I was thinking that Senator Boxer might not be the best choice to head up an ethics panel. But it isn't ethics she lacks so much as a brain.

No, Domenici should have taken his concerns to the President! He was wrong to call Iglesias, let the WH call him.

USA's are extensions of the President since he appoints them. The AG can recommend that a USA be terminated; but, unless the President agrees, there is nothing he (the AG) can do about it.
And, just what in Hell would the Senate Judiciary Cmte do? Their only power is to confirm. But boy, you can't have a controversy in DC without grandstanding by Senators, can you?

Barbara Boxer or not, this guy deserved the reprimand... if not more. Sure, prosecutors work for the government. But they really aren't functional representatives of the people... the law in a sense, if they have to answer to politicians other than the actual DA (the AG in this case).

The Senator should have taken his concerns to the Judiciary Committee.
