San Francisco Immigration Policy Costs Three Lives

Filed under: Deport the Criminals First,General,Immigration — Patterico @ 10:36 pm

San Francisco’s rejection of “Deport the Criminals First” has resulted in three deaths in San Francisco:

The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city’s long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation, The Chronicle has learned.

Gavin Newsom has blood on his hands.

  1. Newsom had his Slick Willie moment; now has his Willie Horton. It’s a shame that he’s the mayor of a city where, just like him, too many people just don’t care.

  2. but they feel good about what they’ve done, and that’s all that matters…..

    /you’re just mean & judgmental.

  3. You never studied logic in school, did you? (Hint: By the same “reasoning”, if you stop at a red light and thus avoid running over a pedestrian, you are now responsible for all the crimes he might commit in the future.)

    Mike (800ca1)

  4. Except that the pedestrian represents a random person, while the illegal alien in question is both an illegal alien and a juvenile criminal.

If you did study logic in school Mike, you show just how stupid the “educated” can be.

  5. Mike –

Sorry, but martin has the statistical and logical right of it.

  6. The family of the slain ought to sue Newsom and his administrators PERSONALLY for they caused by allowing this criminal to stay in the US.

When the Libs get so hurt in the pocketbook that they can’t afford to be seen in the trendy restaurants by the paparazzi, then things will change.

They are also vulnerable to being mocked. A lot of them have pretty strong narcissistic traits, being laughed at hits them right in the gut.

  8. Crashemt over on Michelle’s suggests charging Newsom and co with Accessory to Murder 1. I don’t know if that would fly, Accessory to violating the Immigration laws yeah, and maybe Reckless Endangerment…

    LarryD (feb78b)

  9. It’s highly doubtful that Mike read the Chronicle article. Then again, being college edjicated maybe he did . . . and still came to the same conclusion (liberal values trump logic, after all).

  11. Let me ‘splain it to Mike with an analogy he can understand.

Gavin Newsom is like Spiderman. Newsom doesn’t help apprehend criminals soon as he takes office, like Spiderman didn’t help apprehend a criminal that commits another crime that kills his Uncle Ben and widows his Aunt May.

Newsom helped create many widows and fatherless families through his “Criminals are my friends” policies.

  12. You have to wonder how much more idiocy the local denizens of that city will take – only last week, they were complaining about the persistent influx of homeless people on their streets despite generous housing allowances that allow them the luxury of not having to solicit in the first place. They seemed not to be able to comprehend that many of the same individuals will keep on begging 24/7, despite the benefits that the city will offer them. Best example of widespread cognitive dissonance you can find these days.

    Dmac (416471)

  13. Dmac,

They beg rather than work. Also, they don’t pay taxes on their beggings.

I can see the Democrats having a field day if the GOP says anything about taxing the beggings.

  14. This isn’t a suprise. The flagrant disregard for the law that Newsom has shown was bound to lead to something disastrous.

He might want to rethink running for governor of Cali, 2010. His smug insular leftist agenda won’t play well in huge portions of the state. SF & LA, sure, thats a given. OC & IE, Sac, not so much.

  15. When laws are ignored in the US it is as if a man would ignore the diagnosis from his cardiologist saying he needed a bypass. Laws are there for a reason, they should be adhered to. If they are not worthy they should be taken off the books.

I think Newsome is toast as a contender for Governor. There is a much smaller constituency for soft on illegal immigration policies than activists would have us believe, even among liberals. Apart from the Catholic hierarchy (but not the rank and file), organized labor bigwigs (but not the rank and file), the ACLU, and the La Raza crowd, I feel pretty confident that most Democrats — at least based upon the ones that I know — will be angry about this situation.

Of course, never underestimate the ability of a handsome, charismatic liberal Democrat to backtrack on years of history and pretend to support positions that he has long fought against (any of you ever heard of Bill Clinton or Barack Obama?). Let’s see if Newsome can somehow reinvent himself as a “deport the criminals first” sort of candidate.

  17. The blood is ultimately on Bush’s hands. This is ultimately his responsibility and if he’s going to allow mayors to circumvent federal law, in the most dangerous ways imaginable, then put the blame where it belongs.

    j curtis (c84b9e)

  18. while the illegal alien in question is both an illegal alien

And thus more likely to commit a violent crime than a legal resident because …

Logic fails you yet again, doesn’t it?

    Mike (800ca1)

  19. Mike,

The proper analogy isn’t to compare the crime rates of illegal immigrants and legal residents/citizens. Instead, you should compare the crime rates of US criminal illegal immigrants (specifically, illegal immigrants that we know have committed crimes in the US because they have a criminal record) with the US crime rates of illegal immigrants after they have been deported. Deported illegal immigrants have a significantly reduced ability to commit crimes in the US.

if he’s going to allow mayors to circumvent federal law, in the most dangerous ways imaginable, then put the blame where it belongs

    — Damn straight! This needs to go to court. And if it fails we’ll appeal it up the ladder. Somebody has to pay!

Uh, remind me: where is the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals headquarted again?

    Shit.

  21. Now he’s confirmed that he didn’t read it. He just said that — uh, excuse me a moment . . .

MIKE, CLICK ON THE LINK AND READ THE ARTICLE!

Or maybe he did read it and he’s just someone who’s adopted that libertarian strain of liberalism that says ‘no preventative law enforcement whatsoever’; hence his “red light” scenario. In Mike’s world you can’t run over that pedestrian unless he’s raping an old lady in the crosswalk.

