Who’s Under Obama’s Bus?
[Guest post by DRJ]
Barack Obama has been associated with people of questionable backgrounds and beliefs like Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Williams Ayers, and Tony Rezko but he’s been willing to distance himself from inconvenient allies or supporters when it’s expedient to do so.
Obama’s actions have been described as “throwing [someone] under the bus.” I think NRO’s Rich Lowry was the first to use “under the bus” in connection with Obama, and the first recognized victim was Obama’s white grandmother as Scott Johnson explained in this Powerline post.
I want to assemble in one post the names, relationships and circumstances for people Obama or his campaign have “thrown under the bus.” Your help will be appreciated. Explanations and links are especially welcome.

UPDATE BY PATTERICO: I have restored Scott Johnson’s true last name. Thanks to Linda Seebach.
Thank you and my apologies to Mr. Johnson. — DRJ
One I just was made aware of: Obama threw Bernie Mac under bus for “inappropriate” jokes at Obama fundraiser in July.

madmax333 (0c6cfc) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:42 pmThere is a http://politicalinquirer.com/2008/06/28/the-obama-under-the-bus-executive-summary/ for the site “The Political Inquirer” which discusses this at length…
reff (b68a4f) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:44 pmWell..I don’t know how to make a link, but that is the site…..it does provide several interesting explanation
reff (b68a4f) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:46 pmWell, that was quick.
Take a look at reff’s link and add any they’ve missed. Thanks for the Bernie Mac addition, max. It’s a shame about his death.
DRJ (9d1be2) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:48 pmObama did say he was “kidding” to Bernie Mac…
Problem is, as you read it, you can almost sense the lack of sincerity for Obama’s statement, either way you decide to take it…
Or, JD, is that just the racist in me???
reff (b68a4f) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:52 pm“Obama did say he was “kidding” to Bernie Mac…”
First he chastised, then he said he was kidding… doesn’t that count as a flip-flop?
Dana (254946) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:55 pmTo paraphrase JD…and a certain redneck comedian…
“You must be a racist if….
….you accuse Obama of flip-flopping in a punch line”
reff (b68a4f) — 8/9/2008 @ 9:58 pmYes, R.I.P. Bernie Mac
I reckon his granny was one of the first evicted after the Wright church outbreak.
Obama has a new poster. The Obama Sieg Heil might bring in the Stormfront crew to go with Farrakhan’s boys.

Something in his lyrics about McCain needing to be paralyzed if he’s going to sit in the WH, or god knows what else.
Dmac (874677) — 8/10/2008 @ 8:10 amThat was supposed to be “screech.”

Leviticus (5e754b) — 8/10/2008 @ 10:07 amHow lame. If anyone gets the “throw them under the bus” award, it would have to be McCain. He threw one of the right’s biggest, most powerful constituent groups – not just individuals – groups now, under the bus. Namely, he pissed off the religious right.
Of course now, the religious rightists are being good little boys and girls. Yes, they’re flip-flopping and playing patty-cake with McCain since, well, he’s all they’ve got. Or so they think.
Now McCain has flip-flopped on the religious right and actively pandering to them.
Psyberian (9f6817) — 8/10/2008 @ 10:28 amProof of said pandering, please – or else you’re just farting into the wind with that statement.
Dmac (874677) — 8/10/2008 @ 10:38 amMaybe the religious right prefers being slammed as agents of intolerance than living under a regime of enforced tolerance.
Dana R Pico (556f76) — 8/10/2008 @ 10:44 am#24…And the mirror on the wall says….Of course now, the equally ‘religious’ leftists are being good little boys and girls. Yes, they’re flip-flopping and playing patty-cake with Obama since, well, he’s all they’ve got. Or so they think.
What flips around, flops around. Both the tails on this normal distribution are smiling on the outside and seething on the inside. Just like it always was.

Dmac (874677) — 8/10/2008 @ 3:11 pmYes, must be uncomfortable questions that irk liberal “feelings” since SOME of the Obama enablers here seem to have no facts to back their positions, other than that conservatives suck. Let’s send them a supply of Depends?

