Barack Obama on Letterman (Updated)

[Guest post by DRJ]

Obama understandably wants to change the subject from Jeremiah Wright so he’s going on David Letterman with his Top Ten Surprising Facts About Barack Obama. It’s worth a look.

UPDATE: The New York Times has the whole list. This is my favorite:

  1. Sen. Clinton faces down Bill O’Reilly.

Sen. Obama recites an unfunny top-10 list, probably the worst one since the cast of BSG went on to give their top-10 list.

  2. I wonder why no one is commenting on this. Oh wait, there are no Rev. Wright remarks here. No conspiracy fodder for more theories. But watch as the comments begin to come in 5..4…3..2…1…and action!

  3. I miss talking about George Bush’s faith, don’t you?

  4. Yes!
Isn’t it interesting that eight years ago, the media was all atwitter about GW’s radical, fundamentalist religiousity; and today, they just don’t want to touch the Obama/Wright relationship with a ten-foot pole?
But, then again, GW’s not on the ballot, is he?

  5. What if Obama was as open about his faith as was Bush? Do you think that would be news? Could that have saved him? Politicians are yet to fathom just how conservative America still is. Inspite of the media buzz about extreme liberalisation and so called leftism. The politics of faith still rules in today’s America. The democrats dont seem to know that. Or maybe the are realising that too late? The conservatives, will decide who takes this election. Not the economy, nor the war nor experience vs charisma. The have done it before amd they will do it again.

    Yes, and no.

He never would have been in the race to start with if the Dems had realized what Obamalamadingdong’s faith is. So had he been open and honest from the start about it, the timeline would have bifurcated and another universe would have entered the multiverse, where the Dem runup to to 2008 would have been entirely different.

/Somehow, I think I missed a turn back there to Albequerque. What’s up, doc?

    What is Obama’s faith then?

  8. Black liberation theology.

  9. #9. DRJ:

    Black liberation theology.

In an odd sort of way, BLT is what keeps him in the race at this point. Mostly because there are plenty of “moderate” ‘white folk’ out there who just really can’t believe that’s anybody is that nutz.

Because if they did, there isn’t any chance at all that he would be electable.

What the fuck country are you living in?

  11. Levi,

Could you please go and find relief for your unbearable urges and stop subjecting us to your favorite word?

    nk (13d473)

  12. What are you, a nun? A third-grader?

    Levi (76ef55)

  13. Do you have some sort of point, or are you just here to show us your outrageous outrage, Levi?

If you don’t have anything to say, why say anything?

    Pablo (99243e)

  14. Levi, what are you? A frustrated middle-aged queen? I knew such a one with such a dirty mouth.

    nk (13d473)

  15. However you look at him, Levi remains a person we all love to hate. Or is it hate to love? Cant remember which one.

    love2008 (d2a57f)

  16. Hate? I suppose in the same sense that I hate seeing dog-poo on a lawn.

    nk (13d473)

  17. Which is it? The dog or the dog-poo?

    love2008 (d2a57f)

  18. Levi is actually rather mundane on the outrage scale. For some reason Ann Althouse blog tolerates a really wacko Titus-something, who spews explicit sexual profanities in bulk. No knowledge of why he is given a free pass to offend.
I see some cussing at LGF, but moonbats don’t last very long.

  19. Levi is someone who either cannot recall the past, or is a pathological liar. I think the latter. I would bet he giggles everytime he types the f word. Levi, Fuck off.

  20. What will become the future of Black Liberation Theology when there are no blacks left to liberate? Will that theology still have meaning in the advent of a black president in America? Is that what rev Wright’s outrage was about? To maintain the oppressed status quo so as to remain relevant? Did he see Obama as a threat to this theology? There are people who resist change because their victimhood gives them power.

    love2008 (d2a57f)

  21. Yes. Yes, there are.

    Pablo (99243e)

  22. Pablo, dont you think this was rev Wright’s motive? To maintain the status quo?

    love2008 (d2a57f)

  23. DRJ,

Could you plug in the link to the Times’ version?

    Alan Kellogg (5a7777)

  24. Sorry, I must have forgotten to link it.

Okay, I’ve linked it now and thanks for letting me know.

  25. love2008, I think that’s entirely possible. But I also think it’s just as likely that it’s his ego run amok and that he simply was not going to silently tolerate being disrespected. It could be a bit of both.

But Spike Lee thinks he’s getting paid to kneecap Obama, so what do I know?

    Pablo (99243e)

  26. I think Levi has discovered Big Words and Powerful Words. Apparently because he uses Powerful Words we are supposed to respect him and his thoughts.

Of course, the fact that his thoughts are puerile, predictable, and largely lifted from the expressions of others doesn’t come to play here.

Go ahead, Levi. Show us your manly bona fides. Use the Big Words and the Powerful Words. We really respect you more for that.