    Icy Truth (36dec9)

  22. Senator Barack Obama spoke out in defense of illegal aliens.

“When communities are terrorized by ICE immigration raids, when nursing mothers are torn from their babies, when children come home from school to find their parents missing, when people are detained without access to legal counsel, when all that is happening, the system just isn’t working, and we need to change it.” — Barack Obama

    Michael Ejercito (a757fd)

  23. Hint: By the same “reasoning”, if you stop at a red light and thus avoid running over a pedestrian, you are now responsible for all the crimes he might commit in the future.

You have a legal obligation to stop at red lights and a legal/moral obligation to avoid running people over. There is no obligation to shield criminals from prosecution/deportation, and when you do it with executive authority, you bear some responsibility for the consequences. Your idea of logic is crap, Mike.

And thus more likely to commit a violent crime than a legal resident because …

…he’s already committed crimes and has been shielded from prosecution for them. This is not a random guy nor a random illegal alien. This is a criminal and Newsome protected him because he’s an illegal alien. So, there’s a bit of a difference between Newsome and everyone who ever stopped at a red light while Ramos crossed the street rather than running him over.

You must be into moral equivalency. You keep using this word logic. It does not mean what you think it means.

    Pablo (99243e)

  24. Cinnamon Stillwell has an interesting piece in the Chron on this from a few days back. Is this fool Newsome really considering a run for Governor?

    Pablo (99243e)

  25. 22, Michael, Obama and the NYT have been forced to admit they have NO documented instances of children being torn from their mother’s arms.

Nice try to play the emotion and race card. Buzz! You lose again.

  26. #24,

“San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat best known for his aggressive support of same-sex marriage, launched an exploratory committee Tuesday to consider a 2010 run for governor.”

“…said he expects at least six Democratic candidates in the 2010 race: Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, Attorney General Jerry Brown, former state Controller Steve Westly and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell.”

    http://www.sacbee.com/111/story/1054712.html

    Dana (f3e2a8)

  27. Attorney General Jerry Brown

Hasn’t this guy already been Governor? Back when he was dating Linda Ronstadt?

    Drumwaster (5ccf59)

  28. “…said he expects at least six Democratic candidates in the 2010 race: Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, Attorney General Jerry Brown, former state Controller Steve Westly and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell.”

Keerist, why don’t they just bring Gray Davis back?

    Pablo (99243e)

  29. As I recall, the story about San Francisco dumping its illegal alien juvenile felons on San Bernardino Country broke the same day that Newsom announced that he’s exploring a run for the Governor’s seat.

    Talk about impeccable timing!

  30. …said he expects at least six Democratic candidates in the 2010 race: Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, Attorney General Jerry Brown, former state Controller Steve Westly and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell.

There you have it: Newsome and Villaraigosa will split the urban liberal machine labor/gay rights/illegal immigrant vote and maybe someone more moderate like Westly will get the dems nomination. That is, of course, provided both mayors stay in the race. Brown is the real wild card. It will be interesting to see what sort of platform he runs on.

    JVW (6a7c34)

  31. Brown is the real wild card. It will be interesting to see what sort of platform he runs on.

    Probably a surf board.

I wonder how many Dems will be voting for Jerry who were whining about a “Bush Dynasty”…

    Drumwaster (5ccf59)

  32. This is huge news. This is much much worse than the Willie Horton incident.

    Wesson (f6c982)

  33. The widow and mother of the 3 American citizens murdered by the illegal alien in San Francisco should sue the city for 100 million dollars, on the basis that they violated 3 federal laws, resulting in the murderer not being deported prior to this crime. Ambitious politicians like Newsome and Villaraigosa are violating our laws and endangering public safty. They should be prosecuted, along with the Mayors of other sanctuary cities in our country.

    Gina (6261e4)

  34. This is another reason to reject Barack Obama.

    Michael Ejercito (a757fd)

  35. Good grief. Check this out. Mayor Newsome is nearly an accomplice to FIVE murders.

arrested on March 30 when police stopped his car in the Tenderloin and a passenger in his car tried to dispose of a handgun. Ramos was freed from jail three days later. Police later learned that the weapon tied to his passenger had been used in a double murder the day before.

    Wesson (f6c982)

  36. With housing costs what they are, how do illegals (and all the drug addicted bums we see on TV) live there?

SF gives more than sanctuary, they give free/subsidized housing to illegals?

    martin (0bd3dd)

  37. When will the state of California wake-up? We are being invaded and killed by illegal aliens, an our state official do nothing!!! I ashamed that we are letting illegal aliens destroy California & the country. Who is going to stand-up, and kick these illegal aliens out of the country. All of the illegal aliens should be kicked out of the country ASAP. All of the public benefits that illegals get should be cut-off now!! This poor woman should sue the city for a $1billion dollars. Shame on you San Francisco, your city is disgusting!

  38. where is the state gov’t. where is arnold, nancy p. on this. i haven’t heard a word from them. there are very good people that come to AMERICA and contribute to their new community and country. we have seen this same scenerio in virginia beach, nyc, nj, new haven, ct where illegals who have multiple felonies and are allowed to stay and end up killing someone. WHEN WILL THIS STOP!!!!

    Harry (a7ec4d)

  39. Think about this!!!
How many citizens have been killed illegal immigrant? I guarantee you the number is much higher than the number of Americans lost in Iraq.
    Think about it!!!

    george (43632c)

  40. I read on the internet that there are about 12 American citizens killed every day by illegal immigrants. Think about the amount of pain and suffering American families are enduring. Close the Border Now!!! That should be the first Job of every President> Protect our people and protect our country.
