee.

    Don (07819b)

  30. Why are you guys trying to argue logically with JAR the gerbil-molester? He’s equating a threatened foreclosure or the announcement of a foreclosure with a processed and completed foreclosure.

That would be the part where deputies with guns come to your house and say “I don’t care where you go, but you have to get up outta here and you have to do it right NOW,” you stupid lying fuck!

So, like I said, it’s kinda useless to argue with someone whose postings on this blog total 90% quotes & links, and 10% nearly worthless opinions.

    Icy Truth (d55d4c)

  31. JAR – Your continued lies about Bush knowing attacks were coming before 9/11. Those warnings were the same ones Clinton got countless times. We’ve been over this before. Why do you persist with the debunked lies.

Because jar believes in the essential truth of the following:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” —Joseph Goebbels

    Horatio (783c7d)

  32. Speaking of Bush knowing about 911 and doing nothing? Like Clinton having been offered Osama’s head on a platter and doing nothing?
Like the asshole FBI supervisor forbidding anyone looking into the 20th hijacker’s computer hard drive in Minn.?
Like the infamous Gorelick wall between intelligence services? Funny how jamie is involved in more recent woes costing taxpayers money?
Speaking of pigs with lipstick who mate way above their own looks- what does fire doesn’t melt steel harridan Rosie O have to say about 911 today?
Why shouldn’t people with addresses traced back to foreclosed homes vote? Don’t dead people vote in Chicago and Philly? Students in Wisconsin over and over? Snowbirds in Fla. and NY/NJ vote in several jurisdictions? And let’s not forget the yeoman services of ACORN- one of Barry Hussein’s past comm. activist organizations and current strong arm Obama facilitator.
Well,as far as fresh fruit goes, I think the original post reflected on Michelle’s inability to find enough for her cherubs, but I can see the Sullivan slur too. But alas, the Log Cabin Rethugs have endorsed McCain, eh?

So what is the procedure? A troll Obamabotturd sees a new post and calls up his/her buddies to post the same DNC/fawning lib media drool?

    madmax333 (0c6cfc)

  33. The 9/11 Truther nonsense aside, jar’s actually right about living in your home after it’s been foreclosed. It depends on the terms of the foreclosure and varies from state-to-state. I have a friend who lived in his house for two months after the bank foreclosed (until the house was auctioned off). He only received an eviction notice at that time and then had 14 days to vacate. So yes, you can in fact live in your house after foreclosure. You don’t have the right to, but some people aren’t heartless assholes bent on evicting you the first chance they get.

I don’t know what the law is in Michigan, though.

    SEK (072055)

  34. The quote doesn’t refer to whether people are still in their homes or not. And of course eviction procedures take time. But if you want the talking point you can have it.
“Lose your home, lose your right to vote!”
    It’s all yours.

And the 9-11 reference wasn’t made by me kids, but as long as I’m here

We’ve known for years now that George W. Bush received a presidential daily briefing on Aug. 6, 2001, in which he was warned: “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” We’ve known for almost as long that Bush went fishing afterward.

What we didn’t know is what happened in between the briefing and the fishing, and now Suskind is here to tell us. Bush listened to the briefing, Suskind says, then told the CIA briefer: “All right. You’ve covered your ass, now.”

    jar@my home computer (6b0755)

  35. #31 – SEK

I don’t know what the law is in Michigan, though.
    http://www.foreclosure.com/statelaw_MI.html
As you can see there, a notice of foreclosure is made and a date of sale is set before the actual foreclosure is completed. The owner is allowed to remain in the house in-between the posting of the notice and the actual sale, but not after the actual foreclosure has been completed.

    Icy Truth (c43387)

  36. Suskind is here to tell us. Bush listened to the briefing, Suskind says, then told the CIA briefer: “All right. You’ve covered your ass, now.”

JAR – We also know that Suskind is a proven fabricator and liar, but sells a lot of books to liberals because he hates Bush.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  37. “Lose your home, lose your right to vote!”
    Wear it.

“JAR – We also know that Suskind is a proven fabricator and liar,”

We also know daley that you’ve been witnessed in flagrante with a Yak.
I’ve seen the pictures, but I can’t find them now.
    BUT I’VE SEEN THEM!

    jar@my home computer (6b0755)

  38. Yes, Jar, I mentioned the 6-Aug briefing earlier. It told Bush that several years earlier, al Qaeda had decided to mount unspecified attacks on the USA, at some time and place to be determined. Now what exactly was Bush supposed to do about it? Not gone fishing, because maybe they’d attack him at the fishing place? Of what conceivable use was this briefing, except to cover the CIA’s backside in case something happened? Without any clue as to what form the attacks might take, when they might come, and where, going fishing was about the most useful thing he could do with the rest of his day.

