Dollar Bill Jefferson Endorses Obama

The news came on the same day Jefferson’s sister, brother and niece were indicted, and Obama pal Tony Rezko was convicted of 16 corruption charges.

Links in my post at Hot Air.

The indicted Bill Jefferson is not the man Obama knew.

  4. As one career criminal to another, Hussein O deserves and gladly accepts the endorsement on a day half of Cold Cash’s family was indicted for a number of felonies. Call the liberals an Ambulance.

  5. Birds of a feather …

  6. Patterico: This is hardly a surprise; a black Democratic party officeholder isn’t going to endorse anyone else.

Scrapiron: absent some evidence to back up the ‘one career criminal to another claim’, it’s a rhetorical device about equivalent to the left’s claim that then-candidate Bush was a stupid drunk.

  7. Aphrael-

I hate having to explain jokes. It’s all in the timing. You see, not only does this endorsement not matter because Obama has the nomination sewn up, but Jefferson does it the same day three of his close relatives are indicted for fraud.

Jefferson may have done this to improve his standing (look at me-I’m with Obama) but all he did was bring Obama’s standing down a little bit (You see that guy standing next to Obama? Not only is he being investigated, but his sister, brother, and niece were indicted just today.)

Any word on how the Pedophile Caucus (Mel Reynolds, D-IL) is going to vote?

  14. It’s ok. I don’t even know what Methodists are. Are they something in-between Episcopalians and Presbyterians?

    Comment by nk — 6/6/2008 @ 7:33 pm

  15. They used to be .. now they might as well be unitarians.

    Comment by SPQR — 6/6/2008 @ 7:38 pm

  16. depends on which bunch of methodists. some of them are a cross between lutheran and baptist, some of them are a cross between lutheran and buddhists.

FYI, every time I see that phrase “Dollar Bill Jefferson” I have to remind myself that it’s not Bill Jefferson Clinton

  17. I don’t even know what Methodists are.

Those are people who are strong advocates for member functions in C++ classes. They were the first object-oriented Christian denomination. A little ahead of their time, the Methodist Church was founded before C++ or even computers were invented.

  18. And, yes, you can gain the attributes of a Methodist by inheritance.

Yeeeaah… your side really ought to keep its mouth shut when it comes to the subject of improper sexual shenanigans.

    Comment by Leviticus — 6/7/2008 @ 8:10 am

  20. Yes, Leviticus, our side should shut up because you say so. After all, Democrats have license to sexual misconduct and Republicans don’t … because you say so.

  21. Guess I struck a nerve (#19).

    Comment by Another Drew — 6/7/2008 @ 12:14 pm

  22. I’m just saying that there are at least as many (if not more) horny skeletons in the Republican closet as there are in the Democratic closet… and the Republican Party is the one that bills itself as the party of “family values”.

    Comment by Leviticus — 6/7/2008 @ 12:21 pm

  23. 22 – New York Magazine did great reporting in the aftermath of the Spitzer scandal. They looked at the buzz among the escorts on the message boards they frequent. They seemed rather ho-hum about it all claiming to have serviced many high profile clients in politics and business. One figured Spitzer had to be a Democrat because if he were Republican he would have requested the services of a male escort. I hate the hypocrisies of both parties whether its the holier than thou pseudo-progressivism of the Democrats or the moralizing killjoys of the Republicans. Unflinching loyalty to something as shallow as a political party has always seemed a rather odd way to claim an identity for yourself.

    Comment by Jack Klompus — 6/7/2008 @ 12:32 pm

  24. Leviticus, in case it escaped your notice, I was responding to a partisan attack, that taken at face-value, would imply that there are no Dem Kongresskritters convicted of any kind of crime – except, of course, for all the ones that were, including an ex-Chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Cmte.

So, remember when you start flinging feces against a wall, that a wall has two sides, and stuff sticks to both.

  25. I hope Jim Traficant makes another run at Congress when he gets out of the big house. I miss his fashion sense and flamboyance.

    Comment by Jack Klompus — 6/7/2008 @ 12:42 pm

  26. Yes, definitely a style icon.

  27. Say, how about a discussion of Rezko, the fact that he’s Syrian American who used to do business with Iraq (food for oil) & his seedy connection with that Brit billionaire.

As far as I’ve researched, Barry made his anti-Iraq invasion speech during Rezko’s connection with Iraq. (Or was that just bullshit defamation?) Am I too gullible?
