Words Nancy Pelosi May Regret

Filed under: General — DRJ @ 9:37 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s message to female Clinton supporters at the Democratic National Convention on the importance of moving forward and not wallowing in defeat:

“I think that women, we have to get away from the politics of victim. This is about you go out there and you fight.”

At least she didn’t joke about drilling their brains.

  1. If they move away from the “victim” ideology, what do they have left?

    Wind turbines?

  2. Small, pretty wind turbines.

  3. Does not ‘getting away from the politics of victim’ mean leaving the party?

Oh, that’s right. I forgot the new spin: those that have made it must play nanny to those that have not.

  4. “By the way, do you know the story about Tito and Mrs. Thatcher? He said, in her presence — referring to the wife he had just fired — “Women shouldn’t meddle in politics.” Thatcher said, “As for me, I don’t meddle in politics — I am politics.” (via Corner)

Nancy & co. should take a lesson.

  5. She’s launching a GOP voter registration drive.

  6. Well said, Nancy. You made George W. Bush sound articulate.

  7. Sometimes I think that Clinton supporters are being played. All of this drama leading up to Obama’s eventual nomination will help in bringing the Clinton supporters who are not sold on Obama.
After all, a no vote or vote for McCain is well……. a vote for McCain :(

It could be a political marketing campaign to shore up that percentage that will be needed to get Obama the victory.

It’s funny but in some ways Patterico and company could be helping Obama by reporting Clinton/Obama drama.

One can only hope, or rather I could only hope.

  9. Another Drew, If your referring to me, and the need to be in a padded room, my question to you is this:

Would you really like to silence my voice?

Not too American if that’s the case.

If you said it as a joke, I’m laughing with you :)

    Comment by Oiram — 8/27/2008 @ 9:39 am

  10. No, you can say anything you wish.
However, most of what you allege is tiresome rant, unsupportable by fact or reason.

    Comment by Another Drew — 8/27/2008 @ 9:54 am

  11. Drew, #10 at least I have admitted here that I occasionally state unsupported facts, I’ve even apologized for that upon recognizing my mistakes.

    Could you say the same?

Are you that high and mighty?

Thank you for letting me say what I wish, that’s nice. I’m happy that you get to as well.

    Comment by Oiram — 8/27/2008 @ 9:59 am

  12. I try to stick with opinion that is supported by facts.
As to “High and Mighty”: That’s not me, but was a good story and film.

    Comment by Another Drew — 8/27/2008 @ 10:09 am

  13. #12, Drew “I try” you said. I’m glad to hear you say that. I try as well.

We’re not as different as you think.

    Peace

A liberal looks at a padded room as a means to keep the occupant from hurting himself.

A conservative looks at a padded room as a means of silencing a nuisance.

    Nuance.

  15. I find it very offensive that Obama is not having the first woman Speaker of the House play a larger role at the convention. It is a slap in the face that Pelosi is unlikely to forget and yet another example of his arrogance and lack of readiness for high office.

  16. Oiram,

Would you really like to silence my voice?

Not too American if that’s the case.

So would you be consistent enough to call Omaba un-American for trying to silence the voices of his critics?

Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene

How can you support him in that case?

    – A conservative looks at what Another Drew wrote and sees a tongue-in-cheek throwaway line.

A liberal looks at what Another Drew wrote and sees an opportunity to engage in character assassination.

Nuance as subtle as a jackhammer to the balls.

  23. #22 ICY you are correct sir, please keep up the policing for Conservatives here as well as the liberals.

    – How . . . DARE you call me by another name, Peter?! Let me tell you something, love2008; I’ve spent a lot of time and energy cultivating my online identity, and the last thing I need is some twerp like you, with your whiny little “Look at me. I’m Levi, and I’m rude!” crap distorting my carefully-crafted image. I mean, at least my screen name makes sense! What the hell is “jharp” supposed to mean anyway? In conclusion, BigIslandDave, I give you fair warning: One slip-up . . . just one “Oops, silly me” incident in the future and it’s on! YOU and ME — mano y whatever-the-hell-you-are-ano!

    – I’m ‘Missed It By THAT Much’, and I approved this message.

  29. One thing I can say about that Pelosi woman, she says it as she says it. She needs to do more of thinking before saying. But she has a lot of courage. Thats a plus, if she doesn’t drill our brains with it.

  30. Words of Wisdom for Nancy Pelosi…
    Automotive Metaphor
Caution, be sure brain is in gear before engaging mouth!
    Financial/Bar-fight Metaphor
Don’t let your mouth write any checks that your ass can’t cash!

However, any coward can speak mindlessly.