    Milhouse (89df7f)

  39. From much of what we’ve heard, even if President Bush spoke as described, it might have been an appropriate remark.

It is my understanding that the information in that daily briefing included nothing that hadn’t already been known a long time, and gave nothing to guide any specific action.

    MD in Philly (3d3f72)

  40. Something more to read on the issue

    jar@my home computer (6b0755)

  41. MD in Philly: “the information in that daily briefing included nothing that hadn’t already been known a long time”.

Not quite. Al Qaeda’s decision to attack the USA had been made several years earlier, but the CIA had only recently learned of it, and that was what the briefing was about. “We just found out that they decided a few years ago to attack us. We still don’t know how, when, or where, or even whether they’re still planning it. For all we know they may have already tried and failed, and decided to give up.”

    Milhouse (89df7f)

  42. JAR – Why are you just recycling garbage? Do you think you are really adding anything here?

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  43. Milhouse-

Thank you for the clarification. As you describe it, maybe he had even more reason to castigate the CIA.

    MD in Philly (3d3f72)

  44. “He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed.”

Those meanspirited nasty Republicans, always with their narrow-minded “lets follow the law” attitude. Gosh that puts the crimp on a good city political machine!

jarhead, PS: Are you saying that we should allow fraudulent voting? That we should allow violations of election law?

    Travis Monitor (9e3371)

  45. Icy Truth, reading around, it looks like the Michigan foreclosure process takes about six weeks but post-auction redemption period is six months. Your house could be foreclosed and auctioned off on May 5th and you could still be legally living in it come November 4th. If that’s the case, I think people are correct to call shenanigans on striking these people from the rolls.

    SEK (072055)

  46. “pointed out that the questioner didn’t bother to ask Rice what she thought about Obama’s experience.”

Such questions are racist is why. At least to the Obamedia. They cannot possibly understand why being a community agitator isn’t suitable grooming to be President.

    Travis Monitor (9e3371)

  47. ““It is amazing to me that Obama campaign has let things go this far …”

It’s amazing to me that a quote from in-the-tank Joe Klein is apropos anything except illustrating his self-evident bias: “Please, Obama, I’m trying to help you … I’m throwing darts at McCain, cant you please pick them up and *use* them too?”

    Travis Monitor (9e3371)

  48. Jar, it is illegal for a person living at an address not listed on their voter registration information to vote at that precinct, unless the local law allow for an exception, and the voter is responsible for making the proper changes on their registration in the appropriate manner, in the appropriate time frame for a local election. Local elections in this case include any and all elections held in a locality, since voter registration rules are locally controlled, by the local and state governments.

These rules have been argued in federal courts for over 100 years, and the current rules are legally sustainable. The fact that a voter can submit a vote under challenge is the most recent change in these rules approved by the federal courts.

But, the simple rule is: if a house has been forclosed on, and the process is complete, the voter no longer lives at that address, and their current right to vote is legal to be challenged. Even the Katrina rules, which allowed the most liberal exceptions to these rules, had limits, and the time for exceptions has been ruled stopped. Even for the evacuations, and the first primary here in Louisiana has been posponed, people who do not legally vote absentee or return to cast a legal ballot will lose their right to vote in their evacuated places.

Please don’t be so stupid as to imply that someone who has been forclosed has lost their right to vote. That just proves your stupidity.

    reff (959425)

  49. “If it has been forclosed upon, no one should be living there.”Simply not true.

I lived next to home that got foreclosed. It turned into a haven for prostitutes and drug dealers while in the process of having no resident owners. Maybe jar speaks with authority on this matter.

    Travis Monitor (9e3371)

  50. Bin Laden determined to strike in US

Wow. From the moment that was typed, President Bush should have grounded all air traffic, closed all major highways, sealed the borders, deported all illegals, and instituted martial law. His failure to do so resulted in 9/11.

JAR really is an asshat today.

    JD (6a8c0a)

  51. Aug 9, 2001.

So, President Bush also went to sleep at least 30 times between then and Sept. 11., right?

zOMG Bush Slept While Osama PlanneD!!!!

    Techie (e437b8)

  52. Fraudulent voting is a serious concern. ACORN has already been caught with fraudulent voter registrations.

Oh, and who worked for ACORN? That’s right – Obama.