Icy Truth (d05099) — 8/10/2008 @ 3:32 pmRe: #17 – This is pathetic.
— Apparently Levi thinks that nobody has been thrown under the Obama bus. I wonder if some of those that have feel the same way. Did they all react the same as Rev. Wright (“He’s just being a politician”)? Yeah, that’s why he’s in Hawaii making up with grandma right now.
Icy Truth (d05099) — 8/10/2008 @ 3:36 pmNow you’ve reminded me of Eastwood flick “Dead Pool”. If it has to be a third black man, I’ll go with Robert Mugabe, Jamal Abu Mumia or OJ. Imagine the big turn out at funeral by Hollywood thug-worshippers.
I don’t think Obama threw Hayes under the bus, it was funny how Park Place hissed Chef off going after Scientology. Has Park Place done anything on Obama?
madmax333 (0c6cfc) — 8/10/2008 @ 3:39 pmI’d second the vote for Georgia…. and every other ally in the GWOT in Iraq should realize that Obama and his base hate them for what they’ve done.

i think you mean South Park. Park Place is a property on the Monopoly game board.
chas (e36377) — 8/10/2008 @ 4:00 pm#39 not to mention his TV spouse Weezie (forgot her name). I know Esther Rolle died; don’t know about John Amos. I see some of these old actors and realize I’m fast approaching geezerhood too, even if I do manage ten workouts a week. Just saw Ali McGraw is 70 and in Santa Fe now after fire destroyed LA home.
IMO Moragn Freeman would be far superior as real POTUS to Obambi. Been called a racist here, but I’d take Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas as POTUS over any of the current batch of libs and rinos.
madmax333 (0c6cfc) — 8/10/2008 @ 4:04 pmI thought he meant it as some kind of play-on-words joke.
Icy Truth (d05099) — 8/10/2008 @ 4:05 pm42 thanks, it has been quite some time. Think last I saw was when ROP show was censored. Ok to have Jesus covered with feces though. Sad about my namesake Kenny.
madmax333 (0c6cfc) — 8/10/2008 @ 4:06 pmJohn Amos is still going strong.
The ‘Say Hey Kid’ is 77.

love2008 (1b037c) — 8/10/2008 @ 4:25 pmMassive Voter Fraud by Obama Campaign Already Underway
Posted by hillbuzz under Uncategorized

Today, we saw firsthand exactly why many people already believe the Obama campaign
is engaged in a massive voter fraud operation. Here in Chicago, today was part of
Market Days — just one of the many street festivals and fairs held in the city,
every weekend during the summer. There were about 25 Obama campaign workers moving
through the crowd, registering people to vote. We distinctly heard them asking people
to not only fill out paperwork for themselves, but for anyone else they knew as
well. If someone didn’t know particular information, they were encouraged to just
make it up.
There must be some checks on those voter names somewhere — because making up fake
names and addresses doesn’t seem like it would add more votes to Obama’s column
in the end, but we don’t really understand why his campaign staff would want people
to register “anyone you know”. It seems like that would create duplicate registrations,
but we’d imagine someone could only vote once, because there has to be a system
of checks on that.
We hope.
We also found it curious that 4 of the people in the Obama group had special registrations
books that said “REGISTER TO VOTE IN ANY STATE”. We assume the other Obama volunteers
were only registering people for Illinois, but who knows, maybe they were registering
for all the states too. At Market Days, it was a good bet that everyone there lived
in Chicagoland, and most likely either Indiana or Illinois.
We’ve never heard of people being able to register others to vote in other states.
We don’t even know if that is legal, but the Obama campaign staff were doing it
aggressively.
They also passed out OUT for Obama stickers, but blanched when we asked them where
Obama was during the Gay Pride Parade and why he was not at Market Days, but instead
was at the Bud Billiken parade on the Southside of Chicago. They didn’t know what
to say when pressed as to why Obama spent time getting a haircut and playing basketball
instead of coming to Gay Pride back on June 29th.
And we don’t know what to say about the voter registration operation the Obama camp
Wright (9a2699) — 8/10/2008 @ 8:53 pmis engaged in. Our friend Astrid, the worrier, insists this is the reason Obama
will win in the fall: through voter fraud. We believe McCain will triumph, and the
Obama voter fraud efforts are no different than the registration drives Kerry’s
team engaged in back in 2004.
