In reading the story you linked to, I have no idea for the life of me what is the Basis of Martinez’s suit. The update seems to be the biggest clue. I had sort of come to respect Martinez for the way in which he handled his departure, but this knocks him down a notch or two in my book.

I see that Martinez is the subject of a restraining order. Has anyone requested the court to determine if he is the registered owner of any firearms, and to ensure that he surrenders same?

It seems as though everyone’s jumping to conclusions. So he wrote a couple of rude emails.
OK. Twenty or thirty. But does taking on a separate identity to send some of the emails, and then confessing to it, then re-sending more using the already blown fake identity qualify as crazy?
Many times in correspondence I’ve taken an alter-ego and written about my impending death at this alter-ego’s hands, and then revealed that it was really me writing the original communications, before lapsing into a vulgar personal attack.
Someone should ask Glen Greenwald about whether the Martinez situation seems a little off. My guess is that he’d reply that it was perfectly normal.
